The holy kingdom spans about 2 light novel books. Each season animates I think 3. They couldn't fit the Holy kingdom arc so they decided to make it into a movie and skip it in the anime. But holy shit is an understatement of what happens and is going to happen.

One thing the anime missed is the dragons' ability to "smell" the quality or richness of objects. One of the reasons why Hejinmal was scared of Ainz was because he could "smell" the robe and clothes Ainz was wearing, indicating that he is of extremely great status as even the gold pales in quality in comparison to Ainz's robes since they are Divine-tier equipment made out of Prismatic Ores which for the New World's standard are beyond every known metal. Hejinmal was quite worried when his father didn't realize Ainz's status due to his expensive robe as that would clearly indicate that they should immediately submit and try not to fight him.

Yeah, his father got blinded by greed to rob Ainz of his equipment, he didn't notice the disparity in their strength eventhough 'normally' he could.

It was stated in the Light Novel that Hejimal's father, mother(s) and siblings bullied him and demeaned him for his weakness and interests in studying knowledge. Which makes it far more understandable why he was so willing to sell them out to save his self. Olasird'arc , The leader of those dragons was the "Frost/White Dragon Lord" who was one of the "False Dragon Lords". He is nowhere near as strong as the "True Dragon Lords" , like for example the one we saw in S2 EP1, Hence why Olasird'arc was so incredibly weak (lvl 47). Its also why he needed and tried to make the Quagoa subservient to him as he and his dragons were at a standstill against a tribe of Frost Giants who were all but immune to their signature Frost Breath attack. Olasird'arc believed that the Quagoa, however weak they were, had the potential to tip the scales in his favor with their sheer numbers and their ability to gain strength from the materials and ores they consumed.

in fairness, hejimal probably saved his entire extended family (minus some) from being annihilated. he correctly gauged what attitude he should adopt when dealing with nazarick. if he wasn't there, ainz would kill 90% of them before finally subjugating them.

The Qoagoa leader has a skill (his scream) that makes his soldier blindly attack, theyre not doing it because theyre dumb or think they can win. The reason Shalltear and Aura didn't show their strenght is simply because theyre dumb, and assume that everyone should just bown down to Ainz without requiring a reason. Ainz made a mistake here by not giving them better instructions and assuming they'd think better

Ains did also promise the dwarves he would defeat the qoagoa, so he probably didn't care if there were causalties. Plus, given the fact that they didn't just want to raze the dwarven capital, but also sent special units to kill any survivors who fled, the qoagoa have no right to complain about what happened to them.

To be fair, it worked out well for Nazarick in the end, so Ainz probably don't care and it's not much of a Mistake. Ainz don't see any value on Quagoa, like how he see value on dwarven and their rune. Ainz just like collecting rare thing so Ainz probably didn't really care about the genocide as long as some of them still alive and joined Nazarick's side.

You have to remember that Shalltear is desperate to get back in Ainz's good graces, which is why she breaks down at the end. To the beings of Nazarick, being seen and loved by one of the Supreme Beings is everything to them. And since Ainz is not only the only Supreme Being left, but also the leader of them, their entire being is wrapped around serving him as well as they possibly can.

17:08 Shalltear's even scarier than you think. In the novel, Ainz describes in detail that if Shalltear had used her head in their fight in season 1 instead of just going all out, Ainz would have lost 100%. 33:51 Correct. This season skips over two novels (Volumes 12 & 13), which would take place after this episode. Also, it was less a joke and more Ainz thinking out loud way too much.

The Aura world item creates an isolated space from which one cannot leave. Before the battle with the Quagoa, she casts the spell and moves all the Quagoa into that space, which is why Pe Riyuro says they can't flee anywhere.

With the Quagoa, it was a basic(and tragic) miscommunication: Clan lord says "I need a reason to present to my people why we should bow to you". Shalltear and Aura hear "We do not submit". Massacre happens. That is why the clan lord later lamented that they should have shown their strength first. He was happy to submit since the start, just needed something to present to his people as a justification.

