I’m an 8HC and been playing one length irons for years, really improved my game. Kept hearing about these, so tried them at the PGA store last week and fell in love. I even fell in love with the 5 wood, never played a wood before, always long irons, but I absolutely love the 5 wood. These clubs are so stupid easy to hit. Also, whether magical or mental, the counterbalance grip forced my swing tempo into Billy Dee Williams smoothness. I bought the 5 wood and 4-6-8-PW…I play half sets and look for a 20 yard gap, works really well for me, don’t leave shots short of the green anymore. Played my first round today, shot a 76 and was absolutely perfect in iron play. Ordered the SW today and will try the driver tomorrow to see if that magically mental shaft configuration works as well in it. I don’t care what they look like (the looks don’t bother me), only my scores. Heck, I even picked up a Cleveland chipper and can put the ball with 5 feet from 30 yards in about 90% of the time. Golf is hard, technology is amazing, I use it to my full advantage.

I think the Launcher XL regularly gets misrepresented in retail settings. Earlier this year I dropped in to 3 different stores when looking to get my mum (been playing for 3-4 years and plays off 30) some new bats, and mentioned in each store I'd like her to try out the Launcher XL's - all 3 said immediately suggested these irons are designed for people who are only just taking up the game so wouldn't suit her. She is late 60's and just wants something which makes the game as easy as possible - I have a feeling they would suit a lot more players than retail staff give them credit for, and I think Cleveland need to do some work on changing the opinions of retail staff.
@johnp1040

The salesman probably gets a larger commission from the other brands they push. I’ve been playing Cleveland Launcher HB irons for 10 years sine I was 57. They immediately helped me take my game from low to mid 90’s to mid to upper 80’s and I’ve had some of my best rounds in the low 80’s. They make the game easier for anyone who wants to use them. The game is hard enough, why use hard to use equipment. Cleveland is very underrated. So called Pros feel embarrassed to test them. Quality and technology beats them all.

@@johnp1040 i know where you're coming from but having worked in the retail side of the golf industry for several years i can tell you this isn't true 95% of the time. commission in retail settings is rare these days and the bias mostly comes from the internal golf snob of the salesperson. it also comes from a subconscious fear of embarrassing or insulting someone by recommending a super-game-improvement iron. that being said, i agree with you in that more people should expand their horizons and try easier to hit irons. i see far too many people at my club using blades or close to them purely out of ego, and if they'd just give other irons a chance they could shave strokes off their game.
@johnp1040
@johnp1040 3 жыл бұрын
@@gregbrown98 I get it. People need to leave their ego home. You want to have fun and enjoy the game, not get frustrated. Same concept, I see too many people playing from the wrong tees. Why do you want to hit 3 into a short par 4, or 2 into a long par 3, when you know you can’t do it.

In the spring of this year 2021 I purchased a set of 2020 Cleveland Launcher HB Turbo irons 4-SW and they really helped to hit the ball higher and farther. I'm 66 years old and have arthritis in my hands and back. I also had a hip replaced several years ago. I love the game of golf but get frustrated when I can't hit the ball any distance or can't control it due to limited flexibility. I purchased these club about 1 1/2 months ago and can't say enough about them. I hit the ball down the fairway with out to much fade or draw. I'm getting more distance and having fun golfing again. I like your reviews and your comparisons with other clubs. Great job guys, keep up the good work

These Clevelands are the evolution of the original HiBore design I’ve been playing since about 2005. Now I’m mid 70s with back and joint problems, playing a lot less and not likely to upgrade again, but still think these Cleveland’s are the best choice for older, slow swing speed players. I still have an old hdcp index card from 20 yr ago that says 12.2, but those days are long gone. The HiBores kept me playing golf a lot longer and more fun than I probably would’ve had with less forgiving clubs.

