I train with the “guy in the white shorts”. Proud to take instruction from him and call him master. Glad to see someone put that situation in context. He was very patient considering what happened; most wouldn’t have made it that far. People train hard for these events and want a fair fight and not get cheated.

@jedi Glad, you came back to this video. Both of these Schools are in South Florida and Cyborg's school was ok this went down as you can see them celebrate at the end on the far left. What people don't know is the Ref has affiliations with Fight Sports and should not have been reffing this match. Johnny (slap Ninja) showed more self-control than anyone knows. I have only respect for the school Johnny reps, but there should have more verbal protests along the match to protect Pollo as everything going down was evident with the intention.

I once got a takedown, held side control and lost my first match in the preliminary matches by 2 points...the final score was 0-2. Yup didn't get any points. On the recorded footage the ref is about to give me points for takedoen, then doesn't. When I'm in side control the ref is looking away. I nearly belted the guy

That slap was a perfect conclusion. DQ or not, there's no winning this thing anyway... so yeah, the guy had some self respect and acted accordingly.

When I started BJJ the motto "Check your ego at the door" was still rigidly enforced. If I had done this in a tournament (let alone rolling in our gym) I would have been expelled from the club. By my head instructor.

I had a higher rank slap me once, said it was a lesson to expect the unexpected. The straight karate punch he got 2 seconds later in his mouth was followed by the same lesson. He was asked to leave. Why? Jealousy. I'm 6'7" and 300 pounds and he didn't like that I was too strong for him to do anything, yes, even as a white belt. So his conclusion was to be a bully. The instructor saw it all.

Glad to hear that after some complaints and review of this fight the referee has since been banned from reffing any bjj events. They found a total of 5 blatant mistakes during the whole fight which calls into question her integrity or her intelligence due to "absolute selective blindness or lack of even a basic understanding of the rules and sportsmanship of BJJ sparring."

Citation? Link? Who are "they" and how could they possibly implement a ref ban across ANY bjj events?
@beamonm29
@beamonm29 2 жыл бұрын
@@TaddSeiff I don't have a link just heard it at the dojo from a trusted source who is a bjj referee. They would be a pronoun for the people investigating the allegations. As to implementing a ban for a referee, apparently you have never heard of the SJJIF or the NABJJF or done sporting jiu-jitsu. Otherwise you would know that referees have a governing body as well, especially in competitions such as this one, to help avoid favoritism and corruption. True this was a low key competition in a school gym, however they are sponsored and an official event with official referees. Or maybe you just haven't gotten into that side of the sport. I'm not sure and hope I enlightened you.

@@beamonm29 Where can I find her name on a list so I will know if my ref is legitimate or not?
@beamonm29
@beamonm29 Жыл бұрын
@sana-cm7oc I don't think any of the governing bodies makes public a list of discredited referees. If you are at an official event, then they will have official referees. I suppose you could Google the sponsor contact info and confirm the referee and/ or ask if their accreditation is still valid. Although I would try and make sure A.) The ref doesn't find out and B.) No one knows it was you or your camp calling. I'm not saying they would retaliate, but most of them have eagle eyes and know every comma in the rule book.
