Tyneham, The Village Where Time Stood Still. The year is 1943. In the remote coastal village of Tyneham on the Jurassic Coast it has been 1943 for 78 years now...
In this episode I visit a unique village frozen in time. During the second world war, Winston Churchill gave orders that this idyllic coastal community was to be evacuated and handed over to the military to be used as a training base. Although the villagers were promised their homes would be returned to them after the war, this never happened. The village has remained in the hands of the Ministry of Defence ever since, leaving this small corner of the UK in a unique time warp, trapped in the year 1943.
Join me as I visit the homes of the villagers, explore the village school and take a trip down to the fishing beach to uncover what life was like in Tyneham village all those years ago...

Open most weekends throughout the year and it's free to visit! The car park just asks for a £2 donation. Do check the website before you go though as it is occasionally closed off for army training purposes!