In the LN it's explained that dragons don't have any concept of familial bonds. It's very common for siblings to kill each other for territories. In fact dragons don't normally live together like these frost dragons. Hejinmal's father was actually described as reasonably wise to gather all of his families to create a sort of dragon army to fight against the frost giants. As for the Quagoa, the reason why they're charging against Shalltear mindlessly was because of the skill of their leader. As the clan lord he has the ability to rile up his soldiers and vanquish all of their fear, making them able to charge without any fear

hejimals mother, in the LN, was described at trying to run away when ainz nuked the father, where the other 2 were like all stunned and confused when situation happened, but she was immediately "okay time to bail outta here" hejimal was also straight up described as "hikikomori" by the LN to the point where wouldnt leave the room and his lower siblings (despite essentially all of em being way stronger then him) had to bring him food and drink to his room.... hejinmal is smart but not strong, the mother asked to send him cuz considered him a good judge of character and would be able to determine the danger of any enemy quickly, would be more capable at doing this then any of the other dragons. and she had a point with that. also btb, those glasses he wore are a 100% non magical item he just pilfered from the dwarfs ruins, he uses em to read books, despite having perfect vision tho.... its also hejimal in the LN that ask if his mother could be spared iirc, so always found that scene when the dwarf ask to spare the mother a bit confusing. oh yeah also all the frost dragons were described as snake-like. very thin and long. - ainz would have the dead dragons brought to nazarick for butchering then would attempt to try and revive em so that can butch em again, and while he will try this he considers it a low chance as the dragons would probably refuse the resurrection. but is still worth a try if can get multiple of its components in return. the frost dragons seem to be among the weaker variants of dragons around. they are immun to cold but weak to fire. and there are frost giants living in the mountains too which seem to be overall stronger then the dragons (the father and the stronger ones of his brood) could still manage to kill em tho. they too would get conquered and subdued by nazarick offscreen and employed to help build stuff later on.

The thing with the Dragon Lord is, in the Light Novel, it is noted that he actually CAN survive the encounter with Ainz. If he want to, he can analyze Ainz strength and noticed the disparity between their power and no chance of victory, and if he just does that, he would definitely surrender and be spared. However he got blinded by greed upon seeing Ainz's equipment and the greed took over his emotion and challenged Ainz. The dragon literally lived by greed and died by greed. Also the entire arc about this Dwarven Kingdom was supposed to be a whole one book, but they had to cram it into three episode anime, so there is so many things, detail, and interaction that got left out on the anime adaptation, so if you like it and have some free time, I totally recommend reading the Novel as well.

Others have previously commented that between this episode and the next one there's a timeskip in which the Sacred Kingdom Movie takes place in which is the Roble Holy Kingdom. So when you start episode 8 know a decent amount of time has passed by where The Sorcerer Kingdom has created a new relationship with the Holy Kingdom. For now that's all the context you need going into the events that'll begin next episode. A brand new arc 😊 my personal favorite arc of the series because of how insanely eventful it is. The best arc is probably the Holy Kingdom arc but the next one is my favorite

there was a minor b-plot happening in the background of dwarf kingdom arc where ainz gave the dwarfs an ingot of yggdrasil ore - one of the lesser prismatic ores, but still stronger then adamantium. wanted em to craft a set of armours for the lizardman (hubby of white lizard girl) to celebrate their childbirth, indebt em more etc. the runesmithe leader, who hates ainz, attempted to smith the set, but was unable to heat up the ingot. he eventually lost his mind and run off with the metal and disappeared, ainz shrugged and the dwarfs promised to make em 3 sets out of adamantium heavily enchanted + shield etc all for the guy. so ainz ended up still considering it a win, even tho the metal was lost....

