I personally think it's great, it isn't "clickbait" but it still entices people to click on the video. Excellent work as always!

I enjoy thumbnails like these cuz they're funny, but I think I'd much rather see a more consistent branding done. I really like the "Macro/Micro Melee" color palette and font. It's easy on the eyes and I would very quickly be able to spot it in my feed (sometimes I miss videos from my favorite KZfaqrs because their thumbnail just blends in too much). Plus, I think thumbnails in that style would be more indicative of the professionalism and effort you put into these videos!

Gino Valente back home now, so I actually plan on redoing my old thumbnails for a couple reasons (probably gonna do a patreon exclusive video explaining why) But I still wanna keep the branding for sure so I’ll work on it and hopefully find a good middle ground

@@Radarssbm Are they though? Downthrow is a simple execution test, upthrow is super easy to DI in all sorts of directions because of the laser. Forward throw is good at the ledge but perhaps his worst grab outside of that situation. It's not really that Falco's grab is BAD, it's that in most situations when you could be grabbing you have better options. Like, why do a 29 frame grab with 6 frame startup for no followup when you can do a 3 frame shine with 1 frame startup with plenty of combo potential? Obvs there are situations like when grab is more useful, but even then.. you can shine out of shield, you can multishine a shielding player Too far away for you to shine but you can just about extend your combo with a grab? jab. laser. anything.

Falco’s grabs are good. They are obviously not as good as Fox/Marth/Sheik etc but they are still really really strong. I think you’re missing a couple key points. 1) people still miss the DI on throws and you can mix them up meaning Falco grabs work if you’re doing a good job of making it unpredictable. Your opponent can’t ever be 100% sure which grab you will do. 2) forward throw is good lol. If you have stage control you can set up tech chase scenarios as it knocks down past certain percents (mid 30s for fox for example). On the edge, it sets up edge guards and gimps and opens up a ton of follow up opportunities. It’s just straight up the best option in many scenarios. 3) most importantly grab hard counters shield. Even if you only got 10% and a tech chase every time you get a grab, that’s actually still really powerful because it means they either shield less (which opens up a ton of new opportunities) or commit to getting grabbed often, which is bad for them because it will eventually lead to big follow ups). I’ll probably do a full video on this eventually but if you just let your opponent get away with shielding for free, that gives them a HUGE edge. While things like shine/aerial shield pressure can be really strong on shield, they essentially rely on mixups to succeed assuming you don’t get a shield poke. By grabbing, you add another layer to your mixup game, which makes it even harder for your opponent to deal with it. Mixups get way easier to deal with if your opponent only has to predict a couple options. Falco’s grabs aren’t unstoppable, but if you don’t use them you’re basically letting your opponent get away with shielding for free. And let’s be real, most of us don’t have frame perfect multi shine pressure, and even if we did, grabs would still be useful in certain situations

@@Radarssbm I agree that it's a good mixup and I also agree that it's much, much easier to execute a grab than a multishine so if your opponent is shielding constantly obviously the play is to grab them

Again it’s not always gonna be the best option but it can be hella strong in certain situations, especially with marth. Zain does it all the time though

Woah woah, I never said falco's grabs are bad dude. I deliberately said that Falco's grabs are good and I don't wanna contribute to the myth that Falco's grabs are bad. Falco's grabs just aren't as good at extending combos compared to his other options. A more simple way to think about it is "Falco's grabs are great in neutral, but not so great in the punish game" Whereas Fox's grabs are good in both. Make sense? Don't stop shine grabbing, it's broken!!! But learn when and where it's the right time to use it as there are other pressure options and you wanna make sure to mix it up!

@RadarSSBM thanks for the reply, I shouldve listened a bit more closely to how you worded it. (I'm guilty of missing details when its linguistic) I'll think I'll start paying attention to what factors effect the effectiveness of falcos grab as a punish. I imagine stage position, percent, match-up, and even shield size all change whether its better to shine->shield pressure or shine->grab. Thank you for your videos btw, they've helped me a bunch

Aiden Jacobsen I actually know this as a former puff main, but it’s such an obscure piece of information that I eventually fell on the side of just omitting that tidbit of info because it’s probably more confusing than helpful to newer players, and this video is specifically targeted to them. Way easier to remember “you can SDI grabs” than it is to remember “there’s one weird exception”

You’re welcome! I actually chose not to include Puff clips because in the majority of situations, opting for a rest is just straight up better than a grab. There are a few niche situations where it would be better, but realistically up-air, up-tilt, fair, bair, up-Smash, are usually better anyway

Wasn’t sure what the setups were for Pikachu but I’m sure there are some! Some people have already discussed in comments but yeah I just am one person I only know so much lol

Puff can nair grab and drill grab in neutral and she can do many many regrab setups. I chose to include none of them because I think it would only confuse players. In the majority of those situations (at least in my opinion as someone who used to main Puff, I absolutely could be wrong) Puff is similar to Falco in that her other options are usually better. Specifically, a lot of times if you can Regrab, you can rest. You also can up-air/up-tilt etc which set up rests and edge guards. There are still some situations where it’s ideal, but again, I didn’t wanna confuse Puff players

thecrimsonpixel definitely work on implementing drill grab at lower percents and drill up-smash at higher percents as both are good kill setups. Nair needs to be auto cancelled to work as a grab setup so you need to time the aerial at a certain height for that to work. Hope that’s helpful
