Frr, there’s almost no good horror movies anymore. My fav has always been Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), the practical effects are top tier! The 2021 TCM is amazing use of CGI the blood, the flayed faces, the guts n shit. Amazing. Edit: CGI horror movies now are just shitty.

@@sarahbelle81 cgi is great in certain contexts but i feel like with horror, and especially body horror there's a certain quality that you just can't replicate with cgi and personally, I never find cgi as scary.

I'm happy to see you covering Olivier and his work. I'm an artist myself, so I get wanting to find ways to take art to the next level. Each artist's method is their own, and this was Olivier's. Hopefully this will get more people to see him as something more than "That guy from the creepy dank web videos".

If been following Sazagan for seven ish years. If anyone else did this, I would think they’d be someone who just wants to be like a tiktok influencer or something like that. These pieces he does with his face are insane and one of the most original ideas I’ve ever seen an artist do without it being insincere or hacked. His work reminds me of the German expressionism or something, I don’t know. I just really respect this guys work and I don’t know anyone else who could pull this off

@rabbitsrefuse
@rabbitsrefuse Жыл бұрын
@@VortexKiller2 I think the neat part about it is that it introduces his art to new audiences. That’s never a bad thing. Whether you love it or hate it is subjective, but anything that brings people to something they haven’t seen or heard before is just tops. Kind of like kids getting into music because it’s in a show like Stranger Things. I find the deep web/creepypasta “lore” behind his work irritating because it detracts from what he is actually doing and trying to present to his audience. But if you can push past that and find more of his work to take in, it was worth it.
@VortexKiller2
@VortexKiller2 Жыл бұрын
@@rabbitsrefuse I'm not trying to relate or associate the creepypasta to his art. I'm praising the art of the creepypasta story, whether that includes me praising his work doesn't really matter to me, I just really enjoy the "loss of all senses and connecting to god" story of the creepypasta. And no I'm not religious, I just really like the depiction of it in the story.

i love to see performance art talked about with respect. so many people think of it as a joke or an example of a waste of art funding. i think the popularity of marina abramovic has helped demystify perfornance art a lot. but there can still be a lot of dismissal of performances that make people uncomfortable. melati suryodarmo takes a lot of flak online for her work, i think because people imagine artists do what they do in dead seriousness, whereas i think it's possible for the artist to acknowledge or even play on the humour of doing something weird - humour and joy and awkwardness can be a side effect or can even be part of what the performance interrogates. sometimes we as the audience should try to just sit with those feelings a bit more.

Found a new artist to adore today! Also, I just want to say how much I love the recent focus you've had on art. It's such a rich topic and your coverage is thoughtful and engaging. The mainstream opinion of art, especially performance art, as a waste of time or pretentious because people are terrified of being "wrong" and so refuse to engage with anything interpretive or abstract is exhausting to a sad old art-kid like myself. I look forward to re/discovering more artists through your videos!

I'm a big fan of the band Tool. His work reminds me of something I would see in one of their videos which are produced by their guitarist Adam Jones. Jones himself worked on a number of Hollywood movies in the 80's and early 90's as a visual/make up artist and sculptor prior to Tool becoming a major band. Here is an excerpt from his Wiki: "After graduation, he went to work at Rick Lazzarini's Character Shop. During the next two years, he worked on the TV show Monsters. He designed and fabricated a Grim Reaper makeup and a zombie head on a spike (later used in Ghostbusters II) among others. After that, he went to Stan Winston's special effects workshop, where he worked on Predator 2, sculpting a unique-looking skull for the Predator's spaceship interior.[4] Jones worked on several other films in Hollywood doing makeup and set design, including Jurassic Park, Batman Returns, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Dances with Wolves, and Ghostbusters II. He did the "Freddy Krueger in the womb" makeup for A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child, as well as work for A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master." Perhaps the two should work together on a new music video. God knows I would love to see a new one! lol For those who enjoy the work by Olivier de Sagazan but don't know about Tool, I would recommend checking out their videos. You may not like their music but would probably find some of their videos very enjoyable.

First piece was "man throwing clay on his face". After that it becomes less about what he creates from the clay and more about how he's doing it. Since he cannot really know exactly what he's creating, his movements, the agression or subtlety within the movement becomes the piece. Like it evolved into an unintentional dance. Im guessing if he got bored with this style of art he could simply film himself creating a sculpture or perform it live. Not really my cup of tea but as an evolving artist I can appreciate it.

I don't get it! 🤷‍♀️ Going by the comments I seem to be the only one that really doesn't understand the fascination with a guy who's literally covering himself in clay, paint and who knows what else. Some parts I actually found quite disturbing. I'm an artist along with half my family, all creating totally different pieces in totally different styles and media and liking totally different artists so I'm not narrow minded but this.... 🤷‍♀️ And aye I know it won't be a popular opinion but I honestly don't see the appeal nor the "talent" for lack of a better word. 🤔

a very interesting human, with large passion in art yes it's understandable but it's above the limits. Just doing with clay and hey is like a kid throwing food on his face like spaghetti and tomato sauce which there's no value to the point. It's like a kid making a picture with paint but there's no value to it because it's just nothing big. Moving on to an adult doing as a kid could do again there's nothing big about it, I just consider it as a hobby or his passion of doing it. But again in this planet we live there are people out there that get extremely excited and interesting in it but there's no value.
