MY GREAT UNCLE WROTE THIS SONG!!!

Wow, this is a real piece of music history. Thanks for posting it here.

If I had a time machine, the first place I would go is to wherever this was recorded, and just watch this happen. Can you imagine what it must have been like to be there for this? The best do-wop song of all time, sung a capella: these guys are singing their buts off. Just magnificent, whoever you are who posted this, thank you more than I can ever say. this is the single best thing on KZfaq, ever.

Carman Romano, baritone and co-founder of the Staten Island doo-wop group, the Elegants, died Tuesday (August 2, 2016), just short of his 77th birthday. He started with the Crescents, along with Pat Cordell on lead in 1955 and after the group broke up, two years later, he & Vito Picone formed the Elegants.

One gem of a recording.

Little Star was so big when it came out. Our 7th grade music teacher used to let us sing it in music class. We were so cool.

We are from the Blue Mountains of Sydney that this music is still alive and can be listened to and appreciated long after the decades have passed. I must thank KZfaq for making this possible and people like you who can showcase it.

Wow the demo is just as great as the 1958 release! The drum beat in the 1958 released hit version is ahead of it's time. Sounds more like 1961 style doo-wop in the released 1958 version! This demo is quite amazing!

Studio version of the song reached #1 for 1 week late in August 1958 ... Billboard's third #1 song after it expanded to a "Hot 100" in July of that year. I remember this song from "American Bandstand" ... wow! Great demo!

Utterly fabulous.....yeah Im up with that. Please bring back the doo op 50s. Sweet,lovely music,pretty harmonizing,the English language in its finest. Cars.....movies.....milk shajes.....holding hands..... simple romance......good lyrics without profanity and vulgar ghetto language. Yeah....Im all the way in.

Wow, so great the hear this! Little Star is the earliest musical memory I have. I was just a toddler when it came out, but for some reason, it stayed in my mind. It was those harmonies and the "Ohohohoh ratta ratta tatta tooo". I carried it around inside of me for must have been forty something years before finally finding out what it was - "Hey THAT'S the song I remember from so long ago". Thanks for posting!

So sorry to hear about Carman's death. He was part of the Elegants who made history in the late 50's. So glad Vito is keeping the group active & performing. Wonderful that Little Star will have its 60th anniversary next year. Hope Vito sends me an invitation.

Ah, working at Burger King when I was like 16/17 and all we had was an oldies CD and this song was one of many good oldies

I remeber it too! I was riding my swinn bike. I was around twelve years old. This song was a huge hit and like you it stayed in my mind. Me and my buddy Carl Hodge (d) used to sing it alot. It played on WEAM radio. hosted by DJ Jhonny Dark in D.C.

Woke from a dream with this song in my head, did't know where it came from, but my dad did. He thought they played it at his prom in' 61. He sang it to me when I was very little and learning Twinkle Twinkle little star, his version was different from mine, and better!

the elegants were unknown until Allentown, pa.....they made a deal with gene kay ...if they did a store opening...gene would play the record on the radio....it went viral...within a few weeks it went to number one...the elegants put on a great show...what talent...only the best....it was tough to get your demo played...or heard....
