Suboxone won't make you fail for opiates, it has to be tested for specifically, and to my knowledge typically isn't. However it is still probably better to get something official from your doctor that says it's fine for you to take it and function, or that it's needed for you to function. If that doesn't work I know personally that cold turkey is a bitch but you'll feel much better once you're through it.

Correct. Please refer to the Certified Medical Examiners Handbook - page 209. The only exceptions explicitly stated to this are marijuana and methadone which are disqualifying even with a prescription.

I was also told methadone is no longer a disqualifing medication either. It was changed in 2017 but most Drs go by old rules.

Generally you will be OK on a prescription drug as long as you have a note from your doctor stating that it is safe for you to drive while taking it. Of course all of this is under the medical examiners discretion.

I'm not sure about your individual situation. Urine samples for the DOT physical are not sent to the lab and will not be screened for drugs. Please see my video on urinalysis for the details on what we are looking for.
