I've spent the last 4 weeks sleeping every night in my 1.0 Chameleon (Garden camping). I find it much more comfortable on my shoulders and back than a regular bed (I have a really comfortable bed supposedly). I do, however, not like the way your legs get pushed together in a gathered hammock. I think this is an inevitable feature of any gathered hammock when lying on the diagonal, as opposed to being specific to the chameleon. To overcome this I use a short lightweight air mat (NEMO Tensor 20S Short Mummy Airbed). I just use it under my legs so my bum sits on the foot end, and the head end extends just beyond my feet. This prevents me from sitting on the valve. I would say that the mat is half inflated or less. The overall effect is that it stops my legs being pushed together, makes a nice open foot box for my feet and prevents any kind of calve ridge in any position I lay in. Your feet end up being a little higher, but that works out just fine for me. I've always had trouble sleeping indoors (turnover every 20-25 mins) and particularly outdoors (zero sleep), but now I'm in deep sleep for a solid 6-7 hours without moving at all. Not a solution for everyone, but I couldn't be happier.

Chapstik on zippers. Easy to do and works like a charm.

The true benefit of having zippers on both sides is for easy underquilt adjustments. I agree, in real world use, there is almost no reason to ever have to get out of the hammock from the other side.

It's a great system. I was waiting on the top cover trying to decide what I wanted. He keeps adding more, was finally set on the symmetrical top cover and he came out with the custom print and it put me back to square one :-) I'll get one at some point.

Been using coconut fat on zippers lately but probably someone with more professional lubrication ideas but for me it's been keeping my work jackets that get washed weekly (farmer) and my fishing gear bag that I manage to pour two full cans of beer into at the same time and had to wash 👍🏼. Nice thing about coco fat is that it's pretty solid so you can push a little bit into zipper and zip up instead of spraying some kind of solution that might stain fabric

Use paraffin to lubricate zippers works like a charm. Just rub a chunk against the teeth and then work the zipper back and forth a couple of times and you’re good to go.

I ordered the Half Zipped. Only thing I can't do that the chameleon can is wear a top cover. I'm in Florida and don't see a need for it. Great review I'm stoked. Also went with the ridge line organizer over the peak loft..... For now.

Thanks for sharing guys. I have the Chameleon 1.0 in that same color. The only Dutch accessories I have are the top cover, bug net and woopie slings. I do have a lot of the dutch hardware though. I also have the ridge line organizer from HG, its great. I guess I need to get the peak loft. Common Sense Camper and I will be going out for a weekend on June 1st. I'll be making my second video for that trip. I hope you tune in. And remember, If you ain't Dutch you ain't much! Buahahahaha

I like my chameleon, but if I had to do it again, I'd buy the half zipped instead. I wanted to be able to use a top cover for colder temps. However I actually prefer the winter sock Dutch sells. It helps keep drafts from traveling past my underquilt. Plus the winter sock now has a zipper on the side, and it's not much more than the top cover. One sad note about the zipper: this past weekend my UGQ Bandit I got for Christmas got stuck in the zipper and ripped. 😣. But nothing is truly mine until it's broken someway, so a bit of tenacious tape and she's ready for another adventure

The whole point of all the accessories, and the beauty of the chameleon is you will never have to buy another hammock, everything he comes out with will fit your hammock.. So when he comes out with something new you dont have to buy another hammock. Love this hammock and Dutch did it up right

I've been running a Hennessy Hammock for about 6 years now and I'm now looking to upgrade to either the Dutch Chameleon or the Warbonnet Blackbird XLC. The Hennessy has been great all these years and has only one issue after 6 years of use, it needs to be pulled very tight between the trees where these allow for a proper hang of 30 degrees at the straps.
