Thanks for this review answering many questions others lack in much longer reviews, like performance at lower volumes and suitability to place near a wall.

I'm always eager to find out how a speaker performs at lower volumes. I'm not 21 anymore and it's not always Saturday night. Some speakers really shine when you're feeding them power but at lower levels can be anemic with big pieces of the music missing. It's nice when a speaker can still deliver a balanced full representation of music without having to be cranked. Very few, if any reviews ever mention that.

One question I always got often is "how does it sound at low volume". Many people listen at low volumes or prefer to listen a night and still want high fidelity. Thank you for your feedback!

Nice review guys😊 If one want more spl/ louder volumes, it can easily be achieved with a sub taking the brunt force of the bass. In my opinion, it is much easier to get great sound when pairing to a sub. Then the speaker can do what it does best, and leave the impact and bottomend to the sub (which in most cases, do a better job of that). 😊
@Hifyed
@Hifyed Жыл бұрын
You are right! The best way to achieve spl is adding a sub and taking and even taking out some of the subsonic frequencies(If possible) to the main speakers. Thanks for sharing your advice!

I hear that from many reviewers that the Unifi Reference scales up in larger rooms, and small rooms hold it back. Also, what amp was used during this?

Elac Unifi Reference or Dynaudio Emit M20 (2021)?
@Hifyed
@Hifyed 2 жыл бұрын
I only listened to the previous model Dynaudio M20. Judging by the previous design I myself would go for the M20 although I never cared for the cosmetics, the new one is much nicer. The reason for this is I like transparent "studioish" sounding speakers. I have a feeling Marcos would prefer the Elacs as he tends to lean more towards speakers that have a bit more perceived warmth. I would really encourage demo both of them if possible and determine what would compliment your electronics and sound preference.

Hi Guys , thanks for a good revew. I am looking for a speaker sounding like the bbc sl 3/5 a but a bit bigger. So sharp highs top mids top tone a bit on the warm side up to us 2000. Thank you

Thank you! I'm a big of the LS 3/5a and BBC-inspired monitors. I have not heard them however have you checked out Falcon? I know they have the license to produce the LS3/5A and make a series called R.A.M. which are much larger. Also, check into Spendor(classic), Proac, and Harbeth(might be too warm for you). Also, have a look at the PMC 25i range it will sound different however the roots of the sound is there.

Reinhart, Sean (Zero Fidelity) did a video on LS 3/5a replicates some time back, I urge u to find it and watch it. I have never heard that speaker, but ZF says they are excellent, that's good enough for me. If you can afford it, by all means buy them. But I'll give u a tip to save some money. Buy the Sony SCSS5's. Remove the woofer (it's quite easy) and stuff the cabinet with Acoustafill, which is a polyfill material (parts express carries it). Stuff it top to bottom, don't be shy. Then screw back down the woofer. This should give u the sound characteristics you like, altho not quite as good as the 3/5a's I imagine. But you'll save a ton of money and have a doggone good little speaker! Hope this helps.

How much power should a receiver put out for these speakers to perform properly? I understand that they like lots of power.
@Hifyed
@Hifyed 2 жыл бұрын
They are relatively easy to drive however do like current. Most high quality 50w+ amps will do the trick. Just make sure it has a good power supply!
