The reason why you can just put it back on is Ethan is also infected, hence why Jack said to him "Welcome to the family". 'Family' is another term for being infected by Eveline's 'Gift'. Ethan has regenerative abilities and so does the Bakers and Mia.

The serum probably just gets rid of what you had at the time, but you are still vulnerable to getting it again. Mia also gets taken over in both endings.

The serum was made with an imperfect (Type-D) model, most likely it didn't work perfectly for Type-E infection. Also I don't recall Mia getting taken over in the 'Good' ending, other than the few that seemed more like hallucinations to me.

By that point we knew Mia was some how involved, plus she'd stabbed Ethan with a screw driver and cut his hand off with a chainsaw, not someone I'd want to get in a little boat with. But Zoe was not only helpful but willing to take Mia along on the escape despite what she'd done to Zoe's family. I just had a better feeling about her and found it very unfair that you get a bad ending for not choosing nepotism.

Actually, Ethan initially went there to see what happened to Mia, but after all the batshit crazy stuff that was happening, his goal changed to getting the hell outta there. Remember, Ethan was gung ho about leaving Mia behind when he thought the cop could save him. His goal after the shit in the guesthouse changed to survival and getting out. It just so happens that Mia was still alive. People are acting like goals can't change lol.

You're not. But I didn't choose her because there were subtle hints in the game that blatantly showed you couldn't save her. Mainly the two samples which were parts of *failed* D-type bioweapons. Now with a serum composed of that, I don't imagine it would do much but suppress the infection of an E- type virus. Not by much of course. Zoe is a nice girl and it's horrible what happened to her and her family, but she had no way of countering Eveline if she ever got close to her since she never did (hence why she stayed in the trailer when the family was taking care of Eveline and why she wasn't as crazy as her family) which then leads to her death if you chose her. Mia was still considered a mother to Eveline because it was imprinted in her so I knew at least Mia wouldn't be killed if something happened because we all knew that escape was way too easy. We've seen that she can resist Eveline to a small degree and serum that could suppress it would probably help. Plus, the part where we play as Mia makes more sense if we choose her because the one where we choose Zoe feels a lot more like an asspull if you ask me.

Also, Ethan says "took you guys long enough" when Chris was helping him up.

CyberLance26 considering Witcher 3, Fallout New Vegas, and Mass Effect 2, as well as their dlcs, I'd have to disagree with that statement. The only thing that makes a game's ending unsatisfying is poor writing.

I'm actually disappointed that the choices and differences aren't that elaborate. With their interviews, it seemed to have a lot more going for it, choices- and branching-wise. It's a good game, but I hate it when they pretend they are giving you all the choices to branch out the story in different ways, which in the end only amounts to 2 or 3 subtle differences. That and the "hillbilly" theme for me are the only real shortcomings of the game.

It's not impossible to achieve. Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross did it. So did many other games.

But with just 1 ending, everything is linear and there's no sense of choice and less replay value.

Vohaul86 are you serious? zoe was actually more infected than mia. she wasn't even slightly in control of evie inside her, while mia could just about try stop her. she has said that there was a d-series cure that *failed* and she had an e-series virus (basically evie). at the end, if you choose mia, both of them survive (there's a dlc called the end of zoe, where ethan gets help for her as he promised). and the whole game was based around you finding your wife, so why would you choose someone else instead? sure, she cut your hand off, but it wasn't her influencing it. choosing zoe is just a bad choice, but everyone makes different choices so it's your decision.