I’m going to get her fitted in the women’s version of these or a similar “iron-wood” set. Callaway, Cleveland, Tour Edge and Wilson all have similar offerings. I'm pretty much a hacker and everything I hot with this club went STRAIGHT down the middle. The guy trying out a driver next to me was saying WOW I wish I could hit an iron like that. I was out performing his driver. I had trouble sleeping thinking about how much fun golf could be for me. I went back there today and tried out several clubs. including the Hyrid version on the CLEVELAND LAUNCHER XL Halo. i felt more comfortable with the standard HALO CLEVELAND LAUNCHER XL with graphite shaft. THEN I bought a fun set of irons. I can hardly wait to get out there and give them a go. Looking forward to having FUN out there. THANKS AGAIN FOR THE VIDEO much appreciated!!

Went to the local Golf Galaxy last week, spent about an hour or so hitting 7 irons. I tried the T200, T300, Rad Speed, Sim 2, and I think one or two others. Average club head speed was around 80 mph. Best distance out of the Sim 2, but I was most consistent with the T300. My biggest issue (outside of strike consistency) was a lack of height. I think my average land angle was around 36*, which is way less than ideal. I didn't know about these, and I'm not sure they had them in the store yet. If they were, I find it interesting the fitter wouldn't have mentioned these to me. I'm certainly interested in going back and comparing them to the T300. Great video boys!

Got my Halo irons 6 months ago. Haven't lost any shots on the handicap (still 18) but my very weak mid to long iron game has improved greatly. So much so that I have taken my 5 wood out of the bag, I use the 4 iron instead. Even the 3 wood is in danger of losing its place. Now I have to state that I DID NOT choose these clubs myself, I spent 5 hours at a fitment shop hitting every iron you can think of (even those out of budget) and the poor pro was getting a little frustrated, he then wandered of and came back with a Halo 7 iron. Almost from the very first shot the added size and weight improved my swing tempo and the rest is history. PS I used to hit my Taylor Made RBZ 7 iron 120m ( 130 yrds) and I now take the Halo 7 iron out at 130 to 140m ( 140 to 150 yrds).

I had budgeted about $300-400 to upgrade my irons now that I was playing more frequently. Upon improving my driver game and incorporating wedges into my game my iron skills some how took a hit. I found a set of the Tour Edge version of these and figured I could always resell and switch back to a more conventional set of irons once I found my groove again. Honestly I’m a big fan of this style as more of a weekend warrior. My bad hits were always chunks and now at least when I do chunk I get some distance due to the larger forgiving sole instead of going nowhere for my efforts.

I'm feeling the same after this test - probably the best/most relevant test I've ever watched. 56yo. 11.5 hcap (was down to 7 before 10 year break) and lower ball speed than Matt (low efficiency). Been wanting T200, tested them at a Titleist demo day last week and was better with T300, but still not as fast, high or long as Matty. With a goal of single digits, it's hard to reconcile super-game improvement irons being the best fit, but they just might be. I'm fairly consistent and straight with my old x16s but get no distance. Only a good wedge game gets me shooting low 80s. May have to give the Halos a test.

Very interesting in that Matty Boy's swing speed and ball speeds right handed are almost exactly the same as mine. Mark Crossfield having the previous Launcher's in his bag for the long irons helped me put my ego in check. If someone as good as him used a super game improvement club, why shouldn't I??? I was fitted into 921 Hot Metals and they have made a world of difference for me. Hurt my ego so much that I kept wanting to cancel the order and get a players distance iron. My ego wanted a players distance iron but the numbers were much better with the Hot Metal. The dispersion horizontally was much much better. I play the Cobra T-Rails. I am a 8 handicap. It is just more fun to play golf with clubs that are easier to hit. Yes, I can still fade and draw them on command. The only thing keeping these out of bags is ego.

I purchased a set for my wife and had the shaft lengths all cut to a 5 iron length, For a tall gal she has short arms for her height. She is now able to hit her long Irons with some Height. She could not stop irons on approaches to greens. Now she's putting rather than chipping to save Par.

