There’s a collection in Delaware with a 1901 and 1902 steam cars in working condition. There are 16 steam cars, 3 gas cars, and one electric. They are all in running condition and taken out on the road regularly.

There is a hybrid car from 1916 called the owen magnetic. This car in the video is not the first hybrid car.

Notice the early battery electric boasts 100 mile range at 25mph. Bakers boasted 120 mile range at 30mph. All of them equated to 4 hrs of power they could carry in batteries. A modern Tesla can make 280 miles in the typical 95 to 20% healrhy battery range at 70mph highway....you got it 4 hrs of constant service. So like closet space, despite growing need, there's always a limit The final car is close to what modern car should be. The ideal car would be electric to 45mph then gasoline for high gear. No transmission needed. That way no tail emissions in the city where pollution is an issue, and 70 to 100mpg on highways. Engine recharges the battery on trips. Plug in AT HOME for local driving.
