Warframe is a free-to-play cooperative third-person shooter video game developed and published by Digital Extremes. Originally released for Microsoft Windows in March 2013, it was later ported to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
In Warframe, players control members of the Tenno, a race of ancient warriors who have awoken from centuries of cryosleep to find themselves at war in a planetary system with different factions. The Tenno use their powered Warframes along with powerful weapons and abilities to complete missions. While many of the game's missions use procedurally-generated levels, newer updates have included large open world areas similar to other massively multiplayer online games as well as some story-specific missions that don't use procedural generation. The game includes elements of shooting and melee games, parkour, and role-playing to allow players to advance their Tenno (ancient warrior) character with improved gear.

The worst part is that if you're solo it ends up being faster to do it 20 cryo at a time because no matter how fast you kill the enemies with Hildryn no power carriers spawn.

October 02, 2021 - can confirm, still works, even the augment! Oh my god. I was on the verge of breaking down from failing the survival, 3 times with 3mins left. I was already using Hildryn but not as amazing as this. Thank you very much!!!

So glad I found this video, extremely helpful. Still works at time of commenting even if you don't have the lightning ward option, just Burning Pillage was plenty with some patience. And someone else's advice to bring a Probiscis Cernos was helpful too, though it certainly wasn't what did most of the work. Hardest part for me was the Defense mission, since sometimes the normal corpus guys would wedge themselves into the crevices around the defense point and Pillage would seem to stop affecting them due to terrain collision, so I had to jump into their little gaps with them to hit them and stop them killing the pod. Still did it in one try, though it did take a long time. Edit: I didn't have the balefire augment for popping bubbles either, so they were a slight hassle, but the cernos could pop them in 2-3 shots or I could just run into the bubble with my lacera and yank them around a bit until they fell over. Had to be careful about excavators/defense pod while I was nullified though, since that meant no burning CC for the other enemies.

I think that Grendel is a very fun frame, for this mission I used Octavia for defense and excavation and Revenant for survival with Broken Scepter for health and energy

Oh sure, there are other ways you can do it, but those methods are much harder. Using Hildryn is by far the easiest method, you basically can't fail and you don't even have to pay attention to what you're doing.

Can confirm this still works brought the embolist for nullifiers have the cerata equipped and it does kill very well but never needed it. Feb 29 2024

Thank you so very much! This worked very well! I completed these quests solo with no serious issues. I did have a ship come in and unload on an excavator. But it was minor. This also works well on steel path.

Cool synergy! My favorite setup for this is similar but with thermal sunder as the helminth ability. Cast pillage first to proc burn, and then cast a cold thermal sunder for a big damage blast proc. Damage varies a lot, but is usually somewhere from 5k - 15k in the entire area of thermal sunder. Another tip is to try and use Cerata. It forceprocs toxin on detonation and will oneshot a good amount of the enemies you face in these missions.

Great video, I had a problem making survival almost no enemies to kill, the map was almost empty! Fortunately, I was able to reach extraction when I lacked 3% life support :v

Finally got to you did I? ;) I have a dedicated video just for this build, just look for my Elemental Ward Hildryn video where I go over it in more detail. It's a really fun ability synergy. I tend to remove Aegis Storm, because I kinda enjoy being able to use her 1 to pop Nullifier bubbles with the augment for it.

So I found on the excavation that I still had to let excavators die with Hildryn, simply because power carriers seemingly stopped spawning. It was at 600/800 when I noticed this. I think I saw 2 more power carriers after that point, so 8 excavators to get the last 200.

This setup still works as of 29 Apr 2022. Except you need to subsume the chroma mod as he is doing....the changes to the eximus NPCs made this much more difficult to solo. Arcane Barrier in your warframe no required but desired to replenish shield. I used an acceltra to pop bubbles....and then kept chroma electric buff up...and kept 3 skill up while spamming the Pillage. I could not go into operator mode during these missions so remember that when playing. A good duo for this mission would be wisp and hildryn as a safe bet to beat all three a bit easier. Might also want to have maxxed arcane nullifier loaded into frame to counter magnetic effects. Helminth inspiration buffs might make this easier. I just do not know if they work during these missions. I took out the easier mobs first before dealing with eximus mobs ...especially in defense. You can get the eximus to attack you over defense target. I got a max of three eximus per wave in defense.

