I personally put them number 1. There is NO other band that last this long, without breaking up, whilst remaining this consistent artistically, staying true to the punk ethos, and giving back to the scene. At this point, i think they're unapparelled.

Been listening to them since ‘98 or ‘99 and they’ve consistently been one of my favorite bands. They have always resonated with me because they never seemed to take themselves seriously and were having a great time while making great music. I’ve really enjoyed your videos covering their history, thanks for putting them together.

I discovered nofx backwards. I loved their supposed worst album first, then discovering everything after that was amazing. What got me initially was the drumming, then the bass playing. Seeing how tight they are live is nek lev.. Why ive followed nofx for so long? I guess they never get boring, (apart from some stuff lately) First heard them age 14, 42 now. Ive read the book. Watched all backstages. I like the dynamics off stage, their the sort of dudes id relate to. Seen them twice live. Yea, good stuff mr punk historian, your passion for doing these is awesome.. I liked your bad religion two part also. Fine, esteemed work sir.

What makes me still listen to these guys? As a strait white male struggling profusely each and every day to hold my grip on any semblance of sanity... I can definitely say that it is not the current extent of the culture wars. Perhaps a healthy disdain for the recent political climate or for towing a major party line. Maybe only just a sense of nostalgia. A remembrance of what, could have been, better times.

Myself being a bit older and living in Germany, i discovered them around 89/90 with S&M Airlines and saw them first playing shows in squats and youth clubs. They immediately influenced the sound of most bands in my hometown, calling our music "Lake of Constance Bay Area Sound". Since then NOFX accompanied my life - and my songwriting, too. Sorry for my bad english.

Wait... did I miss it or did you not mention their cancellation due to their on stage comments? That seems like a pretty major part of their history, they were all over the news. Probably more people heard about NOFX due to that incident than anything else in their career. Also bummed you didn't get into the Propagandhi feud, which was an interesting moment showcasing an ideological split within punk rock of liberalism vs. leftism. Enjoyable video though!

(alone or better with Brett) is simply impossible so let´s do it different being hypothetically more friendly and opened to the guys wanting the same thing. That´s also that thing of biggest life friendship (between two men without any mark of competition) on the stage through all those years. And Also Mike´s primal family trouble. Thank him he´s on a side of joy and fun instead of anything else. So that thing is for me if you ask that they are not a genious punk musicians in sake of getting respect but a selfconscious clown putting his life on the altar of fight against capitalism. Hey I’m from Mpls/Stp too. I remember the Triple Rock well, my band got banned for underage drinking there in like 2004. Not sure if we’ve met but we probably went to a lot of the same shows. Not sure if you were in MN in 2007 but my old band The Cretins opened for Rancid and MXPX at the Myth. Also curious if you remember St Paul Punxfest in the early 2000’s? It was hosted by TCSP at Station 4. Usually headlined by The 86’d and one year they brought in The Independents to headline (a band Joey Ramone managed before he died). Not sure if any of this is ringing a bell

as a gateway band to "Real Punk" you're spot on - NOFX successfully (and perfectly) balanced the ethos of DIY Punk with the accessibility of Pop Punk. if you were a teenager in 2001 and you got into Blink singing "all the small things" on mtv - you would pick up PUTV because you thought "Clams have feelings too" was funny just like blink - but then the energy of "Stranger than fishin'" would consume you, and "Total Bummer" would speak to you in a pretty profound way. next thing you know you're wearing a fresh fruit for rotting vegetables t shirt and you've got a Milo tattoo. a single album from NOFX bridges that gap because of the diversity and scope of each record.
