I love this foot! I also use it for joining two pieces of batting. Put the bar between the two pieces so there is no overlap, then use a stitched zig zag stitch! Great way to use up leftover batting.

i used to stitch my fold over binding down by hand, never again. I tried this with one of my quilts for a baby. Worked great. Love it. Thank you for your tip.

That is the way that I sew my bindings on, but have never tried the edge joining foot. Will have to try. I had a hard time seeing how Barb did the corners. Thanks.

I have a Singer 201 Treadle that has an guide that bolts to the deck to keep the seam the same distance from the edge. I got it from my mother who got it from her mother who got it in 1936 and it works today as good as when it was new.

I am definitely going to get one of these feet to use for stitch in the ditch. I did not even know a foot like this existed! Thanks. I am also going to try applying the binding this way cause it looks so neat and crisp.

petmom ful I always bind mine like this, but I’ve machine-stitched the back and hand-sewn the front. This is a great attachment! You’ll love how nice the binding looks when you’re done even on the back. See how she metered the corners. It’s easy and looks great.

I love binding this way. I love to make quilts but I don't like to bind by hand. It just takes too long and my fingers get tired. So, binding this way is a life saver for me.

I have a stitch in the ditch foot for my Janome. The needle hole is wide for zigzag, so I can just move my needle position and do this. Awesome!

Thanks for this video. I always hate to do the bindings because of the seams are always wavy . I have this foot but was not sure what it was to be used for. We just got the new Brother Luminaire a couple of weeks ago and have not used all the feet that came with it. But i will be giving this one a try for sure. As many quilts as we make this will help us so much.

Tony, I do a lot of bindings as I have a longarm business. I do a 2 1/4 for better control and always starch the prepared binding as I fold it over during binding prep. It keeps the binding from getting ripples. And I do use this foot!

So glad I discovered you fun ladies! Thank you for your awesome videos! I have the bias binding foot and the edge joining foot but haven’t tried either yet. However, it would appear like this edge joining foot actually would be better? Any thoughts? Thx

They both help you sew on the binding. The Bias Binding Foot is easier to use on light weight projects without sharp corners. It works better with a smooth curve. On the other hand, you can bind a heavy or light weight quilt with the Edge Joining foot. And the corners are a piece of cake. I am going to do another video just on corners. I hope it helps.

I've been making a quilt for my sister in law out of her late dad's clothes, really struggling with the binding catching it underneath and being all the same so I've decided to do it this way. The binding is like velour and sucks because it moves and you can't really iron it 😔 anyway, I'm going to try this method, but as the quilt is thick will it be OK with the binding foot or do I need the walk foot? This gives a better professional fonoah on the front for sure

I could hear the sewing machine but the conversation was very low, almost muted. I had my sound as loud as it will go but the voices were very hard to hear. Good idea for the edging foot. I plan to try it soon. Thank for sharing.

I always used my edge-joining foot on my Janome for top stitching (which is what this is like). I thought either I was doing something wrong (that's not what the foot is meant for) or everyone else already did it. LOL. Thanks for the tips!

I don't think I would iron it and i wouldn't dry it on the highest heat. But I don't use the highest heat for anything.

I haven't had my Cresendo very long. I am not a novice quilter, but the edge joining foot is new to me. My question is thread....1. What brand name of Invisible thread do you use, if you can say. 2. 50 wt cotton thread? I love Aurifil. Advice please? I plan on buying the foot immediately. It looks easier to use than my bi-level foot. Coral Cannon, Lubbock, Texas

Any invisible thread will work. I don't have a favorite brand. I do have a soft spot for Aurifil. This foot is very easy to use. You will love it!

Do you buy your invisible thread bobbins? Or load them your self? Do you need to change your tension when using it in your bobbin? I know I need to when using as a top thread. LOVED this video!! I want to try it but would love to hear an answer before I try.

I wind my own bobbins. And it goes a long way. I don't change my tension. I haven't had any problems. I don't often use it in my needle. I don't have as much control with it in the needle.

You could use any brand of invisible thread. Janome also has an edge joining foot. Many of their machines come with it.
