Barbie was so funny, she was hands down one of my favorites. I loved how calm she was while Tiffany, Robyn, and Kimmie tried to act all tough and just make themselves look stupid. Dana nominating her because she makes facial expressions, like what does that have to do with cooking? NOTHING.

I recently rewatched season 10 and it was hard not seeing all the vitriolic hate towards Barbie as “a little bit racist”. She didn’t even fucking do anything. Like literally the only moment when I was like “okay Barbies being an ass” is when she was stomping around the dorms being petty trying to wake people up. But is that enough to justify Kimmi and Tiffany threatening her with violence every service? Fuck no.

I think Rochelle's second nomination reason is also a slap to sous chef Andi since she wanted the same thing.

Sweet and supportive Rochelle, in my opinion, was the best cook of season 12. She felt stronger than Jason and Melanie and I think that she was at least on par with Scott.

Rochelle being nominated for wanting to start a family smacks of internalized misogyny from the women... this isn't the 50s anymore. True, being a chef is grueling and isolating (in a manner of speaking) work. Wanting to get married and start a family isn't a moral failing or a character flaw; the idea of her being unworthy of the competition grates more and more as time goes on. Do better, Red Team.

I feel like the nominations of Nikki and Julia were more out of jealousy than anything as their teammates were afraid that the "inexperienced" person was cooking better than they were.

I felt bad for Aaron. I feel like he was an underdog and could have made it pretty far in his season if Gordon saw through the blue teams lies and recognized how manipulative and shitty the rest of them were. Same goes for Pat being eliminated over Matt in the opening night. Honestly so many of the guys from that season are some of my most hated contestants ever, especially Johnny and Matt

Rochelle really proved both Joyce and Kaisha wrong that very next episode, winning the challenge for the Blue Team. It was extremely satisfying to see them lose to her after making such a stupid decision to send her up. I am so happy she made it as far as she did, outlasting both of them.

All you gotta do is look at Joy’s behaviour in that Rochelle nomination as clear evidence that she lacked the maturity and was never going to win Season 12. She came up with the absurd suggestion to nominate Rochelle and then she wanted to lie to Chef Ramsey about why they nominated her because she knew their justification was bullshit. It’s things like this and her constant meltdowns that make it very obvious she was never a legitimate contender to win regardless of whether she quit or not. She and Kashia were horrible.

The greatest feeling of karma came when Rochelle went to the blue team after the red team nominated her for no reason and then Rochelle was the reason the blue team won the challenge right after that this is why I don't like Kashia and Joy

I always felt really, really bad for Barbie. I genuinely can't think of a VIABLE reason for any of those three girls to dislike her. They we're rude to her from the start and used her responding to that nasty energy as a reason to hate her. I usually don't get too invested in reality TV, but watching that season is almost impossible because I just wanna give her a hug.

In Season 9 Jennifer being nominated and eliminated for not fighting back hard enough (she was yelling at her fellow contestants who betrayed her so she was fighting back) which was ridiculous considering Elise made 17 mistakes that service and Will and Paul both saying Elise is stronger than Jennifer. While I know producers make many decisions off camera, I still can't believe Gordon actually eliminated Jennifer over Elise.

6:00 one major example I can think of is Robyn randomly being nominated during the Final 10 on All-Stars over Van. The woman straight-up did nothing wrong in service, yet the Blue Team nominated her for her tendency to get frazzled (again, not during that particular service). Yet this was clearly done to save Van, something Ramsay noticed, as he almost immediately voided her nomination when it was her time to plea. And what's weird is, as this was Van's elimination episode, many have said that Robyn should've gotten the boot that night. Again, what did she do during that service that would've warranted her going?

Let's be honest, guys. Andy from Season 6 is the dumbest contestant ever to enter Hell's Kitchen. -The time where he put Apple Compote on Calorie challenge on Desserts and the result is so bad it made Chef Ramsay laughed for a second. Yeah, normal for you but you want to present it to #1 Chef in the world! It even made Dave who showed it looked embarrased. -He suggested to nominate Robert who was hospitalized at the time because of that dangerous bike challenge to save himself and he forgot Jim who's always look like he's in his own world was there. Good thing Chef Ramsay didn't buy Van's reason and Van chose Andy instead and he eliminated Jim later. -He should've been gone over Robert at the time because Robert was right, he basically not doing anything at that night and made Robert has to snap in front of the customers. -As soon as the Blue Team was only him, Dave, Kevin and Van. He becomes the real weakling point of the team. He was even so useless, Chef Ramsay caught him doing nothing and kicked him out. -He complained about his broken thumb and couldn't do his job while Dave who suffered broken arms for weeks never complained about it. Let's not forget how he asked Dave to help him on his station because of his "broken thumb". Yeah, let's ask someone who has a broken arm and suffer his pains for weeks to help you.

