I live about 20 mi from the New Jersey Motorsport Park. So far I have only been on the lightning track. Looking forward to this season and trying out the Thunderbolt. I haven't done any Sim racing, but I have watched a lot of the videos of the experts showing you around the track. The best way to learn it is just go out and do it.

I've done it both ways and trust me learning on the sim gets you up to speed wayyy quicker than just having to learn the line from a few videos online. it's the difference between knowing how to do something vs building up muscle memory

Sim is the way bro!! Pilots use sims too so it’s definitely a proven learning tool.

I do the same exact thing. I watch a few videos about the line then get on the sim. Specially on long tracks you save time trying to figure out the track and can have fun right on the first session.

def could do that! I use a fantatec csl dd and v3 pedals mounted to a gt omega titan rig plus the oculus quest 2 vr headset. for software I like to play assetto corsa + content manager since it has a million mods

Legit the easiest way! At least to slightly leanr the track, with all the slight variations that can screw one up from sim. I personally feel i hold myself back in real life but mainly from coming back from a track accident not so long ago but starting to feel more confident and have gotten faster because of it for some reason. I guess cause i also try to find reasons for me to lose the car and crash on the sim lol BTW, i need to know what phone mount you are using!

I’m still learning T-bolt myself and have done probably a sum of 1.5 events due to one rain/wet event. For me it was the high speed commits for the kinked turns 1, 2, 3, 6, and 12 where you need to be comfortable riding the curbs apexing and exiting. Carrying high speed in and then trying to track out onto the curbs without upsetting the car seems unnatural on those linked turns. Maybe I’ll eventually get comfortable with it to hit them consistently. I’ll be at Lightning on Saturday for the last half of the day.

I can see that. I'm sure it's going to be different in real life and I'll have to work my way up to it. the only reason I didn't feel the need to work on those corners is that they didn't feel unique and I've driven similar corners before

Awesome vid man! You will love Thunderbolt! I only did a Hyperdrive but it was dope. I am signed up for NJMP lightning in March for the GR86's free NASA day, but I may sign up for Thunderbolt in June. Looking forward to your thoughts. The octopus is def my favorite section 😊 (Turns 11-12)

@@dadhats yea mang, the sad thing was I took my 2020 Corolla CVT for 4 HPDE days and it actually did great! However, the one day I did Hyperdrive at Thunderbolt was when the CVT popped 😅

The biggest thing with Sim for me is the lack of G forces. It definitely helps me learn a track but the lack of sensation of speed hurts.

Is there a reason you don't just use the 86 on Assetto Corsa?

yea it's stock in game so the setup is really not fun to drive and the grip limits are really low. you can modify some of the file values to change that but I never figured out how to get the suspension to feel right
