Really important comment, thanks. Music was, is, and will always be able to shape the emotions of humans. Most importantly to disperse a pilgrim under the curse of the empty emotional vessel, where exists only darkness and without any light, forever. Amen¥

OMG!!! This is exactly the video I was looking for after listening to my succession of other videos! Thank You Lord! You knew my mind. I always like The Doobie Brothers, because they are a friendly kind brotherly love, kind of old Southern rock group from my growing up years in the '70's! We even sang this song, and other Doobie Brothers songs at our summer camp from 1975-1977! Old Black Water, too. About a year ago, I was really depressed one day, and I had a feeling to listen to The Doobie Brothers songs, and the feeling was right, because listening to these songs delivered me right out of my depression. Well, thankfully I'm not depressed today, I just wanted to stop by and visit this video. 🤓

I never wore platforms, I thought they were extremely dorky. Me and my friends wore harness buckle boots with 14" shafts, stacked leather heels and leather soles, year round in Michigan. Treated with bear grease, they were great for walking through snow and the blunt toes didn't cramp my feet like cowboy boots do.

It will be obscurata. It's obscurata already. Doesn't speak to the quality of the music though. Very good act. I've played with guys this good. Never played with a band with guys this good that sang this well though. I think for 70s studio musician supergroups you'll probably have Steely Dan in 100 years popping up. Several notable tunes. Maybe "what a fool believes" from these guys. That's a nice piece of pop for some hipster to cite in 2123.

Two things I noticed:. Check out my man Michael on the piano....LOVE HIM!!!!!!! And notice how back then, the crowd remains virtually still during performances....weird! They had to feel the music but remained still. Lol. I see that so much when viewing performances of yesteryear.

I noticed the same thing about the audiences of then. Now, you can't keep the audience from trying to get on the stage. Lol

Back then Like my brother and his girlfriend took me and my soon to be husband at the time to see BTO and they literally the security I talking about pick two guys up for arguing and drug them out and others came and helped throw them in the parking lot. Nowadays everyone's Sue happy so the fears gone.

I think it was more respect and admiration for the live performers. It may be the mind of venue it was. They weren't rovkin' out but believe me, the audience was appreciating it.

The good ole days before auto tune. This song brings back great memories.

Yep. Before autotune, you actually had to have talent back in those days. The Kartrashians would have never made it back then, maybe as call girls, but that's it, lol

They had autotune back then, it just was very poor quality. In this same concert, Keith Knudsen used autotune to sing "Sweet Maxine" -also the Kardashians aren't singers, they're "models"

This is my very favorite Doobie tune because the harmonies are just so delicious. Singing this with a bunch of friends is such fun!

Have to agree, with a story of being in elementary school on a field trip to go roller skating, and while standing outside with some friends waiting on line to get in, someone started singing this song and we all immediately started to harmonize, knowing all the lyrics. We were like 10 or 11 years old and this was 1978-79? Yet I still remember this vividly, all these years later.

@@troddy3925 the first time I sang BW with a bunch of friends was on the way home from a hockey game. It came on the radio and we sang along with the recording. When it ended, we turned of off the radio and sang it all over again. By the time we got home my friends and I must’ve sung “Black Water” close to 10 times and we never got bored. It became our group’s special song. Whenever I hear it now I automatically see myself in my car with my high school buddies and we’re all singing “Black Water” along with the Doobie Brothers or singing it a cappella.🎵

two things i always tell people i really miss in rock and roll music today, the great harmonizing vocals of the 60s and 70s, and the boogie woogie piano of the 50s first wave.
