I would topcoat the base colour and cleanse that with rubbing alcohol. It will avoid removing any colour from the base (acetone WILL do that) and no pigment will stick to the base this way. Only cure the topcoat put over the French for about 20 seconds for the shiniest Chrome. I would also recommend filing the free edge before final topcoat to fully seal in the chrome and prevent chipping. And two coats of topcoat to protect it.

I can brush off all the chrome from the matte. It sticks to my matte top coat. 😢

You can use a generous layer of glossy top coat and buff it before adding the design layer instead! My matte sticks as well

Can you just use alcohol to wipe off tacky layer because acetone breaks down the gel especially if it's a soak off

Yes. I definitely would not use acetone. Isopropyl alcohol will totally remove the tacky layer without effecting or removing any of the base coat or gel polish. I do have a nail cleanser which is iso alcohol and acetone, however it’s mainly an alcohol solution with barely any acetone. Straight acetone is not recommended for this purpose.

sadly it’ll get in there as much as you try to avoid it! I wipe the top coat with a lint free wipe before dipping inside the bottle! I have a top coat I use for my chrome only :)

You can also use a different brush for your chrome and remove the amount you’ll use on to a pallet so you’re not double dipping into the top coat container.

My chrome comes off when I go to dust off the excess.. any tips?
