This emergency dispatcher deserves a medal. The call and how he handled it, engaging with Dustin while gathering info for police force to intervene and not provoke a blood bath has to be part of future police force case study

I worked with Dustin at an adult entertainment job, he was a canadian playboy exotic dancer "Dustin Rose". It was surreal when he was arrested. Many of us were aware that he was unhinged, due to his ex warning another co-worker to stop being romantically involved since she believed he was dangerous. Then he murdered her. It was especially disturbing to find out the killings were days apart. The only thing we didn't know about was how gruesome the scenes were, police never released that information until after the trial, from what I could tell. I do remember asking Dustin about his tattoos. He has a giant pentagram in the centre of his chest and I just figured he was into heavy metal or something... I never could have imagined how truly disturbed he was at the time.

You bring us the story and we'll listen. Most of us don't mind you switching things up because we know you bring us quality content.

I'm a 911 dispatcher myself, and I have to say that the dispatcher did an amazing job. He was able to get vital information all while keeping the suspect calm. In doing so, he kept the first responders, the suspect himself, and any other innocent person in the vicinity safe. Excellent job Sir, thank you for your service. In the end, though, such a senseless crime. Many prayers to their families and friends.

This is such a trip. I moved from Calgary to Australia almost 10 years ago, but I lived in Hidden Valley, and it was so weird seeing my house on a Coffeehouse Crime episode.I had no idea this had happened.

Visiting the Dominican Republic as a child, I would go coffee gathering or picking with my aunts who each had a patch of coffee trees behind their homes, beautiful memories.

Poor Adam, having to grow up being abused by Dustin. Sibling Abuse is a real thing, but it's often minimalized or excused as normal sibling rivalry. There definitely needs to be more awareness brought to this very damaging, unacceptable behavior.

At least Dustin understood the senselessness of what he had done and spared everyone the grief of a trial.

It's so rare to hear what seems like actual remorse in these cases. Of course he does need to be locked up away from society but this whole thing is just...sad for everyone.

Dustin was traumatizing his entire family and his girlfriend for years leading up to their murders, but he's oh so polite when talking to the dispatcher. GMAFB. What a sad situation for his brother and his girlfriend's family. He seems like he was already a killer, just waiting to come out as one. All that rage as a younger person shows it.

I live in Edmonton Alberta about 3hrs North of Calgary. I remember this case, it broke my heart when I heard it in the news. My heart weny out to the family and friends then and it still does now.

Anyone that has never experienced someone with roid rage cannot even begin to imagine what it does to someone’s mind. Their demeanor, temperament, who they are, EVERYTHING changes. They will have no control over their aggressive behavior towards anyone in their way. It will make a completely normal person an absolute monster. And then when they finally do get off of them, it’s usually massive weight gain. Don’t do drugs, y’all.

I love your content from the first episode. Can you do the case of Michelle Krüger? A highschool girl who dissappeared in Berlin (Germany) in brought daylight. Her murderer took advantage of her kindness. Her mum was my colleague and still full of hope finding her alive :(

I've lived in Calgary for 35 years. We have horrific issues with domestic violence and spousal homicides , there have been at many high profile cases like this one in recent years. Really disturbing , one was 2 blocks from my home.

Thank you for doing this case, Adrian! I was one of the requests for this case as it happened when I lived in Calgary. Dustin clearly had serious anger issues and perhaps if he had gotten the help he needed, this never would've happened. My heart breaks for Taylor's family and Dustin's siblings, especially Adam. I hope he doesn't blame himself for bringing Taylor into Dustin's life.

It's always so strange seeing a local story on a true crime channel. I've lived in Alberta my whole life so all the houses and everything is so familiar - plus I remember the case. It just makes it more real somehow.

Can you do the case of Geoff Farrar? It’s a murder that I don’t think for much coverage outside of our local rock climbing community. It happened just a little before I got into rock climbing and I had forgotten about it until my skills allowed me to climb in the same area as the murder.

This seems like one of those cases where everything in the murderer's life just fell apart no matter what he did. You can say "it was because of this" or "his parents should have done this" but I don't think anyone made huge mistakes raising him or anything, it all just ended up wrong. Really a tragedy.

At the start of this video you said “take a guess where this story takes place” and I guessed a few places where ALOT of crazy stuff happens and then you said Canada and then I said “oh shit, that’s my country” and then you said Calgary and then I said “oooh shit, that’s where I grew up” 😂 I definitely ate my words. I’ve never heard of this case before tho, it’s super sad. Thank you for bringing awareness to this case.

Man this is such a tragic story that feels like another turn of events that could have been completely avoided if Dustin got the proper treatment for his mental health early on. He clearly had issues with anger and of course using steroids didn't help. It's times like these where people need to crack down on loved ones who they feel might become a danger to others or to themselves, whether that's an intervention or sending them to therapy/rehab. Especially after Dustin's threat to the family after getting kicked out. Hopefully the families who have lost their loved ones have had time to heal after this horrific situation. My heart hurts for them and I truly hope that Dustin can get the proper help he needs.

