ancient times have both good and bad sides,...anyway it's nice to be an "empress" but imagining your emperor having hundreds,thousands whatever harem,it sure is heartbreaking...words cannot describe...imagining that he got a lot of choices aside from you...he can find fault at you and replace you...you as an "Empress" surrounded by hundreds of servants but your "Emperor" is nowhere to be found cuz' he is somewhere out there "serving"someone😑😑

@@mgsporty That's very unlikely. There's a reason why the only men who were allowed near the harem were eunuchs. Also they kept very strict records of when the emperor slept with a woman so if one got pregnant and there was no record of the emperor being with her... chances are (I can't say this is a 100% fact, but conclusions made from speculation from the historical information I do know and common sense) that she would have been tortured to find out who the father of her child was and then they would both killed, not to mention their clans would have been punished. Only someone who hated their family would do something that would endanger them as well.

@@HuaWei-qk4vg spoiler : they both got killed in a war against rebels in the last ep. Meanwhile in that ep above (still in the midst of the story), the king was always cruel to his second wife/consort. His first wife was her (twin) sister, had the opposite character to her. He was stil very in love with his first wife, meanwhile his anger of the loss of her late empress (his first wife got killed) was falsely directed to her twin sister. They made love, but his second wife was not allowed to be pregnant, thus he ordered her to drink contraceptive decoction which later damaging her reproductive organ. He maintained his cruel and bad composure toward his second wife almost 3/4 of the episodes.

I rather be happy & choose what I want to watch that can boost my day. Seeing from this clip, I can already see that the poor consort is suffering & being tortured by him. But I was hoping that he would change & he can resolved his attitude & way of thinking towards her.

The downside is if he doesn't sleep with you then you get a lower standard of care and at worse thrown into the cold palace.... I think conditions for the neglected consorts were similar to people on welfare with no freedom or future.