Part of me is flipping a coin about doing this all over again once I get Grendel to give to the Helm, or if I should toss Grendel's ass into it after I get it to level 30 and not look back. Either way, at least I'm going to get it soonish thanks to the build suggestion here. Thank you kindly.

Right now I'm in this weird position where I'm trying to get the rest of the base level warframes (Harrow, Ivara, Protea and Trinity are all ones I know where to find, while Sevagoth is going to take a bit more searching online). And plenty of weapons to farm out too. Still, I'm doing my best to not get rid of any warframes I collect (other than if I have a prime version of them, to which, into Helm they go). The only ones I regret getting rid of that I don't have is Frost and Mag (but it isn't like getting them reconstructed is an issue). Overall, I'm very thankful to you and other content creators for the various "where to find ____" since they have been of great help as I slowly approach MR27. And yet the sad thing is that I still don't have a proper build for Steel Path yet, so I know eventually I'll need to get that figured out.

Nyx is pretty good for getting started in Steel Path. Your biggest obstacle to overcome in SP is the ridiculous armor values that Grineer and Corrupted have, Corpus and Infested are much more manageable. But with Grineer, it just feels like your guns do nothing because of the damage reduction they get from their armor. Nyx has an ability (Psychic Bolts) that just deletes armor with the click of a button. It's very helpful for making progress on Steel Path. And if you have the augment mod for her number 4 ability, you can just walk around and be immortal as well, albeit very slowly ;)

I'm actually quite impressed with how Assimilate makes you withstand everything, and with a Nikana I have built up, it can be used for such fun goodies to build up a big combo and get slashing. 7:00 this first kill is without elemental ward. There are some enemies that will be too tanky to kill quickly with this setup, but for the most part they die within a few seconds.

yo that was awesome hildryn really trivialized this farm. i never liked her before i guess i just didn't know how to play her right. The defense mission got weird though. Whenever a ship flew by to drop off more corpus my pillage stopped restoring shields for some reason. I would cast it, it cost shields to cast, i see them all getting hit by it, but my shields wouldn't restore and i eventually got down to 0 shields and could do nothing but die and come back with full shields.

Beat excavation easy enough. Basically impossible to fail unless you try too hard to defend the drills. Plus my Mirage is broken in these missions. Casting 1 only creates one clone, which stays in place, takes all aggro, and doesn't disappear under any circumstance (even death). The unfortunate tradeoff is that you can't cast abilities until you die, and can't melee or interact with the Survival mission's health canisters indefinitely. The defence mission was more difficult. Limbo couldn't regen energy fast enough to maintain his bubble and time stopping abilities. Vauban and Frost also didn't do me much good. Ultimately it was Wisp who got me through it with her 1. Just shock prox everything and take damage like its nothing. Her signature rifle's also good considering it has innate electric damage and infinite ammo. All that's left is the survival now. Your strategy looks solid, but I'm nowhere near done with Solaris United to even start grinding for Hildryn, and frankly, don't enjoy the open world segments of the game at all. Going to need to find a plan b with a more realistic to acquire frame. Even then, I find enemies just don't spawn often enough in solo survival.

Octavia is an option. Since the damage comes from turning enemy fire back on them, it scales decently well even without mods. And you can go invisible to survive.

Equinox with Duality and a beam weapon like the Kuva Nukor aimbots mobs and annihilates them instantly. Energy can be an issue if orbs don't drop but with a Trinity she'd shit on these missions. You could also maybe get away with it solo if you Helminth Gara's Spectorage with the augment that drops energy orbs and also bring the Broken Scepter but I haven't tested it. Edit: With just the Broken Scepter and a little strategy I did solo Defense first try with Duality Equinox and a Kuva Nukor, then very easily did Survival solo. Used Limbo for excavation because I don't have Hildryn.

This is pretty much the formula for any exterminate/survival with Hildryn. Couple that with a very very broken aura mod and you've got an immortal warrior of death (may need some toxin and slash arcanes for infested missions). When I farmed Grendel I didnt have the augments and the helminth system, so I used revenant and enthrall helped a lot because I could get a personal squad of 7.

