Because the british industrial hardcore synth-stuff was marvelous for subculture-leftist guys who just came out the collapsing GDR. - What Rammstein actually was. It was a group from punk-rock-guys who accidentally came together, when all of them stay overnight in the same friends flat. Summa summarum: industrial synth in combination with hard riffs (punk rock) and Til Lindemanns robotic voice in order to celebrate a perverted form of facist aestethics - was just perfect for guys who stand on the line, after GDR, industrial dreariness and guilt of parents and before the possibilities of digital era.
