The Hinatuan River in Mindanao, Philippines, is a deep spring river on the island of Mindanao.
About 30 minutes from the town of Hinatuan in Barangay Cambatong lays the Hinatuan River which has become one of the most popular tourist attraction sites in Philippines.
The surface of the water is typically calm & peacefull, and this combined with the impressive clarity of the bright blue water, gives this place an unreal, magical quality.
The river has such crystal-clear waters, that you can see the riverbed even at the deepest part.
Hinatuan River earned it’s moniker "Enchanted River” after being described in a poem written by the diplomat Modesto Farolan.
Thanks for watching

I've visited this river and had the privilege of swimming near the deepest hole. I normally like diving and have dived 15 to 20 feet in depths, but for some unknown reason or force, I couldn't do it when I was there. Whatever it is I felt, I attest it to respect rather than fear of the unknown.

@vanjosh7763

I've been there and the only reason why they ban swimming ours at night is because of the high tide. The water flow from the cave system flowing towards the sea reverses during the night due to the high tide waters coming from the open sea. Had you also noticed the water flow when you swam there? I noticed it, and it is stronger during the night and chances are you'll get pulled down with the flowing water into the depths of the cave. The water may seem calm due to how crystal clear it is, but don't be fooled by its current during high tide and low tide. Safest hours to swim are during 8am - 4pm.
@bobapearl9092

@@vanjosh7763 oh i know that 😊 but us Filipinos are still believing in mythical creatures and when we were little they made us believe that it's their time after 5 and it's easier to explain to the stubborn locals especially children that still want to swim at night, *than* explain to them that they can't swim because of strong current cause obviously they won't believe that.. I guess the stories of mythical creatures also serves as the protection of the river and also for the safety of the tourists and locals also that's why it remained untouched

Also, most of Southeast Asia or Asia in general believes in mythological creatures. Japan alone has a thousand yokai beliefs. @@burdenwounds3627 havent you noticed nost of the "smarter" countries like korea, japan and china have high suicide rate because they tend to be realistic while as the "dumber" people tend to be gullible about their problems and hope they will be ok when they are not going to be ok. An example i can find is on what i saw about a documentary in the slums of philippines where the reason they want more children is that they hope that one of them will be successful and get them out of poverty. When its more easier to just have less children and work. Ancestors back then lack the scientific knowledge. They dont have proof for these mysterious beings. I would call them dumb because instead of finding explanation to a phenomena they just lazily brand it as one of the "beings".

Yeah.. My grandmother used to say that the mermaids are living underneath the waters who are protecting the river and if even anyone who tries to harm or throw any trash or disrespect the locals they would get cursed and get sick or even worse the male version of a mermaid that is really ugly called a "shokoy" would take them away and drown them to take them to another world and unlike the beautiful mermaid that have clear pale skin because of the clear waters the shokoy have blue or green scaley skin and have webbed feet and flippers. Like they are bad really bad. They could harm you and cause bad luck. A story once said that there was this bunch of foreigners who was eating chips on the river and they forgot to throw away their trash and left it there floating as if it was nothing. They laughed because they were also racist against the locals and made a joke out of them. The white dude dissed the old man who was warning them to be respectful because they would get cursed by the spirits if they kept with their attitude. The dude and his groups kept laughing since they thought it was bogus until suddenly the guy started throwing up really bad and his body got chills and he was shivering like crazy. He suddenly collapsed and he was rushed to the hospital. After the diagnosis they were was no problem with his body and it was all normal. He had a high fever and his group got really scared and went back to the enchanted river to apologize the locals and searched for the old man they made fun out of but he wasn't there and no one knew him at all. They got so creeped out they literally packed there bags and left lmao So yes Enchanted River is really superstitious since ancient times. It is also believed that it is a portal to another magical world for who knows calls it. Just so you guys might know before you visit please be respectful to the locals and never scatter trash or anything bad because well something bad might happen to you. 🙏

I had been to this enchanted river , so beautiful , we had a cruise in a little boat from this river down to the Pacific Ocean then you see small islands .. this place is in Hinatuan , Surigao del Sur ( Mindanao ) Philippines about perhaps 2 hours from Butuan city Agusan del Norte ? … this is the only river that existed on the world , amazing ..,

I visited this place when I was a kid. I just realized how beautiful it was and remembered the great times I had with this place. There was alot of creepy superstitions around this place, like for example you cant swim after 5pm(apparently someone broke this rule and drowned), you cant fish in the area(their is a story about an old man fishing, and he thought that he caught a fish because there was something pulling from his rod only to realize that it was only a leaf after minutes of pulling it) it really creeped me out. Good thing I only heard the stories after I swam there lmfao I couldve been so scared

말티네지조하리 You can still swim in a part of the river, but not on that deep bright blue part. They say its a precaution since a doctor tried to swim and locate the source of the water fromthe very bottom, but lacked oxygen and died. So to prevent that incident, you can only enjoy the cold water on the shallow part of the river. You can also enjoy watching live the fish feeding at 12 noon, wherein a good number and sizes of fish just amazingly appear to be fed(by an authorized person).

When you go there its very magical and a bit eerie, no wonder they call it Enchanted River.

Nope, it's the limestone and minerals filtering it. The majority of that land is filled with limestone deposits throughout, and because of that the water is filtered to its clearest and goes through the underground cave system and flows out into the river through the open sea.

The river has no silt because the area surrounding it still has a beautiful forest and vegetation cover. So it's not really a mystery. The vegetation that covers the soil, helps compact the soil, and prevent excessive soil erosion.

I’m a Flip and I know the locals have this ugly habit of making/having their little huts near or ON any bodies of water (whether its a lake, river, coastlines, etc) and shit (literally) under them. The Govt needs to mandate to stop future squatters from building up on or near any bodies...especially that the country is experiencing a “cleaning” craze right now started with Boracay., Manila Bay, etc.