I used broken scepter to keep energy for ash's 4 on the defense its an instant kill for all enemies rev for survival with the and thralls to keep enemies bunched up and the same for the excavation just running around activating them and using power cells when I find them

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, or did they patch Hildryn? I can sort of get that to work, but I have no clue how you're keeping the shields maxed all the time. It's a struggle to gain any shield energy at all, and at some point, I'll run out and be forced to run and hide somewhere to recover shields.

Pillage refills your shields on cast, so long as you hit an enemy *who still has shields.* If you hit an enemy that already has its defenses stripped, Pillage doesn't work. So if you're not regaining shields on cast, you need to find a new enemy to cast it on.

With the amount of complaints about power cells I think excavations should be a 2 person farm. What i mean is that if people are having problems with power cells dropping less, well then a second player with a nekros should hunt the cell carriers. As nekros has a 50% chance to force spawn a second power cell from 1 carrier. Makes excavations go faster.

February 20th 2022 - Yeah it still works. I guess Augment just doesn't count as normal mod like how Aura mod works. I struggled against Nullifier and Eximus(Should've used balefire and better weapons, oh well.) Still managable through all 3 missions. Took me about 80 minutes. Welp, time to grind for the second set for the Helminth.

I'm sure it worked. Even better with the helminth. The Nora Mix update did came out a few days ago, and some augment mod buffing. My guess is they patched this out? Nothing was mentioned in the update note though(or I didn't read it careful enough).

One bug I noticed is that if you take a Vulpaphyla, after they die and self-revive, they will have all their mods back on. Don't know if this works with Regen/Primed Regen on sentinels, but either way Vulpaphylas will probably be more useful, especially if you use the one that can put spores on the enemies. That's what I did and it definitely helped things a decent bit.

I don't know if I just don't know what's going on or what but I just tried it and they seem to be tickled when I pillage while elemental ward is active but nobody is dying and they're killing me.....edit: sheesh, it took 45 minutes but I managed it with an amateur's persistence. I did learn some useful things I'll be using in builds though🤓

Are you sure you had the right emissive color on your Warframe, so that you got specifically the Electricity ward? Also the lightning zap is single target damage, not AoE, so every cast of Pillage will kill ONE enemy, so you gotta spam it.

Alrighty, I used this to solo two of the grendel missions, it makes killing simple, but that last defense is so freaking crazy. I'm killing as fast as they come and the enemies out of range are destroying the objective so I run over to burn them and new enemies spawn on the other side to continue the attack, they go after it more than they attack me......I've even tried with another player as Hildryn and even two of us couldn't do it, 2 waves left and the thing was destroyed....so now I'll try a resonator build just to get them off of it and hope blazing is enough?

Update: not sure if anyone will see this😜, but I changed from elemental ward to resonator and it did the trick. Blazing pillage was enough to take most out, sporelacer kitgun did surprisingly well, but the unmodded bubonico killed everything better than other guns I tried. Hildryn is definitely the way to go though, everyone else(that I tried) is dependant on mods or operator for energy. Hit me up if you need help with this crazy defense🎮✌

Seems legit for me :D i do not have hildryn /actually i have very few warframes. I tryed this with wisp and synoid simulor ... def 35 mins ,2 deaths and i had to hide and regen hp= no space for mistakes .... did it on my first time , second one was survival it was pretty easy no deaths 20 mins ........ excavation was pretty good from start but after like 600 cryotic i died like 3 times and got all excavator with out energy (no cell mobs ) and all destroyed before finish (bursa was pain in ass ) = 32 mins ...... btw one stalker (in defence) and one syndycate mobs (some heavy griner eximus gunners in excavation).......... so i made it all on first time but it was hard !!!!! YOUR WAY IS WAY BETTER !! ......... eddit i died because of those mobs with blue barrier which negates skills (it deleted my reservoirs and i did not nitice it from start def and lack mana in excavation missions )

I just farm my second Grendel using the tips in this video, for the defense mission the best weapon is the Proboscis Cernos. It has a very high damage even without mods and group several enemies so it's easy to kill them with Pillage!

