My symptoms started March 15th this year. Feet got numb first, then leg weakness, no pain just numbness. Slowly went from walking to a walker and then to a wheelchair within 8 weeks. My hands are now getting tighter. Bowel and bladder are working ok. My treatment was steroids, didn't work. Started PT last week. Good friend had same thing last year and she was back walking and driving in 6 months. Hang in there, stay positive and keep your body moving.

Where on the spine was your inflammation? Ive noticed, 6 months in, that I have some pins n needles in the hands and what feels like "trembling" in the upper back...which is so weird. In T9 🤷🏻

@@djelliott4524 It was in my t5-6 area. There was also a weird sensation in my upper spine/neck area when I tilted my chin to my chest. The name is Lerners syndrome or something like that. It has gone away. I am almost 100% back to what I was before this happened to me. I still have some weird sensations in my back and feet, but most of my muscles have recovered and hitting the gym is a plus. Best of luck to everyone suffering from this.

I fell ill 13 months ago, resulting in paralysis from the waist down. After consistent heavy steroid treatment, I am walking, even running. I still have major bladder and urological problems, potentially needing to self-catheterise. However, the recovery has been vast, however difficult it has been (I am now only 20 years old). Thanks for sharing a video about something hardly ever talked about, or even known of.

That is a painful disease. I was in a wheelchair and bedridden for months then went to rehab to walk again. I am fully recovered now, I was diagnosed with TM in 2015. Swelling from c1-c5. from 10 medications to 0 medications. The best shape of my life now.

@@arshrocks7272There’s always hope. I spent my 70th birthday in the hospital when I was diagnosed with TM in 2022. My legs were and are now partially numb. I went from a walker to to hiking poles to now just a cane.

I was struck with TM in 1984. From 1985-2022 I have been very independent using crutches. Because I am older than 40, I notice I get weaker significantly in lower legs. I am in a wheelchair but rehabbing my legs to regain mobility

I was diagnosed with TM in November 2018 it affects both legs and lumbar region. Thankfully I'm able to walk. I've recently been prescribed Amitriptyline and also been using a TENS machine twice a day. I think these are slowly helping my symptons to be less painful. I hope this info helps anyone with TM.

Thank you for sharing. I didnt know abt the vitamin D...Im gonna have to supplement. Mine stopped at T9(for now praise the Lord)...stem cells also? Im gonna have to talk to my neurologist. Have you found that anyone with TM has had multiple "attacks"? I was told that it hits once, that after abt 6 months its reached its peak(Im at 6 months or so) and that 1/3 get better, 1/3 stay roughly the same with mild improvements, and 1/3 stay the same. Competitive rowing is amazing good on ya!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Thank you for your story. I was diagnosed with Neuromyelitis. What is the difference between Neuromyelitis and Trannsverse Myelitis
@TheDoctorsCorner321
@TheDoctorsCorner321 2 жыл бұрын
Transverse myelitis refers to an inflammation of the spinal cord. It has many different causes including autoimmune. On occasion, neuromyelitis optica or optic neuritis are associated with transverse myelitis (TM). Optic neuritis is an inflammation of the optic nerve in the eye. This is commonly seen as the most prevalent first symptom of Multiple Sclerosis. Of course, this can be very complicated so I hope I provided some clarity. Thanks for watching the show.

@@TheDoctorsCorner321 Thank you for answering my question. I have both TM and NMOS. It came on overnight. The Doctors could not find a cause. They called it the Perfect Storm. It has been a struggle. I am in PT learning to do things that once came naturally. Crazy disease. I hope one day they can find a cure!

It is my understanding that TM is usually a one time attack and NMOSD is ongoing.
