I was playing like it was single player game. Simply turning up the in-game music (which is insanely good) and ambient sounds, listening to every voice line, immersing myself into the world of Tamriel. Frankly, one of the best MMO experiances I have ever had (and I had tons). Game with flaws, but it's a diamond, no doubt.

Eso for me is the most immersive game I've ever played. I truly feel like i can jump in and live out my fantasy dream of being some adventurer travelling around the land. I'm a solo player and it doesnt feel like it hinders me at all, just feels like an incredibly dense elder scrolls game.

@SouthernRebels94

@@FutaCatto2eso actually does have role play the creators even tells you in the game info you can be what ever you choose to be that theirs no limit on what you can or can't do, you can choose to follow the story line or you can choose to do something else with in the game their is no limitations. Plus their are tons of role playing guilds you can choose to join with in the game.

@@SouthernRebels94 I don't think you normies in ESO understand what the term "Roleplaying" is in video games. Roleplaying is writing a bunch of text in game such as drinking wine, dancing, etc. Basically telling another person what your character is doing. For example "I grab the cup of wine, eyes looking at you menacingly while you try to explain to me that ESO has Roleplay" Roleplay in ESO is dead because the casual playerbase despises Roleplay and finds it weird. Doing quests is not Roleplaying and ESO has a ton of limitations in comparison to Skyrim. Apart from having no Roleplay, ESO's Expansion has been an absolute borefest with the same voice actors and quests.
@HennyVenny
@HennyVenny 9 ай бұрын
@@FutaCatto2Bro really gatekeeping the word roleplaying as if Roleplaying isnt a genre defining word that all of the elder scrolls already nests in. We get your point, but also, solo roleplay exists, thats the RPG part of... MMORPG. It's just semantics. What youre saying about that kind of roleplaying might be true, but also, you really can't ignore that that's not the only thing roleplaying as an activity reffers to.
@FutaCatto2
@FutaCatto2 9 ай бұрын
@@HennyVenny Yes that is that you normies consider "Roleplaying" is about. But in MMO terms, its completely different. I'm not sure why you're talking about "solo" Roleplay because ESO is an MMO and my argument was "ESO has no Roleplay" not "You cannot become a lizardman or orcman in the game". These are two completely different scenarios. Yes you can create another species and play them out in the rather dull questlines that ESO has to offer but solo Roleplay is never Roleplay. That's like saying you would play a table top game like Dungeons and Dragons alone, wouldn't that completely ruin the fun side of playing with friends or with fans of the genre? What I say is true, not "might be true". You might want to look up on what Roleplaying is from other better MMOs like Final Fantasy XIV and Warcraft.

90% of the story telling is an NPC staring at you with dialogue choices and basic copy and paste animations. There are no cinematics, dynamic in-game story telling, or any kind of spectacle. I played The Elder Scrolls Online for six months in 2014, left until 2017 when I heard about the upcoming Vvardenfell expansion, and I've been playing ever since. They've done a great job supporting the game and it's amazing how much they've added to it over the years. You did a superb job summarizing a decade of progress in less than 25 minutes. Time flies! Of all the tweaks, I think my favorite was the One Tamriel level-scaling. Since all loot scales to your level as well, you can actually obtain any gear set at max level. So if you loved that light armor set in the first base-game zone, you can still rock that armor set. It's still relevant. Just have to farm some pieces at quality level CP 160. It's much better than having to constantly upgrade to the next expansion's new hotness on an endless gear treadmill. So much friendlier (unless you're a hardcare PVP / PVE bloke that just has to milk every last .1% damage out of your build. Then you're always chasing the newest meta. :-P )
@bloodgazm8891
@bloodgazm8891 11 ай бұрын
The level scaling is what ruined the game for me tbh. You feel stronger at level 10 then you do at level 50. You progressively get weaker and it's a horrible feeling when you're supposed to become stronger as you level up. The accessibility is great, but leveling up now just feels like an unrewarded rush to get to max level so you can grind out cp160 gear. Also, the build diversity is very lacking these days, even with the lean toward hybridization of Mag and Stam

