This the secret milwaukee don't want you to know about.
They use cheap parts, especially bearings. No name brand bearings in these tools. Just cheap Chinese bearings.
The bottom bearing on these brushless grinders is a cheap 605 bearing. And they fail all the time.
I get these Milwaukee grinders in every week with the exact same fault. The bottom bearing falling apart. Normaly a new bearing will get it going again, but sometimes it's left to long and the motor is burnt up and cannot be fixed.
If you have a milwaukee grinder, remember this video and change the bearing when it starts to sound bad.

In the USA people think Milwaukee is the top brand, this guy has nothing good to say about them, I always thought they were overpriced shit.

It's a really good brand same as Makita, Dewalt and Bosch. But the best one is one that you don't hear too much Hilti that's the best literally you buy one tool of that brand and you are not going to replace It never ever doesn't matter how bad you you treat the tool.

Yea I’m not sure if they are made to a different standard in the us but there are quite a few builders I know in America use Milwaukee and think they are good but in Ireland they just don’t hold up at all, complete garbage.

TBH, I’m surprised that Milwaukee’s back alley soldering outlasted the bearings. :)

The two Milwaukee drills i have, have been dropped, left out in the rain, and abused. And they still work with no problem, for 6-7 years now.

Sounds like this happens so often it would be worth to make a puller just for this special case.

I haven’t tried it on this particular model. But I have been successful with other grinders. Instead of grinding the race with a grinder try just gripping the race hard in the vice. Use your hands or channel locks and just twist and pull on the rotor. Put some rubber between your channel locks if your worried about scratching it.

Sketchy. Grinding the race is also sketchy but you wont damage the rotor or risk bending the shaft.

I just watched one of those "tool restoration channels" and the guy cut two grooves on the side the inner race and pulled it with a tiny bearing puller. I think this is by far the best method

Little induction heater coil does the trick. It’s a steel race and will heat really well quickly - well before the shaft gets very hot. It’ll almost fall right off. The induction heater supply can be a cheap Chinese thing, it won’t be used much, but when you need it, it’s really useful.

I can't expose that part of the grinder. The top bearing came out with the lower bearing stuck to something below. When I pry on a vice to remove the magnet from the stator the grinder almost spreads apart as if i am going to break it. Any ideas? It has a wierd screw that i cannot remove to take the lower part of the grinder apart.

Angle Grinders, by their very nature, live hard and mostly abusive lives. This grinder here, obviously has had the snot run out of it. Owner looks to have not even cleaned out the vent coverings? I’m not saying that the tool needs to be cleaned and polished all the time, but this one in the video HAS been abused. About the only grinders I know that will hold up to that level of use/ abuse, are Metabo and Makitas.

Would a junior hacksaw be any good
@fredbloggs4684

No it wouldn't, because you're removing the inner race of the bearing and it's hardened steel. A hacksaw wouldn't even make a mark on it. Grinding away in one place until you weaken the metal and it splits and comes loose on the shaft is the best way. You'll know when you're nearly there because the 'flat' that you're grinding will turn blue due to the heat just before it splits.
