I think mistress getting banned on twitter just goes to show how easy it can be for a relatively small number of people to de-platform a small content creator. I dont think opinion changed that much on mistress tbh, i think people just became more vocal in their appreciation of her after seeing her get backlash for basically nothing

Lets be honest, Mistress was hated because she was a big queen. I loved her so much and she wasn't even that shady.

I think we can include Nina bonina brown as well. She was the winner in premiere, gaga told her to her face that nina was stunning. She was going REALLY confident and strong. Then, one episode, she was sad that she couldnt get blac chyna part but didnt make much of a fuss, aja had a full blown meltdown, yet nina was so criticized by the judges and was put in bottom 3 for NO reason. Then she also had strong moment in snatch game. However, after that valentina thing, she felt she didnt even have a fight and sent her friend home, however shea and others acted like she was bichy?? Then when she was in a sewing challenge where she couldnt do much and was in the bottom again, she was sad. We clearly know she suffers depression, but the other queens literally came for her for expressing her feelings.... like gurl. She was so strong in the begining, and then production flipped the switch and made her a damsel when she is a bad Bich

I can't speak for anyone else but S16 has been great because of all the bitchiness. Even just from the queens who are left, Plane Jane, Morphine, Q and Dawn are all savage and it's hilarious. That's not even considering some great catty moments from queens like Amanda and Sapphira. This whole season has been highly entertaining.

I love how Plane is praise for being so shady when essentially all she says is "you're a pig you're ugly and your drag is stupid" but when MIB and Luxx give actual shade they get them hate nukes from some of the fanbase. It's actually laughable just to see how much she gets bc she's attractive and appeals to a certain part of the fanbase.

Speaking about Plane… She has been a complete fan Favourite in Russia from day 1. REPRESENTING the Russian family reunion level of meanness correctly.

I would add Miz Cracker to the list During season 10 she was an absolute fan favorite, maybe the biggest fan favorite. She followed Katya's footsteps of reviewing the show o her channel while it was airing and many many fans adored her humour and wit. That combined with her "robbed" storyline also added to her popularity, because she came close to winning lots of challenges but would just be able to snatch a win at the end of the competition, and she was eliminated by Kameron the following episode. Fans really wanted her to succeed and I'm SURE that if Miss Congeniality was voted by fans on season 10, she would have got it. Ok, forward the tape a little bit to All Stars 5, for some unexplicable reason (I still don't get it) people started to hate her. They didn't like her aesthetic, her personality, got mad whenever she got a win... And I still don't know what happened, because I don't see much difference in her on both seasons.

I’ve always been a plane fan since episode 1 and I love the villains of drag race bc they make such great tv. The sensitive fanbase can’t let good tv happen. There was a time where I did think Plane was going a bit too much on Amanda but I was still living for the drama. Same for mistress loved her since day one and her KZfaq channel has been so successful especially her collab with Plane the duo I knew the needed the moment I saw how shady Plane was.

I also think Mistress' very fast change in opinion on the twins made her more likeable. Especially that she became their drag mom.

I think amanda's drag being the crunchier in this season was a great arc to plane storyline, because she started the season bullying amanda constantly and then got sapphira's advice and turned a new leaf, i can see that she tried to make an storyline for her from the start but i didnt buy it but apparentely it is working.

Honestly I know a lot of people don’t wanna admit it but Plane really should win season 16. She has had a pretty flawless performance this season and has been the most consistent (yes, more than Sapphira imo). If it isn’t Sapphira or Plane I think it may impact the long term success of this season as the edit has shown them to be the most logical winners

Honestly, Mistress and Luxx are so incredible because they brought back that really old school season shade and energy that has been triggering newer fans since the double digit seasons started. And they managed to do it in a way that now they’re largely considered iconic by the fan base despite the initial backlash. Now we’re seeing it again with Plane and even people loving how devious Dawn is. I believe we can thank Mistress and Luxx for ushering in an era where fans for the most part grow to appreciate the “villains”. They desensitized the children 😂. The show is also doing a better job at portraying these people as fully fleshed out and well-rounded characters you still want to cheer on. Drag Race simply is better when there are equal parts drama/shade and heart.

