I'm pure old-school. I use the back of my thumb to remove the excess paint. Best texture pallette ever

I tried making a texture palette after watching your video but after painting it black my roommate convinced me to keep it that way as she thought it looked like it was a work of art in its own right. I'll try again, but this time I won't show it to anyone.

Great idea I'm going to make a stl file for a drybrush pallet using combined models and textures. That way when it gets all gunked up I can just print another one complete with bits and textures.

There is an interveiw on the sidetracked podcast with a pro painter who was saying this is not a good idea as the texture bits will clog up with dust and make your drybrush worse

It's crazy how many techniques I've picked up from videos like this, I learn the best way to do everything and still do it the old way and then I'm unhappy with the result.

Dude, this is simply brilliant! I was wracking my brain on how to do this without buying that expensive Artis Opus texture palette. I mean, I love that thing, but it gets real gross after a while and I just can't stomach buying more of these at their price point.

This seems clunky, buts it’s actually pretty good idea and reduces risk and reworking your models after not liking the dry brush and contrast paint by applying it to a dummy product of sorts beforehand. Solid advice lady 👍🏽

I wonder if I can repurpose my resin print supports like this. It won't have a lot of variation in texture, but I haven't printed anything yet and I want to have a plan to reduce the waste.

I was asking my boyfriend for any tricks on how to practice dry brushing. He told me to find some really textured rocks 🪨 he's very clever, I wouldn't have thought of that idea.

I'm not sure why but I don't get on with a texture pallet too well... Without the tissue the Pro Acryl paints feel like they have too much medium to go smudgy for me.

I just glued a sprue to a piece of cardboard and hit it with some primer it’s not as good looking as yours but it works 😂

I still dont understand how it works. there's either too much moisture and Im just sloppily painting the surface, or there's not enough moisture and Im just sploching gobs of unthinned paint all over the model

The tip: - Don't use paper towel (like 90% of people do) - Create a dedicated tray as your 'test spare model' I don't know why you feel the need to pretend that this isn't very useful to very many people

Have an old motherboard? Broken laptop? Rip the motherboard out of that laptop, glue it on to cleaned lid of that laptop and paint black. Instant dry pallet without any fuzz.

What do you do after it's covered in drybrushrd paints ? Do you clean it, reprime it, start over ?

You can if you want to! I usually test paint on my hand and then only repaint the palette if I want to test contrast/etc. Colors.

Dont do this!!! The painted plastic is porous and will absorb paint ans effectively change pigment and consistency of future drybrushes as well as wearing out brushes too

This is such a gimmick, as an influencer you should know better Lyla 😢 if you want to have better smooth coverage you need a wet sponge and your skin to wipe off excess paint 🎨

You could also just not dry brush. If you are doing slap chop even just buy a cheap airbrush and do a zenithal highlight. It's really not hard and saves even more time. You dont need the best airbrush or alot of skill to do it.

Waste of bits. Just use the edge of your base. Also, having a slightly damp brush helps remove the chalkiness often associated with the GW dry brush method.

Waste of bits is only true when you are just starting out. If you have been collecting for a while you will have a pile of bits you will never ever use again. OR just glue some sprue parts to the tray and use some texture paint / glue sand to it.

@@mrheisenberg83 if you are overwhelmed by bits, group them in categories and sell them. There is a huge market for that sort of thing. The price of those kits is already insane. Recoup some cost if you can.