Corey from season 4, god, what a bad execution from the second episode, she put up Jen over Sharon. Those are issues Chef Ramsay can't ignore and he sent Sharon home right there and out

So far Nikki is my favorite non black jacket chef, just for how well she bounced back after a train wreck opening night, so I thought it was hilarious when she was put up for elimination on week 2, and Sy even admitted she didn’t deserve to be on the block. Also might I add, Royce I feel like is a chef that gets overlooked due to others being worse than him, that being the problematic chefs in the red kitchen. Seriously, Royce should’ve been eliminated way sooner than he actually was, but he continuously slipped through the cracks, and was easily the worst chef on the blue team.

Sterling being nominated by the Blue Team mistaking his positive attitude and jovial demeanor as him not being serious. No one goes to HK to play around (Raj withstanding). Just because Steeling wasn't uptight and handled stress differently, the Blue Team had a problem. It was great to see those who targeted him get eliminated before him. Steve unfortunately got injured and went home. His hostility and aggression at Sterling was why I believe karma came and got Steve!

Honestly the targeting of Barbie reeked of racism. Everyone wants to bring up her *one* kinda obnoxious moment of stomping around while washing dishes, but even before that, it was clear that certain members of the red team already had it out for her. Sure, she had some bad early services, but so do a lot of contestants throughout HK, & they don’t receive the level of hatred & bullying that Barbie got. Then the bullshit explanations of her being considered for nomination in later services (i.e. “making faces” or “it’s not what you say but how you say it”), even though she performed well, really sealed the deal for me. Classic racist microaggressions, imo. Especially when you consider how some extremely obnoxious and overtly combative members of the S10 red team were never ostracized the way Barbie was. Because of this I’ll never be able to stand Tiffany, Robyn, Kimmie, and yes, Dana too (who often flies under the radar but comes across as *incredibly* catty). And I can’t blame Barbie for acting how she did in S17. If I had been treated so disgustingly as she was in her original season, I’d absolutely be hyper-vigilant coming back into that competition.

After that crap they tried to pull onto Rochelle simply because she WANTED a family and twisted her words, saying that was her "main goal." I lost ALL respect for Joy in that moment along with how cold she acted towards Jessica getting kicked out. Yet, I still hear assumptions as to how "Oh, if Joy hadn't lost her cool on a fish, she would have won that season!" Personally, I don't think she would have BECAUSE of that exact reason. In the first episode, when the season started, she cracked under pressure, and she already had a bad habit of losing her cool when things would go wrong a lot of the time. Plus, she was dealing with the loss of a loved one at the time, which also derailed her chances. Maybe if she came into the competition when she wasn't going through such a tragic event, I do believe she would have won. There was no need for her to not only use such an underhanded tactic and for everyone to lie about Rochelle for such an audacious and asinine lie to get her out of the competition, but thinking Gordon would be stupid enough to agree with that BS. I understand that it's a competition, but that really does speak volumes about your character if you're willing to do such a thing, again, for a really STUPID reason that was in no way impeding on the competition. And, jokes on them, Rochelle proved to be an absolute unit and outlasted those naysayers.

The producers clearly decide who goes (based on the amount of chefs who survive a nomination purely because of their potential for further conflict).

Honestly, this is a perfect encapsulation of why I've never really gotten into Hell's Kitchen; it doesn't know if it wants to be a cooking competition or a reality competition. If you want a cooking show, why even let the teams nominate people? Just have Ramsay unilaterally eject whomever he chooses every single time. If you want it to be a reality show, people given the power to nominate SHOULD be able to nominate anybody for any reason they choose. It's also always rubbed me the wrong way when Ramsay gives the power of nomination to individuals and then chooses to eject somebody who wasn't even nominated. It's like it tries to be Big Brother and MasterChef (yes, I know HK came first) at the same time and as such doesn't really manage to be either. Maybe that's just what happens when the prize is an actual for real job once they're out. (Tho don't get me wrong, I love Ramsay yelling at them just as much as the next person does.)

What about Michelle being nominated at F5 of HK14? She only made one mistake in that entire service, while Milly made several. But Meghan and T didn't want to nominate Milly, because he was a "rock star." Ramsay had to do it instead, and he excoriated them for basically being cliquish.

To nominate someone simply because of their lack of experience regardless of their performance on the show should be called out as cheating. They should be nominated for something they did wrong there, amount of experience is not something they can control.

This is why Curtis’ elimination will be satisfying to me. Dude took the coward’s way out and it failed. As for S16 Aaron, he actually performed worse than Johnny. Although Aaron made no mistakes in his last service, he didn’t do anything of note that night. Johnny on the other hand, despite making mistakes, bounced back, getting more fish accepted than rejected. If anyone deserved to go that night, it would be Devin because he was worse than Johnny overall and performed worse than both Johnny and Aaron that night.
