Let's go to the movies with puppies world! Dunkirk in 70mm IMAX film vs the original screening. The 2 screens compared, behind the imax, the equipment 5 speakers on each wall. Surprisingly no overhead or height or ceiling speakers as Dolby Atmos yields... a larger screen in the imax, 70mm film as opposed to 35mm film. A slight peek at the film Dunkirk by Christopher Nolan a world war 2 film of the story of Dunkirk France and how certain British soldiers got there. Great flight scenes, amazing sound... will act as a perfect surround sound test once released on blu ray.

i'm extremely happy that my local imax is one of the old school 70mm compatible ones. the size of the screen is unparalleled to the digital versions. just wish there was more 70mm films to fill the whole screen!!

Imagine if they had lots of films done on 70mm, lots of theatres for people to access and great films. The cinema's would be packed every night.

I envy you. From where I currently live (Bavaria, Germany), it would take me roughly five hours to drive to the nearest digital IMAX and I’d have to go to London for a 70mm screening (which is exactly what me and and my mates are planning to do for Oppenheimer next year).

@@dylanjohannson i feel for you! there was a time amid the pandemic when this theater shut down for renovations/pandemic so we had no way to watch Tenet! I chose to drive 2 hours away for it, thankfully this is also an old imax where they showed it in 70mm. Since then, our local imax theater has added a laser projector, I only wish they kept their film projector too! i wont know until Oppenheimer gets announced. I guess I could also ask the manager, haha

Me to, here in Prague, we have only one cinema in continental Europe which plays it in this format!! I've just returned from cinema and it was perfect, both - picture and audio, everything was fine, picture from floor to ceiling, it was amazing. I already visited IMAX few times and with digital, it's slightly pixelated on such giant screen, Oppenheimer in 70 mm format looks amazing.

The biggest Imax in the world is in Sydney Australia so I think they need to travel a bit more.

Make sure whatever imax you go to they have stadium seating. If it doesn't then you my friend purchase what we call digital LIEmax tickets. You want 70mm imax. Pretty much the theatre needs to look like it would show documentaries at a science center or museum. That's where imax started

Every single IMAX theater has stadium seating, no matter what format (IMAX digital, IMAX laser, etc) and stair height. Only time a theater is not constituted as ‘stadium seating’ is if all the seats are part of a single floor without steps.

The term you were searching for at the end is OmniMax, which uses a hemispheric screen that corrects for the fisheye effect.

Though, that isn't an IMAX 70mm theater because IMAX 70mm theater has 1.43:1 aspect ratio screen and yours is 1.9:1 aspect ratio screen, which makes it either IMAX Digital or IMAX Laser. :)

Though 70mm IMAX can also do digital and laser. The one I go to is apparently the tallest in Europe and is 70mm But they also do digital and recently added laser.. But all in all 70mm is superior. Digital may not degrade like film, but it's compressed and despite what people think, film is higher quality

It's because the video doesn't show IMAX 70mm and 35mm. Title should be changed to IMAX xenon vs. regular (2K or 4K) digital instead. IMAX 70mm and 35mm are altogether different formats than IMAX xenon and digital. There are actual 35mm prints of "Dunkirk", which have the slightly cropped 2.39:1 ratio (from top and bottom) than digital and regular 70mm prints' 2.20:1 ratio.

Amc imax are nice. They are also comfortable, I just don't get the same experience I do when I see a movie at the dome imax theater with the stadium seating

wow I can't believe how much bigger it is then 35 mm we have a Cinimark XD with a screen that size but its a peace of crap the sound is away supper low and once you sit down the screen looks a lot smaller and it is not nearly as clear as the IMAX at AMC

A genuine 35mm Cinema running a film projector would look stunning and have a far better image than digital.
