I'm a black guy who grew up in 70's and we all jammed on the Doobie brothers,that was the group.There was none of that black or white stuff happening at my high school,and I went to an all white school,and we all partied together,never no problems everyone was real cool in the 70's. I don't no what happened to our great music from the days that I grew up in. Went into the Marines and came back home and people were spinning on there heads.

Thank you! "Long Train Runnin"is everything. When you get a minute Van please listen to the studio version of "Long Train Runnin".It is amazing.That bass is kicking ass.Michael McDonald gave them a more mellow sound,but Tom Johnston is great.Also check out "China Grove".

Somebody took out the Bass, Drums, and acoustic guitar. Do the recorded version when you can. This sounds like a dub of some sort.

These guys should have been on Soul Train We used to go to my grandparents house every Sunday after church and my grandfather would be in his favorite chair watching Soul Train and I would sit there every Sunday and watch the entire show This brings back some very good times of my life THANK YOU VAN for everything you do man Much respect

In my youth, I saw the Doobie Brothers half a dozen times. They were my first car date in 1974. BTO opened for them. I never left a show disappointed. I had The Captain and Me which had this song on it, on vinyl, 8 Track and later on cassette and then on Cd. From this album you should check out Without You which is a banger, Clear as the Driven Snow which is wonderfully strange and South City Midnight Lady, a smooth ballad. Great reactions. Never pause during a hormonica solo. Keep them coming.

The remastered version is good here. But, as stated by others the live and studio version is the bomb!! This is one group I haven't seen live... among the GOAT groups for sure w/so many hits. "Listen to the Music"(recently virtual session is outstanding) IMO is their "anthem". And yes...Hail to the Redskins!!

Been a fan since 1971 and I was lucky enough to see them live in 73 along with Ten Years After and Rare Earth and they came back out and jammed with Rare Earth on I Just Want To Celebrate to close the show

Doobie Brothers have been a staple favorite since they came on the scene. I have loved them since I can remember first hearing them in the 70's and my favorite song is "Long train running". That harmonica solo kills me every time. Good choice. Play some more Bro. Walter

In 2006, my husband & I drove from the OH/WV border to Northern CA & back to visit family & see the country. We listened to The Doobies frequently during that 3 weeks 7000-mile round trip.

This was HUGE when I was in HS. Man, what we took for granted. The Doobie Bros were great - even before Michael McDonald joined them in 78? 79? Not sure...but thanks for bringing me back! Love your channel, LFR Family!

What version is this? I'm 63 and I've never heard this...it sounds like other sounds were dubbed in. The bass guitar is completely missing

There are three iterations of the Doobie Brothers. I love all of them. First, the original casting of the band. Second after Tom Johnston left, Michael McDonald took some time after jumping in with both feet to get the old music down Pat just d as o the band could complete the first tour season, that Tom started but couldn’t finish. I saw the DB on a tour before Tom Johnston got sick and they were very good. I also saw them just after TJ left the band and before Michael McDonald joined them. Terrible is putting it nicely. The Doobies were disorganized, crowd was disappointed...because NOBODY told us, the audience, that TJ was sick, they just played a gig w/o their lead singer and guitar player. The world learned soon, Tom almost died. But he has made a great recovery. Thank God! Just love the Doobie Brothers, may we all Rest In Peace!

It's interesting you like the Doobies and Credence Clearwater Revival so much. They're both San Francisco Bay area bands that incorporated so many other styles into rock. For a softer Doobies song, I recommend South City Midnight Lady, a perfect blending of rock, jazz, and country (if you can picture that).

This is like a dance remix of the song, sounds cool. but doesn't have those nasty basslines of the original. Definitely check the original for even MORE fire 🔥

Doobies are cool. Campbell CA. I was in a fraternity with one of the nephews. We were sent on a pledge hunt and ended up at Captain and Tennille's house. Captain had on his hat. Was funny.

Truly this remix doesn't even compare to the studio version. In fact this version makes me sad instead of making me vibe or sing along or groove in my seat like it usually does. You're better listening to a studio or live version.

just attended Doobie brothers 50 year anniversary tour at the KZfaq Theater in L.A (Oct 02, 2022) The house was packed, over six thousand seats. they are playing better than ever, the crowd was going crazy. It was an amazing concert!

Man, someone really messed with this … this remix, its cool, and well done, but adding a modern dance beat is not really the classic Doobie sound. I recommend checking out the original, then move on to Black Water, China Grove and the other ones that others have recommended. They were such a fantastic band, lots of hits, and plenty of great non-top-40 stuff too. Their version of Jesus Is Just Alright is pretty much the definitive one … such a burner!
