Wow, I just wanted to say you did a great job with this animatic! The duck animation was so smooth, and the feather, and all the alcohol -- you're great at using visual metaphors to convey the meaning that's being expressed in the music -- letting the objects tell the story. Most especially, this animatic really highlighted Pierre's misery for me. Poor Pierre. Also I really liked how expressive you made Anatole. He has lots of little expressions, especially at the part of the duel, which kind of gives us insight into his character so we see he's not just a big puppy killer! He DOES have some sort of sense of concern for his friends, however primitive and underdeveloped it may be, lol. Anyways, thanks, and kudos to you for creating this!

@mr_oreoman3 жыл бұрын
I know I'm 6 months late, but if you're still interested, the musical is called Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812 and it's based off of a section from the novel War And Peace. It is absolutely phenomenal, and I would highly recommend it if you're into Hamilton/anything set around those times, really

BRUUUHHHHHH this is like my favorite song in the show tbh,, Dolokhov's "missed, missed... oh my mother, my angel, my adored angel mother.." when he's just kind of realized everything that happened always gets me- dude i love helene in your style too
@orchidsarepretty14223 жыл бұрын
He was caught up in the rush of things right? He says that cause he feels bad?
@thenumbertwo91363 жыл бұрын
@@orchidsarepretty1422 there are TONS of interpretations of that line and Dolokhov in general considering he's a pretty minor and very hard to read character, but the 'he just realized he almost shot pierre and feels bad' is my personal favorite way to look at it
@dumupad3-da24111 ай бұрын
@@orchidsarepretty1422 In the novel, Dolokhov's line 'oh my mother, my angel, my adored angel mother' doesn't come immediately after 'missed' and it's not a comment on his attempt to kill Pierre or on his failure to do so, it's that Dolokhov thinks he himself will die of his wound and he is worried that his mother won't be able to handle his death. It turns out that he's a loving son. The musical condenses things a bit and that makes the line harder to interpret here. While Dolokhov is shown to have some redeeming qualities in this way, it doesn't seem that he was 'caught up in the rush of things' or that he particularly regrets that he could have killed Pierre - the text makes it clear that Dolokhov isn't that kind-hearted, he's a bit of a bully, killing isn't such a big deal to him and he often challenges people to duels over trifles. At most, he could have said later, with slight regret, 'the world was wide enough for both Pierre and me', which, when you think of it, isn't all that repentant and emotional a statement either.
@dumupad3-da24111 ай бұрын
@@thenumbertwo9136 I've addressed what you said in the reply to orchidsarepretty1422. When you check the text of that chapter in the novel, it becomes quite clear how Dolokhov's line is supposed to be interpreted.