Contrast that to the Quagoa King who did not capitulate immediately. 12:55 In the LN it was Hennjimal that asked for his *mother* to be spared. "Ah, Your Majesty. May I say something? Certainly, there is no way a mere four Dragons could begin to oppose Your Majesty. However, it would seem this one’s mother is in there. Could I ask you to spare her?" 14:00 After Ainz killed his father, Hejinmal almost blurted out "I'm the mother!" too. Dragons do not have kinship like mammals and the thing about 3 mothers was a lie to save the three wives and have them owe him a favor. 18:59 Both are correct. The Death Knights died due to the fall. Also some believe there is a monster in the chasm. No one who has gone down to investigate has ever returned. 22:15 Riyuro, the King of the Quagoa is a parallel to Jircniv in being a capable leader. This is what could have happened to the Empire if they went against Nazarick. The reason the Quagoa kept charging was the king's buff where the warriors have no fear. The two kings, Jircniv and Riyuro, would later meet and become good friends after recognizing in each other "you too?" 🙂 30:00 Shaltear used Gate to send the Quagoa and Dragons to Nazarick. Shaltear controls the dragons now as part of "Flatchest Airlines" 🙂 After this episode is the Holy Kingdom movie, "The Paladin of the Holy Kingdome Arc" which was Vol 12 and 13 of the LN. The anime EP8-13 skips to next arc which was Volume 14. Brace yourselves, it will be quite a ride. Episode 13's end you can't miss! 🙂

The "domination technique" was just her murderous intent- Hejinmal thought. The anime shows it as her breath ability to induce fear. I dont believe she actually used an ability to dominate him, as that would replace one of her tamed beasts

Its actually about 50/50 on whether anime has 12 or 13 episodes in a season. Answering questions 5:10 It’s a clan of Frost dragons. As we find out later there are just under 2 dozen in total 7:20 Yes, and no, He doesn’t want to fight, but his quick wits saved both himself and the majority of the other dragons 11:10 The Dragons are lucky they sent the atypical dragon who recognized the strength they were facing, felt fear, and submitted immediately. If they had approached it with the pride of the dragon from the get-go they all would have been wiped out. 14:40 Both. Ainz is definitely “just that strong”, but these dragons are also weak as dragons go they are AT BEST around level 40 and had no resistance to Ainz’s instant death magic. 15:20 His dad was in fact kinda a douche. Hejinmal liked books and staying in his room reading all day. His dad very much disapproved thinking of him as a lazy weakling, which is part of why he sent him out as an appropriate challenge for the dwarven “lesser life forms” and to get his son to actually do something and if he died it would have been a lesser loss in his dad's mind 16:25 World Item was used here to trap the Qualgoa, pity we got no real explanation in the anime as it's pretty cool 18:35 Aura was right about everything except.. Ainz really is that clueless and had no idea. 21:00 Ummmmmmmmm! Well about that! 24:35 this fearlessness is in part due to an ability used by the leader Qualgoa. But the thing is that once the initial “immediate surrender” offer was refused because they didn’t know whether the mysterious newcomers or the dragons were stronger(and betraying the dragons meant death), Shaltear and Aura would refuse any surrender offers that did not involve reducing their numbers. This has nothing to do with Ainz’s actual thoughts, just Aura and Shaltears inflexible interpretation of Ainz’s instructions. 33:50 Yes 2 books are skipped in the timeline now and those 2 books will be covered by the movie

Not only is Ainz completely out of their league, Frost dragons in particular struggle with undead spellcasters, as they can be immune to cold, and often cast magic which is strong against ice monsters. Plus, level 40 is actually quite powerful in the reckoning of the New World. It's only in Nazurick where level 40 Death Knights are a dime a dozen.

What hapenned to the quagoa was actually quite tragic. The clan lord would have had no issue with subjugation as long as they had a show of strength from the sorcerer kingdom. He was trying to explain this to shalltear and she only assumed that they should just submit without question. This put the clan Lord in a difficult position coz he didn't know what to do. So when they told him that they were to kill almost all of them, he had no choice but to send them out to battle. He had a skill, the scream, that basically removes their fear and forces them to charge to battle. So that's what he used to send all of them to shalltear in spite of them being cut down. So he was basically using his skill to cut down their numbers coz he didn't have a choice

Hejimal was well read so when Ains started to cast grasp heart he knew that would kill him instantly, so he surrendered right away. Also yes Anis is just that strong dragons aren't weak.

