My brother passed away recently- and we grew up watching the goonies as children. Through our lives we would always tell eachother - Goonies never say die!!! It was our thing 😢 .. well I heard this song for the first time and it broke me down... so I cried out to my brother- "Give me a sign brother plz! I miss you so much just give me a sign brother!! Goonies never say die bro! Ever! Plz god"... a half hour later my spouse comes into the living room excited "babe come look!!!" - There was a dog jumping around in my back yard I'd never seen before- I didn't even know how it got in?!?! But he was fast friends with my dogs boo and lilly! Which was awesome and they were all playing together like old friends it was really something... well I went to check his collar for an adress and to my astonishment the collar read "Roman" ... ... my brothers name.. Lord, I was FLOORED ...😢 just took my breath away... GOONIES NEVER SAY DIE!!!! I love you brother. You are forever a part of the man I am and the man I am becoming. R.i.p. Roman Dailey.

I feel for you bro song's pretty powerful just has this kind of magic about Them and the other bands that were doing similar things like sublime and stick figure and slightly stupid et cetera. They were all friends of Bradley Nowell and sublime & they stood on his shoulders in a good way keeping the sound going!

Sorry for your loss brother there’s nothing worse than that. I hope you’re doing well. I had a similar experience with this song. The year this came out, it became my girl and I’s song as we cruised around Southern California, singing it together at the beach. I thought she was gonna be the one I married, the one I’d see everyday for the rest of my life. But it just didn’t happen like that. Life sucks that way. Whatever she’s doing though I hope she knows I still love her, and I hope she’s happy.

I just meant I had a similar connection with this song with the girl I loved, the beach, the phone calls. I thank god she’s okay and out there doing her thing peacefully. It’s just a special song in my life.

This song reminds me of the best friend I ever had and her husband. They moved around alot for his job. They ended up as my neighbor for 3 months. They became my family. Then they moved away to several different places. I visited them a couple times, in Indiana and Georgia. She died several years ago. I miss her so much.

One of my fondest memories of this song involves this song. My best friend who has since passed away and I put this on the jukebox and sang along. by the end of this song the whole bar was singing or just jamming. every single lady in the bar was either after me or him, and every dude was coming up and asking what the song was. it truly turned the bar into a house party like we used to have in high school. I listen to this song on repeat. Very loud. I introduced it to my son 5 or 6 yrs ago. He was 12 or 13 and he still loves it. He said it's one of those songs that just gives you goosebumps, you really feel it. It's so true. When you can sing along to the words it's easy to just get lost and sing it from the rooftops!

This was the last song I listened to before getting out the recruiter's van to ship off to Basic Combat Training in 2010. It was on repeat in my head until I graduated and was able to listen to music again. I must have listened to it for two hours on repeat going from Oklahoma to Missouri. Definitely is nostalgic.
