@@brucekay9290 According to Krieger in his book about the Doors, Jim had been drinking, as usual, and it was a mistake, normal for Jim though, he was almost always drunk or semi drunk. The band's instrumental support was actually pre recorded, they weren't actually playing live but Jim's vocals were not, which is why the miscue was in there.

During the late 60s I was working in Miami Courts and I saw when they brought Jim Morris to the courts due to his exposure during one of his concert in Miami, FL. The crowd was immense, and you couldn't see him at all.

Lots of the programs at the time wanted The Doors to perform but only on the terms of the show’s programmers. What set “The Smothers Brothers show” apart was that they weren’t afraid to let The Doors perform on the terms of the band.

The sax solo was not live - it was the studio version with a guy moving his fingers.........very poorly.

Shame, because the band asked Curtis Amy, who did the solo on the album, to recreate it for the show.

It was pretty common back then for the singer to sing over recorded music. A better option to lip syncing.

Travelling west, homeward bound for Los Angeles in August of 1984, got checked in at a motel in Davenport, Iowa and turned on the ol' telly. It was tuned to MTV. because each member that played an instrument were inspired by a style of music very! different than rock and from each other's taste in music, making this VERY unique and special i legit own everything but the interviews of jim on cd! which i must start next plus the dvds too as i lost them all i just blew $410 on 7 live doors cd's! that are highly OOP but i got lucky on the prices as i could only afford 2 cd's for $410! but i found them from non greedy sellers! i got in the 7 cd bunch the 6cd complete uncut doors new york for $104 with shipping! which goes for much more the other's too all 6 go for over $100-$180 each, but at $40-$75 i got the other 6 saved this money over a year too! only took 15-17 mainly, damn long years too finally get these!!!! i'm selling one copy of the doors live 2cd longest many say best concert! live in detroit 1970. only $35-$45 with shipping or offer on ebay! as i DO need 1 cd that goes for over $150 the doors great rehearsal 2cd!! but i have 2 detroit live cd's why i'm selling the different cover white/jim copy but same recording sound plus 2 extra songs at time last year cost me $60! so i lost it thought! but turned out was at my ill mother's place in her country cd's! but i just got the other cd of it again cheap for $40 he wanted $185 shockingly he took my offer of $40! i meant to say $140 but put $40 haha! he was awesome to sell it at such a price like new with the poster too which is rare!!......anyway...just a unique band a fan since 1988 age 9 when for $1 i bought waiting for the sun on vinyl at a fle market, then the old lady 'n man said wow you're so young son to know music they spoke on seeing doors live a few times sad he never made it to woodstock, they took out a special crate and sold me all the other 5 doors album lp's for $5 plus for $2 the 2xlp awesome best of weird scenes inside the gold mine, i was lucky as i had $10 for my birthday $5 from my mom, $5 from grandma! for $8 ya can't even buy 1 doors vinyl with a crack in it now!! later the next weekend i found the 2 doors live alive she cried and absolutely live on lp from same people!!! this all at a flea market here in texas. i miss the prices of things like vinyl's in the 80's!!! and as a small boy only knowing outlaw country like hank sr. waylon, haggard george jones, so on...the doors was rock and unique to me and i was FAR from knowing or doing drugs at age 9-14, first time age 14 i learned the doors and pink floyd were the best bands to relax get high to, age 38, still best 2 bands!!!! like still hank sr. is still the king of getting drunk n sad to music!!! i obviously no longer own those doors lp's lost em in 1996 when i got put in mental asylum 5 years! but held on wore em out good!! and still buying the cd's dont care much owning doors on lp though as i wanna relax drift away on 3cd changer.....fuck mp3's i refuse em still i love the discs and black metal and classical on vinyl though...

The sum of the parts, was never so true. They constructed their songs as a band, as a teen I was bummed when I heard, Paul, played some drums and guitar, or told the guys how he wanted them to play, during the 'White Album' sessions.. In The Beatles, whoever wrote the song pretty much was the producer of the song. They had to rush through the White Album (in order to meet a contractual obligation to the record company), so in many cases, they were recording more than one song at once, with John in one studio room, George in another, and so on. Paul, being the most adept at playing several instruments well, often played some or all the instruments because the others weren't available to play, and he had to get the songs done. He also played drums on a few songs when Ringo temporarily quit the band.

Uncle albert, yellow submarine, magical mystery tour, strawberry fields sound nothing like anyone else and were not copies of blues early singers, that shit was unique. Just as unique as 'the end' my favorite doors song, and as unique as so many doors songs.

I felt the other way, that “Wild Child” really rocked but “Touch Me” fell short of The Doors’ standards. That doesn’t mean I don’t not like “Touch Me”. I do and “Touch Me” was one reason why I bought “THE SOFT PARADE” album shortly after it came out in 1969.