As a dragon, Olasird'arc Haylilyal was a level 46 Dragon Lord. According to his son Hejinmal, his father could cast three level 3 spells, one of which was a flame resistance spell to compensate for his racial weakness . against fire. A variant of the ancient frost dragons also existed in YGGDRASIL, specifically Jötunheim

I'm a Japanese person who read the original work. The reason why Quagoa and his friends recklessly attack Shalltear is due to the influence of Clan Road's skills. When clan road shouts, his men become fearless berserkers.

24:00 Quogua The leader of the Quogua is a Quogua Lord and they have the ability to remove fear and hype up their members of the race. After he realised that didn't stand a chance, he thought it would be best they at least die as warriors, so he kept using his ability of them. It is pretty brutal in the light novels as we get his perspective.

My favourite Episode of this Season. When i heard, that Ainz will encounter Dragons, i thought, that would be tough. But when i saw Hejinmal, i couldn't hold back my laughter. A fat Dragon with Glasses was not was i expected^^

Remider that the upcoming Holy Kingdom Arc movie happens between this episode and the next. You may like you missed or forgot something. (Luke mentioned it too, I should finish watching before my wall of texts) 23:53 If I remember correctly, clan lord actually was not againts submitting. However even if he wanted to his subordinates would go "its 2v60k why do we surrender" and not obey him so he wanted to stay in power and scheme to grow in power and strike back. Seeing how strong Shalltear was made him quit any schemes however and he purposefully sent his elites to get slaughtered so his people would see they have no other way of surviving other than complete submission. To draw a parallel since Luke is also watching Hunter x Hunter and this occurred to me the other day, Nazerick kind of reminds me of the Phantom Troupe: very loyal to each other, but absolute monsters to almost anyone else. I couldn't quite see Ainz torturing and murdering the Kurta clan purely because their eyes are pretty though. Could he do it with a strong enough reason, sure, but not just for shits and giggles. He's just principled enough not to murder and torture innocent people just for fun. Why he wouldn't even let Solution have innocent people to play with, which is one of the only times...or actually the only time I can think of that he's deliberately denied a member of Nazerick something they wanted that was in his power to give.

THe World Item that Aura used is called Depiction of Nature and Society. It creates an enclosed battlefield with a single, random exit. Finding this exit ends the effect and awards the one who found the exit the item. That's how the Ainz Ooal Gown Guild got it. The guild they won it from begged for it back, but AOG basically said, "LOL, get rekt"

You gotta understand Hejinmal position man, he literally just analysing and take a conclusion in a few seconds and it's saved his life. 😂 Start from analysing the dwarf is not actually alone, but also there's Dark Elf, another race and their natural enemy Elder Lich but with expensive rob, like "what the hell?", he was really in a big disadvantaged. And when he was capable sensing the dangerous of Grasp Heart, he was doing his best to survive.

Don't worry about how cool these dragons are as they are very very weak and pale in comparison when it comes to the strongest dragons out there. There are plenty of dragons, in this case Dragon Lords, that are capable of fighting Ainz and the Floor Guardians on equal grounds. Hell, there has been a dragon called Deep Darkness Dragon Lord which has killed a player in the past and possessed their World Item. The said dragon can fight and beat most of the Floor Guardians. Also, you should read the side story of Overlord in which Ainz fights a very powerful Dragon Lord himself, it was pretty cool. BTW all of what I've said won't appear in the anime so it isn't really a spoiler.

15:18 here is the thing though, Ainz just insta killed the strongest dragon there, sure the dad was kinda of a douche but even if you wanted to have some loyalty or whatever you know you will also just insta die the moment you try something - as we can see on 25:19 21:24 here we see the extremist and inflexible nature of the NPCs that aren't the super smart ones. Ainz order to subjugate the Quagoas and if they refuse then use brute force to reduce their numbers into submission. So they go ahead and "Surrender now or else". Riyuro is even asking for a reason to submit since he has no idea who they are or how strong they are. And as Riyuro says he have 60k to explain things if they were to suddenly submit to these new people, he needs good reasons as well to explain to his people. If these two are weaker then the dragons and they just submit to them if the dragons beat these new people the Quagoas would all go down next right after it. Maybe a confirmation that the dragons are being subjugated right now could help to force them to submit or even a show of power to prove they are stronger than the dragons but nope. The orders was to ask them to submit or use force and so the NPCs give them a chance to submit or not without much information for the Quagoas. Shalltear even says "you are only allowed to say whether you will or will not submit". When they mention to cut them down to numbers he even asks them to wait 21:42 since he is still trying and asking for info to try to negotiate but they are like "so decide already do you submit or not?". We even see Riyuro frustration in 23:34 like "give me something, show how strong you are or give me a good reason, I would totally have submitted, you didn't have to slaughter my people".