@Ingel_Riday6690

@@bloodgazm8891 Regarding build diversity: it could be better, but it's leaps and bounds improved from "okay, we added a veteran level 16 zones. Now only this gear is viable. Time to switch!" As for level scaling... I have personally never felt weaker as I leveled up. Sure, the level-scaling boosts shrink as you gain each level and enemies start hitting harder, but you also gain new active abilities / passive skills / armor / etc.. You'll only wind up weaker if you don't upgrade your gear, spend skill points wisely, and pick reasonable abilities. Otherwise, you'll just get better and better at melting faces. The power curve is very much in the player's favor. And as for the rush to hit CP160 gear... that's a personal thing. After a few alts, I stopped caring and just learned to enjoy the ride. I'm in no rush to get to max level anymore.

@@bloodgazm8891 what you're saying is such a lie, such bs. you can't have played the game to level 50 if you really feel that way it's such an absurd, doomer thing to say. at level 10 you have a rusty cleaver as your weapon and no skills, at level 50 you have so much more power, and wait until you get to champion 500, you'll be soloing public dungeons and world bosses and taking on veteran group content. you just sound like someone with 0 attention span that played a few hours and rage quit

This is one of those MMO's that just keeps bringing you back. The first RPG I had ever played in my life (besides The Legend of Zelda) was Morrrowind, so when this mmo came out I absolutely had to play it and still love it to this day. I recently came back about a month ago after about a year hiatus and while I admittedly had trouble getting into the Warden class in the past I decided to give it another go and created an Imperial Two-Handed Warden. I am happy to report I have been having a blast with him and he is now my main. Such a fantastic game that is absolutely worth trying and definitely worth subbing to.

Most people play this game for PvE. If there was an update solely about PvP, that would drive a good chunk of players away. I'm not saying it SHOULDN'T be updated, I'm all for new content, but releasing an update solely about PvP would bomb hard. ESO, like all MMOs, are built with PvE in mind and have PvP added. Even games like AcheAge or Black Desert Online, which are Open World PvP games, still have the focus on PvE to progress through the world, gain power, farm equipment, and such. Look at how you gained some of the best sets, like Valkyn's or even Spriggan's, both of which are PvE related. MMOs aren't Overwatch, Counter Strike, or Marathon, they aren't built with one thing in mind, they're built with all aspects in mind. And I'll agree PvP has been kinda ignored for awhile. But going all in to "restore" it will only make things worse. It's like how you don't put a withering plant in a bucket of water to revive it.

I still remember playing at launch and while I enjoyed the game, they didn't have animation for NPC mouths. They just moved up and down like a Canadian character on South Park. After a few weeks it started bothering me but shortly after launch they added those animations as well as a bunch of QoL improvements that made the game not only more playable but much more engaging. You were no longer talking to robot NPCs. I got hooked for a while and have had an on/off relationship with the game. The amount of changes and improvements they continue to make is really impressive and I find it much more enjoyable than FF14 or WoW.

@@ChristmasLore There are many many guilds accepting new players and help them out. There isn't really much of the game you can't do solo outside of dungeons and trials (raids) which most guilds are happy to do because they are a great way to farm gear. I'd say 95% of my interactions with people inside and outside of the guide I joined were positive. Trials are really the only bit of endgame that require you to know what your doing and be well geared, and the right guild will offer to help with that if it's something you'd like to do. But with that said the game is very casual friendly and has loads and loads of content.

GW2 is like this as well because once you get a setup that you like and works for you, if you take a year break and come back its not like WOW where you are reset and all your gear sucks. Your for the most part just as strong and can do all the new content without an issue, even vet trials (if the meta hasn't completely changed) I love that everything is voice acted and the zones are always so beautiful to go though while doing the newest story. Also the community in ESO is amazing I've only come across a few d-bags and I have been playing since beta on and off.

