Күн бұрынVlad and I set off on an awesome 20 mile day hike through what is perhaps the most beautiful wilderness of Washington State - The Enchantments! If you have not been, it is worth it! Spending nights up there will mean you will need to enter a lottery in May or so to win a permit. The other option is to do what we did. You choose.

Breathtaking scenery and many goats!! I'd love to hike The Enchantments someday, hopefully over night. I don't think I can hike 20 miles in one day. Thank you for sharing!

Say Heah Eugene, Yeah, I sort of do the same things, But I call it scouting, Most of the time I solo, The extended trips it's with others, I don't do that long of a hike but I do see some beautiful nature scenery. Oh, I just got myself a 24" Council Wood Craft Pack Axe with the heavy duty sheath and sling and I'm ready for some colder weather. I also hope my William Collins Master Woodsman won't take too long, I would like to use both on a trip. Nice video, Thanx.

We’re getting ready to do this hike in a couple weeks. Love your video. Did you guys feel as though you had to push through the hike or were you able to enjoy the surroundings and take breaks along the way? I’m hoping we can stop a few times & enjoy the scenery & not feel rushed to make it to the other trailhead.

Awesome trip report! Love the joking along the way as it makes more enjoyable viewing. Question: We are looking at doing the same trip with a bike shuttle as well. Can you share how the shuttle is from Snow to Stuart? looks like pavement for first few miles and gravel(?) after that? ~2,100 ft elevation gain? Where did you stash your bikes? Is thumbing a ride realistic is you are parking at Snow around 5a? Thanks for any feedback. Tony

Hey there! Glad you enjoyed it! I don’t know of a shuttle. We just rode our bikes down, ½ gravel ½ pavement. Hid them in the bushes. You very well may be able to hitch a ride, but obviously no guarantee.

Loved this video. I took my sister on the Lake Ingalls trail a few days ago, and I was trying to describe what was beyond Mt. Stuart, as it toward in front of us for most of our hike. I'm now going to send this to her facebook page. Also, what did your training schedule look like to train for this? Which area hikes did you do in preparation? Thanks!

Hi! I'm glad you're out there enjoying this beauty! We didn't do too much prep - I cycle some and Vlad did some running and forest work. We also try to go on some day hikes - 3 to 7 miles on average. We hiked to several lakes in northern Idaho and in Montana, nothing in this area this year. I think if you're decently active and your joints are doing well (knees!), you should be able to do this. Start as early as possible, hydrate and eat constantly, and you should stay together. I hope this helps you!

Yes, this is helpful. I run, do yoga for strength and joints, and do hikes that are normally around 8-10 miles. We're actually planning to do this in the opposite direction, starting with Colchuck. I think I'd rather climb Aasgard than have to descend it, especially after gaining all that elevation throughout most of the hike from the Snow Lakes area. It seems that after summiting Aasgard, it's literally all downhill from there. :)

A pretty incredible place! I'm taking a motocamping trip across the western US pretty soon and i'll be passing through Washington on I90 coming from Montana/Idaho heading towards Seattle so i'll actually be passing really close by this area. Unfortunately, I don't think i'll be able to take such an extensive hike this time but maybe if I make it back to the area sometime it'll def be on the table. It would be a bad idea to do this alone anyways. XD Do you guys have any recommendations for the area in general? If im not mistaken you guys live in Spokane right? Anything I should know or do while passing through? I'm looking forward to Coeur d' Alane after that bit you had in your bike video, the lake looked pretty nice. Anyways, thanks for the video. :) PS: thanks for the surivior pump review btw(which I see you used in this vid too), I found your vids from looking at things on it. I'm really enjoying these hike videos you have!

Great hike and video as usual. How do you keep enough battery to record all your hikes? I just finished a 3 day 30+ mile hike through the pacific crest trail, but couldn't figure out a way to have enough battery to record so I didn't. Got some great pictures though!

We bring spare batteries for our camera. Also if we need backup we will use our phone.

+Caleb Mckenzie We recently started using the Canon S120 for behind the scenes video and other non film uses such as reviews. We use our old Canon Rebel t2i for other films and some reviews as well.

Hi hi hi highhh You said ask you questions so heads up here they come : D 1 - Im doing it by myself this coming may, im coming from Costa Rica. Would you recommend doing the entire thru hike in one day or splitting it in two? One from each side to the core? I reckon this would be a little bit silly cause you would still end up tramping the same distance, but yeh thats the question. 2 - How easy is it to follow this trail? I hike with nothing but food and a cellphone. But well since im going to a diff country and all i should be a little tad bit more precautious. 3 - What other amazing hikes are in the area? Thx!!!

Any bears there? Only drop bears down here but the rouge koalas keep their numbers down

The pass website has this - Are there bears? "Yes. Problems with bears have not occurred in recent years, but you can help keep it that way by hanging food, trash, and toiletries when in camp. As with all wildlife, help keep them wild and never feed them. Mice, squirrels, marmots, and marten are also present and are known to chew through food bags, packs, and tents when people are careless. " So its a general "do the normal procedure stuff" and you'll probably be just fine. Haha

well, not too much. Just keep relatively fit. I have been cycling this year, and Vlad has been working manual labor and did a little running. If you're relatively fit and go hiking regularly, should be able to do it. Some aerobic exercise working up to it would help though.

It's disappointing to see you not practicing "leave no trace" by going off-trail, trampling fragile vegetation, and taking souvenirs. In fact, damaging plants and cutting off larch branches is illegal. WDFW also instructs people to maintain a distance of 50 yards from mountain goats. I would expect you guys to know better than that.