Although how much of that was book smarts and how much is natural cowardice is tough to say I guess.

Out of all the New World inhabitants, there's been less than 10 that we've met so far that are stronger than Olasird'arc.

Aura uses a world item. The scroll thing that produces the purple fog is a world item that traps the target inside a domain of the user's choosing. The target can not escape the trap except by one hidden path. However, if the target ever does escape, they gain ownership of the world item. The domain inside the world item can be many different environments from a normal open field to a raging volcano or a frozen wasteland. Aura didn't need the terrain damage effect because shalltear was there, but she could have killed them all by simply dropping them into a volcano.

I mean, if you're trying to "forcefully dominate" someone, would you bother wasting your time giving them a gentle and lengthy argument to explain about why should they submit without question or reason to you? He gave them a chance, though: he asked first if they were willing to submit "with no price to be paid", and for a reason as good as any, they refused. And now they paid the price. So yeah, the question wasn't "are you willing to submit?", but "You will submit to me immediately, therefore settling things without any bloodshed. Is that acceptable?" They said no. They literally "paid to see".

These dragons are a bit decadent compared to the really strong dragons, like the Platinum Dragon Lord that you've seen in earlier seasons. I actually think Hejimal was the best dragon to send. If they had sent someone more belligerant, Ainz might have ended up turning all the frost dragons into corpses.

I think it was more that the dragons were smart enough to know they would face total extinction if they resisted further. Just like the kid was scared into wetting himself, but clever enough to lie about the reason in a believable way. Sprinkle in the usual Ainz misunderstanding things, and there you go... Ainz is ruling over a nest of dragons.

shalltear and aura took ainz words to heart, that is why they suck at negotiating. its either you 100% submit at the begining OR we reduce your number to such. there is no negotiation. usually you would ask to surrender when 1000 individuals are killed but yeah my girl became a meme blender (iirc ainz have little use for mineral eating quagoa who do not trade)

A fun subplot with the dwarves that was cut from the anime (it's not spoiler, you've already passed that moment). During the first meeting with the dwarf council, Ainz gave them a "low level" metal ingot to see if their artisans could make some decent item out of it. The master blacksmith wasn't even able to melt it, or even heat it in his forge.

And there are 10 levels in total, excluding special spells. There is also the issue of resistance and vulnerability. In other words, in theory, this spell should kill almost any living creature.

1:57. Yes that some part got cut out on the anime. After he offering his food to the other Quagoa, he said pretty much like this "You are not lying aren't you?. You can say that so i will die for fighting those Golem", so meaning he is cautios enough to doubting his subordinate, and smart actually. Not trusting your subordinate just because they praise you. Sadly this episode is have the most cut out from the original LN. You will see some weird scene that there must be have more deep dialogue on it.

So the thing to keep in mind about dragons Luke, is that they are very strong against things they can counter. So say for example you have a human army of knights, with the usual lances axes and swords, a single dragon could roll the entire army since all it has to do is fly above them and use it's breath attack over and over. They are also very strong against creatures that do physical attacks if they can even reach the dragon due to their overlapping scale pattern which both protects the body and diverts blows at an angle, mitigating a portion of the power of the stroke. Then you have Ainz an undead lich. So since they are frost dragons and he's a bone boy, cold breath attacks aren't going to do much. And as he demonstrated it doesn't matter how tough your scales are if somebody can get to your squishy organs without having to go through them. Now normally smart dragons who have been around long enough will acquire treasures to protect them or counter bs like what Ainz just did, but as shown the dragon didn't even know what a lich was, so intelligent preparation went a bit by the wayside.