I think it is VERY important to point out that in the cases of MIB and Luxx…the issue was how the Queen who they were directing their “Light Shade” at, DID NOT appear to receive it that way. Loosey appeared PER THE EDIT to have been broken by it. Same way the Amanda did. This difference for me in the Amanda/Plane situation and the MIB/Loosey situation, is that the shit that Plane said to Amanda, the entire cast also told her, and when you actually look at the interactions between them, Amanda is the one talking slick to Plane. The comment about having more respect for Q than Amanda, wasn’t the kinda slight that they tried to pretend it was, as the two of them weren’t really cool anyways. No one on Season 15 was dragging Loosey the way the MIB and Luxx were, and while we know now that it wasn’t as bad as the edit showed, it did feel worse as Loosey had a very good drag aesthetic, was great in challenges, could have potentially won (if Sasha wasn’t there), and seemed to have her spirit broken. Amanda was in over her head, from start to finish. And while she’s said that Plane made her life hell that summer, I’m not seeing it per the one specific criticism Plane through at her the third episode.

i would add alaska as well (she kinda did a 180 and then another 180 again lol) going into AS2 she was one of the biggest fan favourites and the favourite to win and by the end of AS2 people were saying she was “the most hated/worst winner since tyra” i say she did another 180 cause she was able to make the hate “work” for her and it didn’t last too long and she’s pretty well liked/respected these days

Honestly, we need to add dawn on here. At the beginning of the season I feel like everyone loved her, and she was an immediate fan favorite, suddenly she starts some tea, but then it all comes crashing down. She just wanted to be a silly lil twinky yet now all of the fandom dislikes her like plane at the beginning of the season ( I still love her)

I think it’s interesting that the fans often complain about it being RuPaul’s Best Friend Race but then when a queen is a “villain” they have to go attack that person relentlessly. It’s seemingly gotten better seeing the treatment of S16’s PJ, but otherwise it’s such a double standard!

I LOVED Mistress! She was so young and so wise that she blew me away! Adore Trixie. From the beginning. Q's hairline at the neck was always awkward, like her wigs were too small. Her unhappiness in not being the best at everything was a turn off. Jan never irritated me, either. Not too big a fan of Scarlett ... Plane Jane has some maturing to do. Socially especially.

I think the mistress hate is way overblown. I can only speak on the reddit response and she was one of the immediate fan faves. I think it was a very small number of people reporting her Instagram. Instagram itself says it can only take one report to get an account banned. So literally one person with 4 accounts could've done that. Besides that there wasn't much hate besides the usual small number of losers that just hate for no reason. There was no huge amount of hate. At least not any done openly That we could see online.

Wait... I am lost, what did Q do on social media that turned people against her? I don't keep up with everything religiously so I am confused.

One thing I will never understand is why people were mad at plane for coming for amanda when she had every right to. I understand that back in the day the underdog story worked because drag race wasn't as established as it is now and resources of queens was very limited, however a storyline like Jynkx's will never work in the modern format because we are so beyond that now. To come to the show and say that your skills are subpar but you are learning and growing is kind of offensive, we have an abundance of resources now to help people with their drag skills so there is no excuse, if you come to drag race unprepared you are stealing a spot from a performer who has put hard work and dedication into their craft. Plane had every right to come for amanda because amanda's skills were subpar and she stole a spot on a national stage to show off her subpar skills when someone else who is a harder worker could have been highlighted instead. I am glad amanda has gotten better and I love her personality and would love to see her on an all stars season but her acting like her criticism was unwarranted or came out of nowhere is just plain delusional. She got the placement and criticism she deserved and she should take it on her chin, god knows it's big enough to take the abuse, and move forward with improving her craft and focusing on her fans.

Sorry but it was way more than a "slight under performance" when talking about Trixie's stint on All Starts. She is not as talented as she believes. She won her fame just being silly with Katya. She is not talented enough to compete with real talented queens. Ultimately her fan base was 13 year old girls and they are not well rounded enough to be non biased when discussing talent or the lack thereof.