Eerie missing persons cases would make for a compelling mix up. The idea that someone can just suddenly vanish is both creepy, and morbidly fascinating to me

I would love to see more unusual cases. I keep rooting for you to do the missing person-case of Therese Johannesen from Norway in 1988 (9-year old girl went missing and has never been found), but I would also like to see your take on the missing case of the 5 Sodder children in 1945.

I have PTSD and this morning (Australia) waking up from a particularly bad nightmare has left me feeling very awful. Logged onto KZfaq to find something to watch to distract myself and god, what a pleasant feeling to see you have uploaded. True crime has been one of my interests for many years but you are my favourite true crime channel because you put a particular sense of importance on remembering the victims and not just focus on the perpetrator. Thank you all your work, it’s always enjoyable.

There’s been a lot of content about the highway of tears by other creators and I personally find mysterious open ended stories like that often just leave you feeling disappointed and frustrated with more unanswered questions than you had to begin with. I just think the stories you cover where justice has been done or we know the outcome, there is a conclusion and it’s more enjoyable to watch. I always like the originality of your true crime videos and how you cover unknown/lesser known cases from all over the world. Also love to see your lovely cat 😻

This is what happens to children who aren’t disciplined at all growing up. And unfortunately our world is full of that now. Discipline doesn’t have to be physical but it does need to be consistent.

As someone who consumes far too much true crime, I have so much respect for the 911 operator. I wish that this was the norm. I am also very stuck by the genuine sadness in Dustin's voice. I don't believe that he should be exempted from consequence but he seemed to honestly regret his actions, which sadly also isn't the norm.

I'm down for whatever content you want! I love your style of videos and I'm interested in all the topics, including coffee, that you've brought up so far. I'll definitely watch them!

This is one of those cases that is just devastating all around. A man with a very troubled and dark past, and a very brutal ending that definitely could've been avoided had the two people never even met in the first place. Also, a man like Dustin taking steroids and hitting the gym 10 times a week could only lead to something this bleak, and if there's one thing I've learned in my life it's that you NEVER take threats lightly no matter what.

lived my whole life in this city, had heard of the case in passing, but when I saw the house where this family lived my stomach dropped. I've seen this house a million times. haunting to think that all that went down in such a quiet neighborhood.

As a Canadian: Highway of Tears needs to be screamed from KZfaq. There's already a number of videos on it, and there's still not enough. I'd love to see it brought to the high viewership you have. I live in that area and it's a disgusting stain on the beauty of Canada that this has never been solved. The RCMP has a lot to answer for, and it goes back decades.

I live in Calgary, this case and the Brentwood 5 shook our city, among many other cases. You never know what someone is capable of. Rip to a beautiful young lady, and to the parents.

I remember hearing about this. I often go to Calgary. Having this so close to home is making me reflect on the murder that happened in my family’s cafe in February. We still don’t know why the guy did it. I am glad that he didn’t run, but there’s so many unanswered questions.

As a person living ver close to the Highway of Tears, I would love to see some in depth coverage on it. There are also two very odd disappearances in BC that may interest you, the Madison Scott case and the Ryan Schtuka case. Both disappeared under very mystifying circumstances. Love your content, thank you very much for the work you put into your cases.

Things have changed so much over my life, I’m 62 now, that I only knew of things that happened locally. The content is always interesting. I do wish that all of them were able to be solved because it’s a huge disappointment when things happen like the murderer kills himself and can’t be brought to trial. But overall I think you’re doing a great job. Enjoy your coffee and take care.

I know this gets thrown around so often, but I'm going to throw it out once more because it bears repeating. If you find yourself in a toxic relationship, you NEED to get out of it. Since it could get fatal....

I was Dustin's foreman a month before this happened, he was a good worker but started to slip in his last couple weeks at our job, he started missing work and at one point we saw him leave the job to pick up drugs just across the street, the day we fired him I had to bring him downstairs and talk to him first, he started to freak out and told us we didn't care about his mental health and that us and the company where f**ked up and he stormed out slamming our work gate on the way out, that was the last time I seen him until I seen the headline in the news....

I think widening the range of content on Coffeehouse Crime is a great idea. This is such a sad story. Dustin seems a very lost and troubled soul who lacks the basic elements of anger/impulse control. It seems to me that a vulnerable young man then met drugs that amplified his pre-existing propensity to violence and being out of control. Why aren't steroids illegal? My heart goes out to Dustin's girlfriend, his parents, his brothers and his own and his girlfriend's extended families. Also the first responders and others who dealt with the terrible aftermath. This is truly a tragedy of Shakespearean proportions. I think in this case the structure and discipline of prison exercised in a humane way for the rest of his life may be the best option for Dustin and might perhaps help him to retrieve something of the wreckage of his life.
