Nobody can explain why they chose to add a certain note to the melody. After searching for many tutorials on making melodies, I think there's no way to learn it as a science. It is all about being good at the ear or not.

The easiest way for me to learn how to make top line melodies was really just free styling for hours on my beats or a chord progression looping. I’d say learn one scale on the keyboard and then just do scale runs, try different rhythms, and stay consistent. There is forsure theory behind it that can help, but I really only studied chord theory and scales. Melodies I always just freestyle it, it gives me random ideas

There is an explanation for every note if you understand the theory, you just don't need to understand the theory in order to do it. What you're looking for isn't a tutorial on melodies, it's a tutorial on relative pitch and understanding the relationship between different scale degrees.
