I just received what I can only assume is an updated print of this deck because my minor arcana is labeled! It's a beautiful deck and makes it much easier to read, I would have been disappointed had it not been. So for anyone who skipped out on this deck over that issue, maybe try checking it out again and see if you can get the newer print?

The minor arcana is wands =strength, swords=intellect, cups=wisdom and pentacles=charisma...or thats what made sense in the book to me. Going how they ordered the suits and the qualities, the annoying bit is them not being labeled so you have to memorize the photos or always use the guide book..

Was waiting on your review on this deck! As a D&D player and tarot nut, I was interested in this deck. However, the guide book and labeling of the Minor Arcana makes me less interested. Still a beautiful deck!

I am happy to tell you that the knight from the last suit is a Modron! I have to agree with the critique - not adding the suits more clearly to the cards makes it extremely hard to differentiate. I'm still looking if the characters/classes match up in the suits and see if it's supposed to make sense like that.

I LOVE the artwork. The texture is lovely as well. I echo the sentiments of many other commentors: The lack of labelling the minor arcana and not much depth to the guidebook makes it difficult. It felt like the bare minimum with the guidebook. I would hazard a guess it's designed to be understood by D and D fans, but it's a shame they couldn't have added a bit more info to make it accessible to a larger pool of potential customers. It would have been a great opportunity to draw us in to learn about the world. The artwork alone made me sorely tempted but it doesn't feel very useable in the way it was meant to be.

Have been having this on my wishlist for 2 months - love the artwork! I agree that the lack of labeling on the minors is a put off - gotta spend time meditating on them. For this, I don't think it's for beginners or those who strictly follow the RWS. I think it's more for those into myths and lores or those who want to do more intuitive readings without being limited to traditional Tarot meanings. For some reasons, this deck speaks to me. 😍 Thanks for the review!

Loved this video, once I found out about the new printing with labels I bought the deck and love it. I’m just learning Tarot so I definitely have to refer to my other book as reference.

When I saw the Amazon listing ages ago I couldn’t wait to see a review. I wanted this deck to be good. The art is stunning, but they dropped the ball with labeling the minor arcana with the suits. One way I center myself with a deck is re-ordering the cards before a reading, and that’s be near impossible for me with this deck. Still a gorgeous deck, but one I sadly won’t be picking up cause there’s no card symbolism on the card itself for the suit and the book is lackluster.

This deck is based on Forgotten Realms Lore so if you know your Forgotten Realms you will see the stories and who is who in this deck. I saw a Diety of Gond, the three greatest Wizards of the Realm. Thus is more Oracle than Tarot on the surface level but if you know your Lore in this deck is based on it makes sense but this deck is not for your average reader, it's more for the D&D buffs out there.

@@acamon yes but he is also knows how to planes travel so his spells are known in some pass Lore on how he is known in other Realms.

I ordered this and waiting to get it. Thanks for showing us the artwork. It was too much interesting imagery to pass up. I plan to write the name of the set at the bottom in a gold pen to make it much more easily usable.

This is such amazing artwork... I also agree with your complaints... Wondering if some kind of colored border on the bottom would be helpful AND aesthetically pleasing 😅 Plus I find it a bit sad that there seems to be no other information on the characters depicted... Great review as always!!

In the defense of the unmarked minors, I have to say that if you are well versed in using clasic RWS decks and their meanings, it is possible to identify symbols in this deck's imagery that actually correspond with those classic meanings. I went through the book and each card a couple of times, connecting with them, studying them closely. After 1h or so I was able to correctly identify each card to its correct suite, because I took time to make sense out of every card, in my own way. There are a couple of them who don't quite really match, for my taste (for example 10 of Swords/ Intelligence) but not completely off the classical card's energy either. Def not a deck for a begginer, but it is a deck you can use for tarot readings. I bought it specifically for practicing intuitive reading more so it really does the trick for me being more challenging like this. I know nothing about DnD lore and it does not even matter to me. The artwork and Tarot knowledge is all I need. I love it.

I got gifted this deck last weekend as my first tarot deck. I absolutely love the aesthetic, but since its my first deck I was hoping the guidebook would have more information about each card. Still super excited to use it though.

So I ended up buying the deck despite seeing this review and knowing the suits are not marked, and honestly it doesn't bother me nearly as much as I thought it would. (Although I think given as I intend to gild the edges gold as is, I might just use the pen and draw a small symbol of the suit on the cards for additional aid.) I feel like this actually leads me to interpret further into the art of the individual cards and not rely so much on preconceived notions of what the cards mean. The guidebook itself is not much use, but that's the case with a lot of decks I own, so I'm used to it. It also inspired me to do some less traditional methods of reading. One thing I did for example was grab my DnD dice and roll for a card instead of shuffling the way I regularly do.

