I'm the insurance administrator to small select group of first responders, including their group of an enlarging number of retirees, myself included. I am planning on writing an article for their news letter on hearing loss and HA. Between this video and my HearingUp provider you have supplied me with a ton of information. Thanks.

This was an EXCEPTIONALLY good show, and not just for lay people. This was better than some of the CEU courses I’ve attended in to topic. Thanks!

We have new information since this episode with the new ACHIEVE study that was released in July of 2023. It showed a reduction of cognitive decline by 48% in at-risk individuals.

I’m testing out a Phillips from cos co…my only complaint is when I use Bluetooth for listening to my books, music. It keeps switching from ear to ear. Yesterday I went to a place that takes Medicare. And ordered a odacon 3…..hopefully it will be a better sound. At least I will have the Philips to compare to.

If you use an iPhone that is a model X Or later, you can update to ios16 and then, in Settings, turn on live captions! In accessibility Use live captions for phone conversations, watching videos (especially if captions are missing)! This feature has changed my life. Since the audio engineers who uploaded this video, did not include captions, you can turn them on, in your own settings! Apple to the rescue!!!

Thank you Dr Cook. Why are captions not done in real-time? I don’t think you ought to post any video until captions care there…. After all, these are podcasts (wonderful , btw) about hearing loss! Thank you and Dr Olson for all of your hard work and dynamic, easy to understand presentations. You guys are fantastic. I’m a retired speech pathologist, who has severe, bilateral hearing loss. Can’t wait until i can buy the resound hearing aids that reduce background noise. Now I have Phonak Marvel dinosaurs. Can’t stand going to parties with lots of people. Can’t hear single conversations. It’s so isolating.

Obesity is probably a large contributing factor because it is the most significant co-morbidity for other diseases-diabetes, heart disease, etc.

I have multiple sclerosis, the last time I had a relapse it took the hearing in my left ear. Which was my good ear. I have nerve deafness in my right ear. I have had that from too many ear infection that were not treated till I was 5 years old. Once I started school they checked my hearing and the Audiologist found it but I couldn't have any aids because they didn't make one for my situation. They do now but I don't like them. I like the quiet world. But, can M.S. take your hearing just ( bam) just like that?

@@DrCliffAuD Oh by the way I'm very very satisfied with my new Phonaks Audeo Life Waterproof sweating proof hearing Aides and my Phonaks Roger T.V. Bluetooth receiver works great 👍 without turning up the volume of the T.V. ‼️❤️🇺🇸 And I still have my old Phonaks Milo Plus hearing Aides as backup whenever I ran out of power if I stayed up late at night . So I can charge up my Phonaks Audeo Life Waterproof sweating proof hearing Aides and I always have been like a backup MacGyver and yes I keep 2 rolls of toilet papers in my truck and bottle water and Ducts Tapes and Swiss army Knife and folding insulation bags for groceries and Sawyers water filter if I'm going somewhere close to lake and river and creek if I get a chance to go fishing 🎣 and camping .

This is terrible. This is for deaf people and there are no subtitles and you can't lipread when you see both presenters or one at an angle.
