Hi, Hans! Hehe.. Just want to add logic dun sa part na "they will prefer to buy a car than a house" - it's because in reality, mas mobile ang mga Thais (pre-Covid of course) mahilig silang magtravel, do a roadtrip, or simply just buying daily stuff nila naka-personal vehicle sila. Thats because, outside BKK, transportation is not as good/reliable. Kaya for practical reasons talaga yung pag-invest nila sa sasakyan. And for the house naman, most of them delay buying/investing on a house due to work permanency. Some Thais I have met, nung pagka-retire (or a few years before) pa lang sila talaga nagpagawa ng bahay either back in their hometowns (outside their workplace yun) or in another location they decided to be at permanently. I agree that Thais are materialistic pero hard to admit mas practical sila sa ating mga Pinoys. 🤭🙁 Sorry napahaba. Just sharing. 😊

I am a Thai person on the issue of why Thai people prefer to buy a car before buying a house because the house has large debts and the payment is longer. If we buy a house first, we won't be able to buy a car. So many people buy a car first and then until the car debt is gone. So we started to buy a house.

Car first because a lot of times, it is a necessity work or business related matters. It makes work easier and satisfying, hence prevents fatigue or burn out. If your work pays you good, you will earn/save enough money to buy whatever you like including a house.

Agree that Thai are beauty-conscious but it's not all about work. I think it's about self-satisfaction and self-discipline. We were told from a young age that we need to look neat and clean in the public, it's a sign that we have a good upbringing and have been ook after well. I guess it's materialistic in a way, but I would rather be tidy than messy. The first person we see when wake up is ourselves, not someone else. So that we don't have to see a corpse-like face in the mirror when we burst our teeth in the morning, we would put not on a rigid beauty routine before going to bed hahaha. Plastic surgery is also perceptual. The mindset is, if you buy a car, you don't drive every day until it's broken and falling into pieces. We take our cars to be serviced and beautified. The same goes for other appliances and machinery we own. So then why can't we do that to our body ? Exercise and nutrition help, but if one chooses to do the surgery, that's their preference.

One thing you're right is that Thai people don't tend to have as many more children as in the past. In 1960, Thailand had a population of about 35 million and the Philippines had about 30 million. The policy of the state that said to the media that having more children will be poor, And have other obligations If not Inadequate or proper care raised , it will be a social problem. 2. Buddhism is not very strict flexible Even though abortion is a religious sin for destroying life But sterilization is not religious. because of protection didn't kill life The other part is that Thai people believe in values of gratitude, perseverance and frugality. respect for adults and others including very social etiquette Except for those who are not educated or good training It may be doing what society has framed it. Most of Thai people do not like to admire. But they often criticize the performance of government agencies that do not work out the best. or as good as it should be And will always be compared to countries in East Asia. but if you do well or amended as warned We will admit that we have done well until we are satisfied. For example, Bang Sue Grand Station. There is a problem with the men's bathroom. Or granite tiled floors have periods of moisture caused by water. or station sign using blue in English letters Even though it looks beautiful, it's not clear. when viewed from a distance until it turns light green they still don't like it until finally had to switch to white as well as Thai characters Thai people will criticize until finally the government has to improve. because he cannot bear the blame and the Thai people will not let it pass.

I really like that Thais do not want to bear children unless they can afford to. I would want Philippines to do the same. This is one of the main reasons why Philippines is such a poor country and that more than 30 live below the poverty line. I don't believe in abortion. But I believe in sex education, condoms, and making sure that in church every Filipino knows not to bear kids if you can't afford to. It just places a burden on society as a whole.

We get car first as an investment. We invest in car, so we can drive to work, to make money. Buying house at young age is something we need to consider carefully whether we will change a job or move? Is the location really good to settle the life from now and then? If you are the local people in your working area, of course you have house or land, but if you are not, you will be recalled from your own hometown, to go back and settle down there once you earn enough. So it will be waste for someone to buy a house, which they have to test to stay, and observe what kind of neighbors you gonna meet or society you are gonna be surrounded. Renting is way easier to decide, if we don’t like we can move whenever without waiting to clear the debt issue with the bank.