Luke, I meant to say this earlier (but forgot), but you really should look up japanese titles that people use when talking to each other. Because Lord Ains, while it might seem correct in the context, is not actually what they are calling him. If they did, it would be Ains-dono. The title they are using is Ains-sama. Adding sama to someone's name is a stong expression of respect. It's what Brian and Climb called Sebas to demonstrate that he was "above them" so to speak, and Sebas calling them sama in return is an even stronger display of respect and recognition because of that. Other titles you'll hear a lot is san (which is basically the equivalent of calling someone "mister" or "miss"), kun (which is a term often spoken to classmates or work collegues, specifically male ones), chan (which is the feminine version of kun and can also be used when talking to children), and senpai (which means "senior") and it's opposite kouhai (junior). Knowing these and the various versions of their use will make you understand the conversation dynamics in anime much better, as there are several situational ways to use each of them that mean different things. Also worth noting is that when someone tells someone else to adress them by first name without a title, it's a sign of friendship. You'll also hear onii-chan and onee-chan often, which means big brother and big sister respectively.

technically these are D&D dragons, that is to say they are like humans but more selfish, more inteligent and very very old. Their love for gold could be considered an addiciton to the point of sickness. What is more amusing is that in the end all these dragons will be used as the aerial transport system of the Sorcerer Kingdom, far surpassing any existing one. Also, may you have a splendid day, and this video is good. Additionally, as to why he did not show the strength to the Quagoa, it's so that they are forced to react and to be killed partly, but this being done "after a fair warning", giving himself a reason to diminish their population, and also leaving corpses behind so that the dwarf nation is not aware the Quagoas will be taken to the Sorcerer Kingdom

So fun fact there is more to the opening scene between the two quagoa actually when the leader offered the other guy some of his food it was a loyalty test to see if the other guy thought he deserved to eat what the leader ate and therefore the leader’s position. Also dragons in this world don’t have strong family bonds in fact before the dad sent heijinmal to scope out Ainz the dad basically told him that after he got back he was being kicked out. Even heijinmal saving the wives was only so they would owe him in the future.

Ainz master planner who sees 10000 years in the future finally made a mistake, he didn’t think that Aura and Shalltear would find out that he deliberately let them think he was wrong 😂 Chubby smart dragon pissing like a happy dog after not seeing you for a while 🤣 Did they stole the hole treasure? Hejinmal the dragon was not very well liked by his family for being a shut in and being weak. It was stated that even his younger siblings could beat him easily. Also if i remember correctly his father was planing on kicking him out so not much love or loyalty there. He agreed on lying about the 3 mothers thing cause that way they would owe him big time! An interesting detail is that Ains considered reviving the dragon after harvesting the materials to harvest them again (like Demiurge does), but then it was revealed that people can chose to resist resurrection. The one Ains saw in the flashback was one of the only 2 female members in the guild and creator of Yuri Alpha. Since you can see tje difference between those who accepts Ains mercy amd those who dont then you understand perfectly the principle of the carrot and the stick! Oh and Aura used a world item to capture the quagoa. Funny story: that item can create different terrains and capture the enemy in them, the danger relies in this: if the enemy captured is able to scape they are awarded ownership of that world item and thas is how it came to be in Nazaric's possesion. It is said that the guild kept contacting Ains oal gown begging to have it back. The item is called depiction of nature and society.

Gotta give Hejinmal credit for being one of the precious few creatures in the New World to immediately recognize Ainz is beyond the norms and submit to him. Plus his actions ended up saving more of his family than likely would have survived otherwise. As to the weakness of these dragons, even the patriarch was far from being one of the dragon lords, and white dragons in D&D (where Overlord took a lot of inspiration) are typically the weakest of the chromatic dragons.

15:03 The LN had this scene a bit differently, since after all the mothers gathered the sons, 3-4 of them attacked Ains, whereafter he killed those that attacked him, ending in them being very submissive and scared of their new ruler. Aura also got the dragons to manage!