These clubs will work for many golfers of all handicaps. Mark Crossfield has played these clubs ( previous model). Golfers need to check their ego at the door and play clubs that make the game easier.

Awesome review. Thank you. Question - hitting from a mat is one thing but what about ground interaction? You made the comment about the value of these for those who strike thin, but what about those golfers who tend to hit down and take a larger divot? Would the thinner sole T300 be a better choice?

Matty should go to a local driving range and trash talk some golfers into a money match whilst hitting it right handed. then turn up on the tee lefty and blow their minds LOL

Matty should go to some cheapo muni courses that i usually go to that are filled with senior golfers who aren’t any better than you but love to pick on you and make fun of your shots/swing etc. Start right handed for the front 9, then proceed to crush it for the back 9 lol. Would love to see their reaction

Do you think that these Irons would suit a near 70-year-old with a heart condition, arthritis & a drinking problem? asking for a friend🤦‍♂️👴

Damn Bandit you sound like me but I also have lung problems. I'm 71, have played 58 years and and taught for 40. I got the previous Cleveland Launcher HB Turbos. I've always played forged blades or cavity back blades. These are more solid on pure strikes or miss hits. They sound more solid than my forged. They are definitely easier to get up in mid and long irons. The lofts are not extremely strong to get the distance you saw Matt attaining. They shocked me how good they are. Well time to go pour another bourbon. Cheers. Brent

@@bladdison7816 nice to hear from you, Brent, we could be twins, though at the moment my lungs are working just fine👍 Luckily at the moment, I'm still hitting my Orka Irons well, (though I did put Jumbomax on all my clubs to help with the arthritis in my fingers & thumbs). I only play up to a 6 Iron and then go into two hybrids (22 & 19deg). But If I start struggling to get the ball airborne I will definitely move into a set of Launchers👍 I'm a Whisky man myself with Laphroaig being my preferred tipple, but when I come over the pond I always enjoy exploring the many Bourbons that you Guys have👍

Apparently, a recent study found that the average golfer walks about 900 miles a year. Another study states that the average golfer consumes around 22 gallons of alcohol a year. Which means the average golfer gets around 41 miles to a gallon. Which makes us a hybrid hence should be playing one. 🥃🍸🍺

Thanks for yet another great video. It will benefit me and many others. I have g710 irons six-sand wedge. I do okay with the 8-s. Can’t hit the 6 or 7 iron for the life of me. Did not get along with g425 six or seven hybrids either. I have a lot of confidence in my G425 nine wood and a decent amount in my g425 five hybrid. No time for lessons this year. Barely enough time to play golf as it is. That gap in my bag has been driving me nuts. Was considering an eleven wood or a tsi1 7 hybrid. Finally a solution that sounds most appropriate for me is here. Going to try out the cobra t-rail hybrid irons 6,7. Might end up with the 5, 8, etc also. Thanks for getting me started in the right direction.

@@RKCHUX sure… I’m 60 so my swing isn’t what it used to be. I love the feel and launcher is a great name because I get a lot more height with these and they’re very forgiving. I just started playing again after quite a few years and these clubs along with some refresh lessons really helps my confidence I guess and I’m scoring better. I like that the 4/5/6 iron are like hybrids iron mix.

You know what would be really interesting? Seeing Matt hit some blades, MB, CB to see how much he’s really losing in not only distance but dispersion, apex, spin! Now that would be some eye opening info for a lot of golfers and super interesting for number junkies like myself. I’m thinking of trading in my combo set of callaway xforged cb (4-7) and razr mb (8-pw)for something a bit more forgiving but still has a compact size. Any suggestions? Love yalls channel! Big fan!

don't know if you have had any suggestions on this or already moved past it, but you may want to check out the Mizuno JPX 921 Hot Metal Pro ... very little offset, compact head but somehow still super forgiving.
