Might be the last Eddy ranked video unless you guys just really want to see more, but I've had a decent amount of fun learning and playing the character. Lots of people are struggling with the matchup and I can't say I'm surprised. Character is super easy to pilot and hard to defend against and also pretty strong.

2 months ago there were still good players climbing to their natural ranks, so getting to mighty ruler was much more difficult than it is now. Paul isn't that much more difficult to climb with either. It's simply that Eddy is a problem by design cause he's hard to deal with regardless of whether he is busted or not.

The best way to learn the matchup is to play against him and fix your mistakes, it’s sad a lot of tekken players don’t have that mentality

It’s funny because so many people are complaining that they can’t learn the matchup without buying him but instantly run away once they see him. Like I get how frustrating that is 100% and it shouldn’t be that way but if you feel that strongly about it you probably SHOULD run the set to get as much experience against him as you can lol.

Honestly, he’s strong but not that strong. I would rank him between high A and low S if imma make a tier list. People just lose against him cause visually, his stance and animations are weird. It’s making them guess if he’s gonna go low or mid.

It's also easy because of the fact you can't lab him in replays unless you buy him so learning the matchup is literally pay to win in a game that heavily relies on knowledge checks

You can watch replays but you cannot practice any punishes or anything during the replay unless you buy him. It does tell you your punishes however, just can't lab them

I would agree that some of the characters with lower play rates may have higher win rates as a result of matchup knowledge but would also argue that those same characters have been labbed out and are generally considered to be weaker than most of the cast and that those still playing from that pool may be character loyalists with skills transferred from previous installments which allows for them to secure wins consistently against the strongest, most played characters despite the weaknesses of their own.

the first night eddy came out, I got washed BAD by 2 dudes in particular against my yoshi but im new to tekken and never fought him in t7, im glad others are having trouble bc that night had me tight

the sad part for me is that eddy is a big big part of tekkken 7 for me and the reason im buying tekken 8 is because of him being my main and seeing the new fighting way do make want to see a few nefts but i will be a eddy main until i die and i hope to make a mark of my own with eddy in the tekken world

Unless you’re a person and is completely new to Tekken. I get Eddy is a little different in this game but at the end of the day it’s Eddy 😂 and I’ve been dealing with and playing Eddy since Tekken 3. Not saying he still isn’t a headache to deal with it but it’s less for me since I know how Eddy works and I understand his play style.

I don't think he is that broken, but I struggle a lot with him simply because I cannot practice playing against him whatsoever because Namco forces buying the character on you to lab against him. Kinda messed up in my opinion since I have no interest in ever playing him and therefore shouldn't be forced to buy him.

Bruh I don't think its ur fault that players don't know how to be patient. Since you played Eddy, a lot of your opponents try to mash after strings instead of waiting. There was a couple of players who actually took their time. I really enjoyed watching the Leroy fight because both of yall were taking your time and adapting to each other‼️. PEAK FIGHTING BROTHER🗣️

I had got the 100 dollar Tekken 8 with the year of unlockable characters included. I got him the day before his official release, and I found that yes, he's very easy to use. And no, he's not broken by any means. I've been farming Eddy players for wins due to how punishable his moveset is. Sure, a good player with solid fundamentals in general using him could give me a challenge. But the ones that spam? Needless to say, they don't rematch me. 😂

I was excited to play Eddy and I went on a 10 win streak. I did not deserve it and even if I start learning the combos I can sleep while doing them. It just feels wrong to play him. That's why I love playing Raven and I want to love playing Leroy but that is basically self torture at this point

eddy is a "scrub killer". so is super oppressive up to a certain level of gameplay. pros and very advance players probably won't struggle that much,but everyone under will straggle against cheap easy mix ups with someone that at least semi competent with the scrub killer.

He's too fluid into his stances, too fast, and far too versatile. Usually you know when your turn is over, but fighting Eddy is a fundamentally different game.

even on intermediate or higher ranks, most eddy players still spam the same strings and 1 button combo starters over and over again and get away with it. sucks having to throw matches online and lose points just to practice defending this character's attacks if you're not willing to dish out the extra bucks.

When you lost against Leroy you lost 520 points, when you won the set back you gained 500 points...this is probably why people "one and done" so often.

Man all Eddy players use the same 3 moves... I come across Eddy so much. He is fairly easy to parry and punish. Most people just mash 3 and 4 and hope for the best.

I dont think he is broken at all, a lot of his stuff you can counterplay with knowledge like out of handstand when you throw that plus frame overhand punch you can actually jab him out before he hits the punch

Df 3 is -18 on block it used to be -23 in older games this is why the best eddy players are cracked because you can’t afford to Fuck up your punishment 💯

Any 15 frame launcher can be launched on block. Steve is the only exception, as he has no 15 frame launcher. 😢

Nah that’s not entirely true. There are characters with safe 15 frame launchers. Like Hwoarang’s DF2 for example.

I wouldn't say Eddy is OP, he's just tricky to go against if whoever is using him knows what they're doing, especially if they're patient. A patient Eddy is nightmare fuel. 😅

Notice you’re using heat smash immediately as eddy Leverage his qcf3 and 3+4 in heat, moves are absolutely fcking bonkers. Qcf3 has ridiculous range, leave you plus on block, and does insane damage on hit. It’s a neutral monster. 3+4 is hella good, but doesn’t have nearly as much range. Use that shit at the wall for pressure as it leaves u hella plus. Eddy’s mixup is super counter able, and honestly feels a bit underwhelming. His negative basically dies to backdash. However his heat moves kinda redeem him.