Great review. It is a good game to play, yes. I enjoy it a lot more than I thought I would. A little bit grindy depending on what you go after in terms of items and build. The "fetch quest" aspect, necessary to all RPG games, is dealt with through good to great writting and varied missions and mechanics. The voice acting is great. Some characters are really memorable. The difficulty levels are well balanced for the most part and theres also a great balance of Solo vs Coop content. Basically you can solo almost everything in this game but its relatively easy for anybody to jump in and help to defeat a bigger Boss. I play mostly solo and it forced me to grind or scry quite a bit to get a good build, good armor sets, weapons, etc. It took me a few weeks of casual playing to get me to the point I'm satisfifed and can face some seriously hard content solo which is very satisfying. You can become quite powerful in this game and I'm just scratching the surface. The Champion Points system could be improved imo as we are forced to invest points in skills we have no interest in to get to the ones we want and these points are not that easily acquired. But all in all, very very good RPG Online game. I'm glad I finally gave it a try. I expected a Fortnite / Moneygrab bonanza. Absolutely not.

I've played this game non-stop since the beta and I've recently quit. The game has become nothing more than a cash grab. Devs take months or sometimes even years to fix bugs, meanwhile, shutting down the servers to fix a bug in the cash shop the same day it pops up. They have abandoned the pvp community, even banning the term "pvp" in their live streams. They don't allow you to obtain cosmetics or mounts in game, only through loot boxes which cost an absurd amount of money. I won't even get into the money trap that is the ESO Plus system. I used to love this game but the devs have pushed a lot of us long time fans past the breaking point. I can't give them another penny or another moment of my time. If you're considering this game, please don't. The devs are not worth you hard earned money or your valuable time. In ESO you don't gain insane power, you gain *options* to make it less monotonous and overall having your full bar and ultimate will make things much faster than level 1. As someone with close to 2000h in this game I feel sad that despite this being a solid game once you get used to it, the playerbase is going down fast because of the changes, the old console support which limits what the devs can do, the split focus on PVP and PVE and mostly the combat. Every single one of my friends that I tried to get into the game left because of the combat. And Zenimax refuse to improve it, sadly the game is only going down.

combat team not listening and too much in love with their own idea, they cant attract new players and are afraid of losing the old ones.... combining pvp and pve in the same skill does not work, balancing every classes equally instead of rock paper scissor does not work, making all skills the same and essentially every class being the same instead of specifically building into each individual power fantasy does not work... game has become bland and the combat boring

Love the immersion and depth to the stories. I love the look of its graphics style and all the things you can do for customization. I have played off and on since release. I always go back but I always leave for 2 reasons: I personally don’t like the parallel progression as you don’t ever get a feeling of progression. No matter how much time investment, the mobs don’t care. Also, I hate to say it but I don’t care for the way the group dungeons work. They are all speed runs. You are forced to choose weapons and setup that always for quick casting not just in the move but at a dead sprint. The classes are different and original but if it’s not designed for meta you are slowing the group.

This game looks great, the quests are fun and the raids/dungeons are great. However, combat is a spam fest which turned me off of it.

ESO combat is centered arouns global cooldown. You'd need to have the precise input at the precise interval. Spamming in general is both boring and unengaging, also not how the combat is designed to played with.

Got the base game free through Epic Games. Just a week in and you trip over sidequests every few steps you take to the point where I ran into the same NPC while already on a sidequest with them... As a beginner, it's interesting to see so much I could interact with -- HOWEVER I have seen how other MMOs monetize with lootboxes, etc. I dumped money into Star Trek Online for a bit; I have learned my lesson. So I will aim to be content with what I can get into as a base game player.

If you ever complete all the base game content, you can always get eso plus which will give you every dlc whenever you decide to play. It offers more than enough content for anyone and also gives you crowns for the store. Also craft bag makes game more enjoyable.
