They control the spending money of the family and children's health and education always comes first in their list so they squeezed their husbands wallets unless the wife only spend for her own interests then you can't fault the husband cheating and eventually divorcing the wife

日本の田舎では、こう言う班のオバチャンが実際に居ます(笑)例えばウチの班の場合、猫を多頭飼いして近所で猫を自由に遊ばせる通称『猫バア』。アッチとコッチで言ってる事が違う、通称『二枚舌の◯◯』。良く畑仕事をしてお裾分けもしてくれる、通称『畑バアちゃん』などなどです。
