The Doors channel is the official KZfaq home of classic Doors live performances, The Doors albums, and contemporary performances and content honoring The Doors featuring John Densmore and Robby Krieger.
With an intoxicating, genre-blending sound, provocative and uncompromising songs, and the mesmerizing power of singer Jim Morrison’s poetry and presence, The Doors had a transformative impact not only on popular music but on popular culture.
The Doors’ arrival on the rock scene in 1967 marked not only the start of a string of hit singles and albums that would become classics, but also of something much bigger - a new and deeper relationship between creators and audience. Refusing to be mere entertainers, the Los Angeles quartet relentlessly challenged, confronted and inspired their fans, leaping headfirst into the heart of darkness while other bands warbled about peace and love. Though they’ve had scores of imitators, there’s never been another band quite like them.

This album is just as good as the others though I can see why people may find it harder to listen to... maybe 😂 I'm biased cause Doors albums, live shows & bootlegs are amongst the few things that keep blood pumping through me veins 😂 Blues is one of the others.

This performance really showcases Morrison's mastery of the audience. This was the opening song of this show, which was obviously a huge deal to them. You can see people are still milling around and getting to their seats and generally not paying attention. A few minutes in and he has the crowd won over and hanging on every word. What a legend.

I'm 22 and I'll feel forever cheated that I was born so late. Their music, his voice, speaks to me in ways nothing modern ever could. I miss him terribly. Jim Morrison was definitely very unique, great singer, his vocals were off the chart. He was absolutely gorgeous, very different. His songs were very memorable, but he really didn't get the recognition he deserved. I think all his told a story from his perspective and alot of people really didn't understand what he was really trying to say, I know he knew what he was trying to convey, but alot of people didn't really get it. I think he was way before his time. His songwriting was what he really believed in, he was quite the character! I love his style and his unbelievable voice. I think there will never be another Jim Morrison, never. He was truly one of a kind!! RIP JIM MORRISON. YOU WERE TRULY SPECIAL. ONE OF A KIND FOR ALL TIME! THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER LIKE YOU IN THIS LIFETIME!! YOU WERE TRULY A STAR!!

The intro with just organ and keyboard bass takes you into another dimension. Just amazing. 1:33 what a moment. Imagine being Ray Manzarek: July of 1968. The song Hello I Love You is #1, his band is playing the Hollywood Bowl, and the counterculture movement is in full swing. He's on top of the freaking world and he is just soaking it in.

@@MattLullenberg Don’t, be. We had the worst seats behind the stage. All I remember is attending the concert with my buddies. We were too young to appreciate a lyrical genius at work. The following year we would see Jimi Hendrix at work. We boomers were fortunate enough to see musical history in progress. My favorite concert was New Riders of the Purple Sage, Quicksilver Messenger Service, and the Grateful Dead. A very small crowd meant we were able to sit on the floor directly in front of the stage. I’ll remember that concert until the day I die.

All of these guys were totally badass and at the top of their game. However, Ray took it one step higher. Playing the bass parts on a keyboard like a bass player and yet still doing all the organ riffs in another time and and different melodies. Plus the left foot never stopped keeping the basic time. I am so thankful I grew up in such an amazing time for music , late 60's and early 70's. Nothing these days compares. The Doors were and will be, one of my absolute favorite bands of all time. Almost no other music takes me back to that time so completely either.
