0:44 Thompson drops back into a shot gun!?! In "there is nothing" new category, Thompson was in what was called the Short Punt formation, which forces the defending team to guard against the Quick Kick - opening up space in the secondary. Fielding Yost ran this offense on his point a minute teams at Michigan.

i love the fake "cheering" lol Steve Van Buren was the greatest runningback in league history until the current greatest came along, Jim Brown. Frank "Bucko" Kilroy who recovered the fumble in the Championship Game was, in the words of Concrete Charlie Bednarik, "the dirtiest player i ever saw" and that was a teammate saying that.

What about 1926?
@crabbyoldman8209
@crabbyoldman8209 4 жыл бұрын
Good question, but 1926 was the Frankford Yellow Jackets, who had almost no connection to the Eagles. The FYJs went bankrupt in 1931 and went defunct. In 1933, the NFL awarded the FYJ assets (and substantial debts) to Bert Bell and Lud Wray. Neither the NFL, nor the new owners considered the team or the two franchises the same team.

By Saam -- a Philly legend who was really pretty bad. I remember the first time Jesus Alou played against the Phillies (there were two other Alou brothers in the bigs, Felipe and Mattie). Saam couldn't figure out how to say his name. He used the Anglo version and you could tell he was beyond embarrassed. I was a little kid, and even then I was horrified.

so, he couldnt pronounce a name he had never heard of before and that makes him bad? seriously?

@@steveswangler6373 What made him bad was he was a lame broadcaster. The fact that he was embarrassed to say Alou's name made him funny. When they got Harry Kalas and Richie Ashburn, that was their best announcing team. Along with By Saam was Bill Campbell, who was always competant but that was about it.

@@oldcougar65 yes, Ashburn and Kalas is the best team the Phillies have ever had. but i have never heard anyone say Saam and Campbell were less than very good, except for you.

@@steveswangler6373 By Saam was just from a different era. IMO, he was uncomfortable as baseball evolved. As I said, Bill Campbell was a competant broadcaster. Actually I liked to listen to his radio talk show, which was on about the time sport radio started in Philly. I was driving down the Expressway when Campbell suddenly announced, "We might get Pete Rose!" I almost ran off the highway. I hated Rose with a passion, and suddenly, miraculously, I loved him! I knew he was the missing piece. And didn't Campbell call the Eagles-Packers game in "60? I think he did, but since I WAS THERE, I didn't hear the broadcast.
