Unfortunately doesn't matter how old the car is, if your trade your trade and whether you want to or not every car you sell stands a 3 month period where it has to be "fit for purpose" so well done for sorting it 👍

@@pete9501 any where you choose to look, the fit for purpose act has been in place since the 80's for all sold products but motor trade have to stand by the product they sell as being fit for purpose, regardless, google it, talk to your local CA or TS

In all honesty the customer was well within there rights to ask you to sort the problem after a day, if you are registered as a business it lies with you as someone said in the posts. without going in to consumer rights you did the right thing sorting it and im sure the customer appreciated all you did for them.

If you sell more than 5 cars in a year you must give a 3 month warranty it’s part of the job.

I always thought, if you are buying and selling cars, for a living, you have to be registered as a dealer, am I right or wrong 🤔

Not really as a dealer but you do need to be self employed and do the tax returns as every self employed person would, also it's Illegal to pose as a private seller if you're actually a dealer.