My boyfriend is also a huge Magic the Gathering player! I used to play it regularly, now I have ‘just’ 5 commander decks. I also played DnD, I was female Dwarf Cleric Lovin Rockseeker, and I had an awesome Lightning axe and a ring of the Ram :D

Yeah, a bit strange that they don't demarcate the suits. If they've updated the printing to include symbols I wonder if there's a way to differentiate the printings. I love the art. Thanks for the flip through! Happy to see they included the Lady of Pain ( 12:31 ) and a Modron ( 16:12 ) (Machine-like creatures from the Plane of Law) from the Planescape setting

Omg thanks for the review! I always get a cue when a deck is meant to be. Don't know why but the strength card is the one that always speaks to me and this one did, I felt a little something inside and I just knew. Such a bummer that the minor doesn't come with the suits symbols but I guess I'll have to go on and trust my intuition. Love your videos 💞

Such an interesting deck. I've never played D and D, but some of my friends do and are also into Tarot. I've shared this video with them. Have you seen Lisa Papez's video on her and her wife Peggy's new game of Role-playing the Tarot? I wonder if this might be a fun deck to use for playing that. It seems like a much simpler form of D and D. Peggy's created the game and they've shared the rules on Lisa's website. They've also done a live play through of the game in a video too!

I did it once..was in constant confusion...I think my control issues make it impossible to relax and kinda see it as collab writing prompt. But this intrigues me very much w all the lore. There's a book by the Same author as spiderwick called search for wandla which I loved.itd be a great deck one card made me think of it

Interested in Tarot as a D&D player/DM and bringing it into our campaign. Was curious what the reference book is you mentioned and if there’s any others with this kind of flavor that do it better? Liked that idea of the Hit Point Press Fablemaker Tarot deck but not that cost. Hoping to find something between the two, thanks!

This deck has been updated with numbers and name of suits! However, it seems that people buying on Amazon may still be receiving the original version. I purchased my deck from a physical Barnes and Noble and it was labeled perfectly.

Rewatching your video now, as we've been playing D&D for a little while now (at kids level 😆). The deck makes more sense now and think we'll be getting it, for sure. I was with you and I did see it, but honestly... trust you to lower the tone Natasha, with your Monster's Inc. reference 🤦♀️😂❤️

The art is wonderful but the lack of depth of explanation for the art makes this a "no" for me. I couldn't help but compare this deck to the Mage: the Ascension Tarot deck which is also based on a tabletop rpg and comes with much meatier sections in the guidebook on how to use the deck to create characters and story ideas and explains the deck's relationship to the game more thoughtfully. Considering that they changed the Minor Arcana to match character attributes, they should have given each card much more explanation.

• Overthrowing the existing regime • Mastering a new craft that proves dangerous yet thrilling • Attempting to alleviate an existing feud that has turned ugly • Improving a plot of land that is “haunted” by dark and foreboding creatures • Reimaginging an existing character as a demonic figure as a result of a startling confusion • Intermingling different breeds leads to new (and curiously disfigured) species (Ideas of mine for a game of D&D)

Oh your minor arcana is different from mine? Mine does have the “ace of” etc. indicators at the bottom but yours seems to only have numbers… I wonder if your deck was unfortunately a production error?

so unfortunately for me, i purchased this deck before seeing any reviews because it happened to be in my local BAM when i went. and i was SO drawn to the artwork that i just bought it without any thought or research. i’m not a complete beginner but i’m not advanced by any means. so the complete lack of indicators is a bit problematic for me. it also is made worse given that i’m not a D&D lover/player. HOWEVER, i AM SO SMITTEN with the artwork that i want to keep it and really start trying to push more on reading intuitively. and i’m so glad you mentioned gimli, because that’s the ONLY thing i see when i look at that card. and i don’t know why, but the chariot card reminds me of jafar for the BRIEF moment that jafar is dressed as sultan in the animated movie. is that just me who sees that???

This deck, although the artwork is great, it's too confusing at least for ppl starting out with tarot. There's at least 3, maybe 4 cards that look a lot like the 3 of cups but they can't all be 3 of cups, for starters. It seems like more of an oracle deck in my view but with that being said, there's hardly much of any real card messages / meaning explanations in the guidebook either. I had this in my wishlist but I deleted it. I may change my mind down the track but at this point, it's a no from me. 👎 Thank you Natasha for this review. 🙏👿🌙🕯💞

Art is stunning. The only reason I'm not buying it is because the symbolic architecture of the deck is completely absent. Symbols and symbolic elements are always present in any drawings, and the cards themselves have a pretty evocative impact because of the beauty, the many symbolic elements and the nature of our perception, that is to be able to perceive depth and meaning quite everywhere. But I must admit that I had a little sliver of hope that the deck would really be designed with, not necessarily the traditional esoteric meaning of the tarot, but at least a semblance of narrative symbolism designed in it. Hey, I might end up buying it just because it's a real work of art and it could very well be used creatively in games!

U can see the fool card on the table with the bend lifted off- leaving the card totally unflat, so not very honest of you and not very credible of ur review(s).
