You'd be much better served to watch our video of the entire concert of the Divinyls in Concert on Long Island, which is just a handful below this one on our list of videos. The proof of the pudding is in the eating, whereas the average view of this video is less than a minute; the average view of the other video is 8 minutes, and it includes an entire album of the most well known hits.
This video was shot at a "punk rock" club in D.C., and to us at the time, it was just a lot of noise being thrown out to a crowded club of people with weird hair-dos and lots of jewelry stuck through their skin. It was so loud, and so crowded, that despite our love for Mark and Chris, we never stayed for the full show! The real deal is contained in my video of the show in a Long Island theater shot with Mark and Chris's permission, where the audience was not unruly, the acoustics were very professional, and the Divinyls did the entire soundtrack of their most popular album at the time, including the hit: "I Touch Myself." In 1988, when my dear departed wife, Lenore, and I were good friends of both Mark McEntee and Christine "Chrissy" Amphlett, the core of the Australian rock group, Divinyls, we owned a condo with son Gary, who was then in law school and a disk jockey in the Washington, DC suburb of Arlington, Virginia. Mark had told me that the Divinyls would be performing at a well known "rock" club in the District of Columbia called the "9:30 Club." We invited them to the condo for a quiet evening the night before their concert, and for us, a New York County Court Judge and a Family Court Probation Officer in Suffolk County, it was a very special evening, as Mark and Chris were fun to be with, and very exciting people. The next evening, we visited the 9:30 Club for their performance, and as you can imagine, it was near bedlam. We stayed for about 30 minutes (the volume was intense and the club was mobbed), and with their knowledge and consent, once again I videoed part of their show. Here it is in the heart of the "punk rock" craze. Once again, pardon the crude nature of the video, as it was shot on primitive VHS tape, but the tape has, fortunately, survived in tact for all you Divinyl and Judge Stuart Namm (tongue in cheek) fans.

Divinyls were an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1980 and featuring vocalist Christina Amphlett and guitarist Mark McEntee. As the focal point, Amphlett performed on stage wearing a school uniform and fishnet stockings, often using an illuminated neon tube as a prop and displaying aggression towards band members and the audience. The band, originally a five-piece, underwent numerous lineup changes with Amphlett and McEntee as the core members, before breaking up in 1996.
In May 2001 the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA), as part of its 75th Anniversary celebrations, named "Science Fiction" as one of the Top 30 Australian songs of all time. The band was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame in 2006 and in late 2007 Amphlett and McEntee reconvened to record a new single and begin working on a new album. The band played a short series of live gigs in Australia in late 2007 and early 2008.
Divinyls have released five studio albums, with four of them reaching the Top 10 in Australia and one, Divinyls, reaching No. 15 in the US. Their biggest-selling single, "I Touch Myself" (1991) achieved No. 1 in Australia, No. 4 in the US and No. 10 in the UK.
