TBH that duo could work but it would require Mitch to want to play and be active off ball. Garland is a true point and it takes away all his best assets as a player making him play off ball were as it would help Mitch score more
@cobrakai3882 күн бұрын
FAX!!! But the issue with that is Spida wont do it and he's not familiar with that kind of system. The dude is great but rely too much of iso ball. Spida kinda reminds you of MONTA ELLIS when Steph was a young buck back then. Then when Monta gone, Steph became who is now. I'm not saying Garland will become Steph but if he has the ball 80% of the game compare to now playing besides Spida, he for sure will show his true potential. Similar situation happened with Halli and Maxey, both dudes were playing backseat with their co-pilots before but now given the opportunity, true potential is showing up. Hate to say it but Spida should not be the #1 of the team. He's great and really talented but not #1. Imagine him playing alongside true #1 like Jokic, Giannis, Jimmy and Lebron.

in 2022 garland was one of the most efficient off ball players in basketball, his skillset is similar to stephs (obviously to a much lesser degree) i think with atkinson its very possible that he unlocks the core 4
@334ben10Күн бұрын
@@heythatsmika6498 😂 his skill set is nothing like Curry, one is score first the other pass first, one is a all time shooter the other is streaky. If you actually watch DG or even just look at his numbers overall him playing off ball has literally made him a worse player. I highly doubt he was the most efficient off ball BUT even if he was 71% of his shots came after him doing 3/4+ dribbles and 80% of the time he scored he had the ball in hand for 3+ seconds meaning he did it on very limited attempts since most of his shots came from him creating them.

I kind of feel like Cleveland would benefit from a trade similar to the Haliburton Sabonis trade. Find a team like the 21-22 Pacers who would give up a nice piece for Garland. Garland would be great on a lot of teams it's just not a great fit for him in the backcourt with Mitchell. It's similar situation to what Sacramento had with Haliburton and Fox.

Everyone with strong opinions about the Cavs in both directions are spewing nonsense. The story of this team is uncertainty, nuance and maybes. "Donovan wont resign!" He resigned but on a short term deal. "Garland is a bad fit and wants out!" Darius had a really good year before this season and started the year with a major injury and losing 12 pounds he never got back. Can't trust the he wants out rumors. No reputable source on those and could just be smoke. "Cavs are gonna make no moves the GM said so!" And yet lots of rumors of interest in players. Could be posturing to keep the price on their players high who knows. "Cavs are fine! It was just injuries run it back" The criticisms have some merit. Change is needed. Maybe just the coach but maybe more. Anything could happen. Be patient guys.

I was kind of hoping we traded him & Jarrett Allen to get get as much as we could for them. Mobley plays better without Allen and Garland is an all star without Mitchell. I'm not upset we retained Mitchell I just think we could've improved the starting lineup and add great bench depth but now that we keep Mitchell we definitely gotta get Allen traded for some solid offensive pieces. We did jus draft Jaylen Tyson which is someone at the 3 spot that could generate offense so that's a plus we need someone that can create their own shot and play off ball at the 3 he's still a rookie going into his first season so we'll see how things play out

I think Koby Altman’s comments in the Bickerstaff firing press conference were telling - they like this roster as it is. People forget that this is still a very young, developing team that has taken HUGE strides in a short time. I think they defy expectations and roll with what they have - including Mitchell and Garland starting at the 4 and 5. Chemistry cannot be understated in the NBA. We’ve seen it time and again where stars need ample playing time together to really mesh offensively - especially when you’re talking about young guys. I also think Garland really works on his game and body in the off-season and comes into camp a vastly improved player. I think they buck the trend of swapping existing talent for “more complimentary pieces” and enter camp with the core intact. AND I think that decision will pay dividends in June 2025.

The nature of fandom changes when every star who signs a contract does so with the near-explicit intent of immediately leveraging more from the team or they leave. It doesn't make fans inclined to give any grace towards their team's shortcomings. And the cycle grinds even more. I know they are professionals, but how attached can fans be if every star is nothing but a mercenary? It is really a cynical era in pro sports. You might say it has always been so, just the power was completely with ownership, but from a fan's perspective it simply means that now both sides are unlikeable.
@blablablaa14Күн бұрын
This is the worst thing the Cavs could do. Within one year of the signing of this deal, Mitchell will ask out, and will get to leave. Because his threat is "well I am opting out the end of the year if you don't trade me to the Lakers or some other team he likes more", then they have to trade him or they lose everything for nothing. This is why they aren't trading Garland yet, because they know they are losing Mitchell in a year basically

Allen let his team down during the playoffs last season and they seem to look better with him not on the court so I don't know why they would hold on to him. Then again you wonder why he wasn't already traded if he was going to be traded because they could do that trade without knowing what was going to happen with Donovan Mitchell. His possible deal really only affected their back court situation. I think they should try to get off of Allen while he's very desirable and before his stock might drop. The way that team is right now they're not going to finish above 4th in the east. Even fourth might be difficult because of Orlando and Indiana.😊
