Lutheran told the story of how he killed Sherry's mother to Cid. Shadow begins to kill Lutheran the same way, that's why in his dying moments he realised Cid is Shadow and just laughs

I actually interpreted it as he realizing that Shadow overheard/knew how he killed Sherry's mother and would put that crime upon himself too on his own volition, in addition to the ones Lutheran was pushing on him. Maybe he even sensed that Sherry arrived to see that. But I really doubt he realized Cid is Shadow.

@@adarshmurali9508 The manga isn't the source, it changed a lot of things, soI went look into the WN and indeed there too he was goind to say Cid's name right before dying: " ルスランの視線と、仮面の奥の少年の視線がぶつかった。 「貴様ッ、まさかシ……！」 ルスランが何か言おうとした瞬間、漆黒の刃が捻られた。 You interpretation is likely correct indeed.

Yeah there's definitely some things to be said with this episode as well, in particular with Sherry seeing her dad die the same way her mother did. It's to be said that this moment is to be carefully understood when Cid said it's better for her not to know. I'll leave it to those who can better explain it.

Also, if you see this, Cid actually did hear what she said right there at the end before she went in the carriage.

Cid isnt heartless no man how much he chunnis about "cutting away the useless stuff" one example is him killing him the same way Sherrys mom died and then taking the blame, he can get a little edgy sometimes sure but deep down he protects people he has whole rules about not killing innocant people. and he clearly cares for the shadow garden girls and few others