Korea, Japan, Thailand same mindset on today's generation, don't need to have a family because of responsibility and they prefer career. That's true how can u raise your child if you have no stable job or fanancial security, you born a child to have a good future not an investment.

Like parents why did you even settle down and produce many kids when you don't even perform your obligations as parents??? It's not the obligation of the eldest child to feed the entire family and buy for all their necessities. It must be the parents' obligations! Yung mga Pilipino parents ginawa nilang back up investments kung saan yung eldest child na ang gagastos sa lahat ng bagay while the parents will wait for them to be feed and additional allowance for money spending on personal items.

I think its because expensive cars you can show off, like a status symbol. Whereas a house you can't carry it around with you. But for practical reasons it's better to invest in a house first before a car because car value depreciates fast where a house and lot increases in value as long as you maintain the house. I hope Filipinos learn that .

As a Filipino on the younger side and from observation of my peers, I do think most teenagers and those in their early 20s prefer to NOT have a child at all. I say prefer not having, but when it comes down to it, one child to two children is the ideal. This is mainly because of the YOLO mindset and to avoid the cons or disadvantages of having too many family members / relatives, as observed by the younger generation. Younger generation has also been leaning towards grooming and upping their fashion standards as they are being heavily influenced and advertised by the global media. Korean fashion, skincare routines, braces and all that shebang are now common (and is starting to be deeply rooted) for both boys and girls (especially so for the non-binary genders). As compared to the adults, young are also becoming more ‘materialistic.’ “Trend” is such a powerful word that whenever something is trending, people ought to ride the wave. The peer pressure of ‘being left out’ has influenced the young to invest on things that will show ‘concrete proof’ of their economic stability (or at least, that's what the competition is all about). These cultures and mindsets are being adopted not only from one country or region, but is actually being cultivated by the young ever since the world became so much transparent from these past two decades. Exposure to diversity had produced a more socially and economically aware generation. As more and more get exposed to social issues, more and more have started to shift their values and beliefs from the traditions of the old, both in positive and negative ways.

Why thai people prefer to buy car before house? 1. Most of Thais already have house in countryside just working at Bangkok so it unnecessary to buy house except other reason like vacation home/condo near their office etc. 2.Buying house is a big debt and longer term than buying cars. 3. Having car makes your life easier such as personal business/provincial trip.

Loan to buy a car is easier than a home loan, plus the interest is less, including the conclusion that it can't make a living easily, builds credibility.

She's always telling me not to do this kind of thing and think what you gonna feel if other people do it to you. She like modern technology lalo na Iphone brand. Unica Iha kasi sya sunod sa layaw nun maliit palang. Most of my co.workers telling me that she will drain my pocket hahaha and thai girl are expensive and opportunistic in my case vise versa, she give me lot's of gift🤗 treating me outside and eat in restaurant. She make me feel a very important person to her life. I miss her so much hahaha. Nagustuhan ko din sakanya is she's always have all kinds of medicine hahaha parang anak turing saken pag masakit tyan painumin nya ako nung white rabbit na iniinom ang lamig sa tyan. Pag masakit ulo may pinapahid sya saken puro thai medicine. Hahahaha, she like food so much doesn't even thinking kung magkano pa yan pag gusto nya kakaen kame ako minsan nanghihinayang hahaha. She love to travel, make friends and it's my first time na dinala nya ko sa family nya sa thailand punta sa mga temple, giant golden resting budha and tinour ako hahaha. Here in the States, owning a house is a very good investment because the value always goes up specially if you live in big urban cities like Los Angles, San Francisco or New York City. If you bought a house let say 2 yrs ago for $500,000.00, in 2021 it is probably now worth $700,000.00 or a $1million depending on the neighborhood. Meanwhile if you buy a car now & drive the car out of the dealership, the value drops considerably. If you borrower money from a bank to buy your house here in the U.S., the interest that you pay monthly to the bank will help you get a tax right off when you pay your taxes every April 15, of the following year for taxes owed from previous year. You might also get a refund from the Internal Revenue Service maybe in thousand of dollars if you don’t owe taxes from the IRS that is. Most Filipino immigrants when they come to the U.S. their main goal is to own a house. They will saved up for the down payment & borrow the rest from the bank. Everyone in the family cheap in to pay the monthly mortgage.

