Just like the 1939 the war was on and 6233 hauled 21 coaches from London Euston to Glasgow and Perth in Scotland she was Built in 1938 at crew works and really took shap in her stride

@@RailView_YT It really is. It's not even a mile walk from here, and through a little bit of nice countryside, fields and woods and stuff. They have also a narrow gauge track for the kids, that goes down to a canal that gathers in a bit of a pond where they can regularly see kingfishers and even badger sets right near the tracks. My friend saw this loco last year, and he said she still had her green colour then. This here was right after a fresh coat of what I am told was something called "crimson lake" or something like that. Absolutely stunning to see. We actually walked by while they were taking a bunch of close-up pictures of her. Might even have been the same day as this, or at least was within a week of it.

One of the trustees has told us she won’t be doing any mainline testing and that she’s going straight to SVR after light Engine test runs at MRC

Brunswick even

6233 was never painted apple green.That was the LNER Livery.The green applied was Brunswick Green in December 1952 after running in LMS Black from September 1946.She was never painted BR Blue.She ran in her Crimson lake livery throughout the war.

nope. Duchess of Sutherland was BR Blue for a period. She was red until 1947-leaving crewe painted black on28th oct 1947. stayed black until 1950-outshopped in br(Caledonian)blue on 19th May 1950. this lasted until 1952-29th Nov when outshopped in BR Brunswick green. from pages 199-200 '6233 Duchess of Sutherland, and the Princess Coronation Class' by Brell Ewart (who was/is chairman of the loco's owning group) and Brian Radford.

The reason why they’re open is because they need to be open to let condensation be released from the cylinders, otherwise it could cause considerable damage to the cylinders :)

Duchess of Sutherland was never streamlined, but one of her sister Locos 6229 Duchess of Hamilton is streamlined & her other sister Loco (46235 City of Birmingham) was streamlined but isn't streamlined now :)

I’m glad this loco was never streamlined .Streamlined engine looked like a goldfish and more work for maintenance crews. Engines who look like engines are beautiful . The Duchess is gorgeous.

No..In LMS days she classified as 7P.Under British Railways she was re-classified as 8P.When she was painted Brunswick Green she would have had 8P on the cab sides.But she looks Magnificent in her original livery of Midland Lake with Gold and Vermillion lining.

She was classified 7P in LMS days and was reclassified 8P in BR days :)

In LMS Days they classified Duchesses as 7Ps and when they went under BR ownership they were reclassified as 8Ps :)

71000 Duke of Gloucester is an 8P Loco :)

Having seen inside the Carnforth Workshops I can't see why they're getting MORE to work on. Tangmere, Guardsman, 44932 all in pieces. Princess Liz in one piece but I think needing quite a lot done, Bodmin in the Boss' shed looking like she's at the back of the queue. Not forgetting that the 8F goes out of ticket this year.