The color you set as the "emissive" color when you customize your Warframe's appearance will determine what element you get when you cast Elemental Ward. Blue is electric.

i believe they've nerfed this a bit; you can't spam Pillage any more; there's a cooldown now; but I was still able to use it pretty effectively for this.

No, Pillage hasn't been changed recently. There exists no cooldown on casting Pillage. Don't spread misinformation like this, that'll discourage people from using this build.

@@IBGelby Bit late so you might've figured it out, but Pillage has a travel time (And maximum lifetime spent travelling, hence the timer). Recasting ends the travel and readies it to use again. So, if you want to hit massive areas there's effectively a delay, since you can't recast until it reaches the targets furthest from you, but if you're just trying to spam it you can still do so, it'll just only hit the people very close to you.

I see no Eximus. Add them to the mix and things slow way the fuck down. I just did this run, with blazing pillage and elemental ward, and after about the 4th site, you ain't killing shit.

I occasionally re-test this method just to see if it still works. Eximus units are not a problem, I can kill them just fine. If you can't kill Eximus units, then either a) you haven't set the Elemental Ward correctly to Electricity, or b) you're not spamming the ability hard enough. This method works just fine, if you can't get it to work then you're doing something wrong.

I was in your position, but finally farmed hildryn to subsume pillage onto Mesa for my mastery test, then I found this help video from Nik & realized I would have to farm hildryn all over again 🙄 for the Grendel farm, doh, but it all worked out fine in the end, good luck 👍

I have tried to get Grendel with a number of frames for about 7hrs and watched loads of youtubers do it. One thing which is really noticeable to me is why do my games have 10x more enemies than you guys have? I GET NO health or energy drops making it impossible to refill any skills i need to use and after I kill the first 8 power guys no more come. Are the maps and game easier if you live in America?

i don't know why people overestimate and overcomplicate these missions (except when they are buggy). wiki says enemies in these missions are level 25-30, they can be killed by most weapons easily. xoris is also a good underestimated thrown which has wide explosion radius.

@@mu9600 this used to be hard , xoris is unusual high DMG for unmoded weapon due to the power throw , most weapons and frames have trouble with it mostly because lack of energy so it can be a challenge but once you try xoris or felarx DMG is good enough, then just add some defensive frame . I've also done it with Octavia and even her struggles because No energy to recast stuff .

Just attempted this in a 3 man squad Absolute nightmare, with the new eximus units Made this drastically harder We used saryn, trinity and limbo for defense Nekros ,trinity and limbo for survival And octavia , trinity and limbo for the excavation New eximus made all of these hell No strat we had worked And it just turned into a stressful mess every single time This tactic looks way more manageable but idek if it will work nowadays anymore

Man it sucks so bad nobody does these missions anymore, you ask for help in recruiting chat and nobody wants to help. You're just stuck trying to solo it. And its torture.

Man, i tried the survival but its not doable man... I can survive but i cannot kill anyone with my weapons as they do no damage at all... This mission is the worst i ever played and most annoying..

If you use the method I show in this video you're not supposed to use your weapons at all, just your abilities.

@@TwoStarPlayers I tried and it was a no go.. I will try again a different method and if i succeed i will post it. Also the emissive doesn't change, i think they patched it or something man or its just buggy..

Read all the other comments on this video, everyone is saying that it works (because it does). You can see the method: what I do in the beginning, and what I do in the end, that's the same thing I'm doing the entire video. It would just be 20 minutes of me doing that, over and over and over again. If you're using your weapons, that means you're doing it wrong. If you're not using the Lightning Ward, that means you're doing it wrong. If you can't kill enemies with this method, that means you're doing something wrong.

@@TwoStarPlayers I did it with octavia instead, i tried hyldrin but its a no go man. I have no chroma to infuse but you said just hyldrin also works but i could not make it.

Yeah no didn't work as well for defense you need elemental ward with the augment. the last wave of enemies where too strong against pillage and heaven alone on the last wave. You need heavy weapon like the paracesis knock them up with heavy attacks and also had to abuse a nuffiers enemy to recharge the shield and health of the defense