The hard part of being a Catholic is kesyo bawal ang abortion, ayaw sa family planning or ayaw ng RH Bill. And ofc naging social problem na sya. Well for me it’s more embarrassing to own a car first but don’t own a house. There are lots of public transportations if car is the issue. You can buy a cheap second hand car and use it temporarily if you really need one then just buy a new luxurious car if you have finally earned. Most Filipinos invest everything in business first because we believe that success is more significant than anything else. You won’t even know that the person wearing a simple outfit with slippers on is rich because most Filipinos prefer not to showoff their wealth. Simplicity is a thing here no matter what your status is. However, fashion has gotten bigger now and it’s already 2022. So it’s like 50/50 now.

The main reason that Thai people have a car first 1. Materialism 2. Most Thai people buy a car before buying a house. because we already have a house And during the holidays such as New Year, Songkran, Mother's Day, even Father's Day, Thai people will travel back to their homes. Having a private car makes our journey more comfortable. 😊

I am not living in Thailand Nor I have been there for quite sometime I just having my observation Based on their Series That I have watched already and I can say that your assumption on their behavior are right. They are also the same on what I observed especially when it comes to their physical appearance in women it is undeniably noticeable that they are very conscious in terms of their looks however what makes me more surprised is when it comes to men. Because in our country the Philippines although there are men who are appearance conscious but not mostly as what you also observed Hansel. I am shocked observing that in Thai that I seen males that are very neat and tidy looking to the point that I cannot distinguish difference in terms of women and men when it comes to beauty conscious behavior. In our country you can easily distinguish the skin texture of male for it shows an appearance of some sort of roughness however based on what I observed as I watched some of their series, The men skin of Thai is so smooth that I sometimes observed it is even smoother to the skin of girls. To tell you frankly before because of our culture I find it not good for men to surpass woman it terms of beauty I am not referring to Trans woman I am referring to the man itself of Thailand. But now I can't tell if just influence by Thai culture but now I find it appealing to male having appearance surpassing females. They are man however in terms of looks they are so perfect in terms of body figure they are very slim. I am also notice that yes you are correct many of them have cars and only few have own house and that answers my question why some Thai celebrity don't own house unlike in our country. But What I like most to them is their practicality in terms of children, I don't what the Filipino mindset of having children so that in the future children will take care of their parents. I also belong to the family of many siblings and I've experience a a lot of hardships because of this. I also observed that Thai's investing more on their looks while Filipino more on their skill. May I add another traits that I think Thai have and that is being very polite and respectful to teachers.

A lot of Thai people are like Japanese, Korean or Chinese in term of physical appearance no matter male or female because their root is from sothern of China. If you looking at K-pop star, Japanese stars or Chinese stars its just about the same as Thai. Obciously there are more 10 million Thai-Chinese in the country which not include millions of Northern people that have had Chinese DNA but they called themselves Lanna. Many of Thai working in Bangkok including celebrities came from countryside that they already have home with parents in every provinces of Thailand and when they get old they always back home and never wanted to live in Bangkok like me, So we don't need to buy home and its too expensive. Just saving your money for your retirement when you back home its better choice.

@@peterreed8595 Yes in Thailand we have Thai-Chinese as the biggest race of our country It's about 12 millions people but if we talked about our roots, There will be more than 30 millions to 40 millions people of the whole country. In Thai history say that originally Thai was from East Asian (Chinese, Korean, Japanese "especially Chinese") then mixed with other races so that's why most of Thai people has pale skin not like the other countries of South East Asia. But it's about 1,000+ years ago (I think) so now we don't know about our roots anymore. We just considered ourselves as only THAI. Not a mixed blood. Btw.. Mix blood in Thailand means the people who has mother or father in different nationality because in Thailand we believed that Thai is just nationality not a ethnicity or race. (I try my best to speak English). 😄
