What does divisble by 3 and +1 mean

I did 60 stitches. That was wide enough for my shoulders. That number is divisible by 3. Then add 1 stitch. My start is 61. Let’s say you made 74 stitches for your correct width. You would have to make 75 stitches. ( which is divisible by 3) then add one. Your starting row would be 76 stitches. Your second row is single crochet, chain 4, then skip 2. The pattern is in groups of 3. 😃 I hope that helps.

You just have to try and measure. Some yarns will stretch more. Once you get your width, you can make it as long or as short as you would like. 😃
