ugh...another great mind, human being, artist, and innovator taken before their time... 3D FDM printing will always be part of my arsenal in making/fabricating on the journey moving away from subtractive to additive manufacturing and E3D (specifically Sanjay) has a pivotal role in that journey. Much love to Sanjay, his family, everyone in the maker community, and everyone else. Regards, Jeff (Garage Maker Guy)

I love the comments about Sanjay's hair. I have not seen for a very long time a Director in a company that could explain production process in such great detail in particular technical stuff - real pleasure to watch! I'm new and just started learning 3D printing stuff although was more interested in the production line processes as we've been bulding for the past 3.5 years a semi-automated full-tracebility manufacturing system for places like E3D and was keen to learn what else we could improve so it handles other manufacturing processes we've not yet seen. I will definitely pop into the next tradeshows to see them and talk in person when they resume.

It looks like a Keyence IM Series Instant Measurement System (IM-6125?). They get quite a bit fancier than that. We have a VR-5000 at work that can do a lot more (like surface profiling, roughness, and much more. I wish we could use it for production, but our volumes are far too high for that.

I was trying to work out if this was a weekend and they just had a few people working rather than normal production. I'm used to working with factories in China (for much higher volume production than this to be honest) and I've rarely seen such a quiet and empty production facility. When I have visited third-party manufacturing sites that look like that, alarm bells ring and I require a good explanation.

I love to imagine a V6 hot-end with a heatsink like the titan V2 with the ducting. Simple flat mount straight onto the x carriage, mount the fan to it, and ready to go. no need to leave any space behind for the 'exhaust' air coming off the heat sink. what a compact and efficient form factor!

The QC question was solid. How he answered, which I'm pretty sure was transparent and genuine, was straightforward. 100% QC on PSUs is a no-compromise process costing money many many many other companies don't do. I've never heard of a PSU from E3D failing. My manufacturing partners always shy away from answering QC questions. Not what happened here.

My E3D Thermistor did not work. So I just ordered 2 more. After taking to support and determining that indeed the Thermistor was bad They ask for my order number. A day later I received a new Thermistor without asking for one. I also found in my journey to upgrade my printer that it is very helpful to have extra parts. I know that means more money. But I went around and around as to if the Thermistor was reading the correct values. Once I got the new thermistor and tested it, confirmed replaced and done. No more guessing on values and even if I was using my Multimeter correctly etc. That goes for other Printer parts. Saves a lot of time. Also the time spent ordering the replacement part and waiting 3 days - 10 days to receive the part in order to get printing again.

@MadeWithLayers
@MadeWithLayers 5 жыл бұрын

@@MadeWithLayers Die Antwort beruhigt enorm, vielen lieben Dank.
