Yeah, learn to pronounce it incorrectly first time round so you have to relearn in order to speak correctly. “Koreans will understand it” is NOT good advice.
@TheYellowK-popgirl
@TheYellowK-popgirl 8 ай бұрын
@@UkOutreachyes it is…. I’ve met many Americans who don’t pronounce Spanish words flawlessly but you understand and that’s ok. You don’t have to speak perfectly it’s ok to start learning and then after develop the accent and pronounciatians. The point of learning a language is so to talk to others and understand it so as long as they understand what your saying there is nothing wrong with it.
@Quazir86

@@UkOutreach imagine living in europe when you have tourist everywhere, in France you can hear, like for example, at a castle last time, we had One german couple, 4 chinese girls, and 1 portuguese with his italian girlfriend, and they were all speaking in French, i understood everything, even with the accent, i didn't do like some people from Paris do like, "no it's pronounce that way" or talk to them in english, because i understood, One of the Chinese girls tho asked me if she was understandable, and i helped her with the pronounciation of the NAME of the Castle. She was so happy, so as i ! So yeah 'Koreans will understand it" is a good Advice, because if the pronounciation is CLOSE enough, you understand. And sometimes it's ok to do the effort, and not being disrespectful to the learners On the other way, in chinese, it will not work :s

You cannot expect a first time learner to pronounce something perfectly. I understand what you're trying to say, but its still nice to get some encouragement as a first time learner. and all the fine tuning can come later when you have a better understanding of the language, at the beginning mistakes are inevitable.

I've not seen your other videos yet, but I really like your style. I dunno if you've already mentioned this explicitly, but I've heard you pronounce the names of the consonants and vowels here and I have to point this out: amongst the many things I like about the Korean language this is one of my favorites: in knowing how to say the name of each individual character you can actually already hear what they're supposed to sound like at the start and at the end of a syllable. As with [Ieung] you can hear at the end of a syllable it's supposed to sound like -ng. :) Thank you Sejong!

Wow this is one of the best explanations I have ever seen. I've been having a lot of trouble with the exceptions, but no one had ever explained it to me like this. It's so much easier to understand this way! Thank you!
